  1. Same with me. Anyway it's not nessecarily because of owners i.e. Green we're having this discussion, even if this matter is put out there for the fans to decide most of bluenoses would cheer and have Ibrox renamed.
  2. I was just about to insult you badly, good for you it's a joke
  3. This very paragraph is unbelievably gutting.
  4. DUDE

    Taxi!!!

    What was that for?
  5. I've never been a big fan of your calls to sack Ally to be honest, but blaming the size of a pitch for a game like this is ridiculous. Right up there with the floodlight was too blinding or the grass wasn't short enough. Ally is starting to take down his legend status he earned as a player by showing the display of a manager that he does, that is a shame but it's also a fact. The question is if a new manager would be able to correct the wrongs.
  6. This may be so, I am utterly opposed to anything that compromises the history and identity of a football club for the sake of revenue and re- naming of stadiums can certainly be considered as such.
  7. Yeah true, but where's the limit in this? For every club where this has happened, in Austria for instance, things started with a change of stadium name and worked it's way onwards from there. Now they got teams who are called company names instead of FC or SV with coorporations logos included in their badges. This is absolute horror.
  8. Yep just read that as well, ordered it anyway. Probably a lot of rambling but there might be some interesting parts about it, looking forward to the read.
  9. That is what I meant, this has to be seen as the last holy cow to slaughter when nothing else has worked.
  10. Exactly we've swallowed a lot. That is why I think renaming Ibrox is too much to ask for. The money would be very appreciated as it always is, but it comes at an exorbitantly high prize. Anyway I think if things unfold like Ally said and fans will be asked whether or not they want this, I predict a majority being in favour for renaming. Which is a pity.
  11. I agree GA, investing money into infrastructure of the club and the team itself is crucial. I just don't believe there is no other way to earn that money, renaming your stadium is the last straw to so when everything else has failed in my book. Desperate times call for desperate measures I understand, but won't moving up through the leagues generate additional income, do we really need this extra bit?
  12. Just read about this book called "Inside the divide" by Richard Wilson on the rivalry between Rangers and this green club. I thought about getting it, has anybody heard about or read it themselves, any recommendations or thoughts?
  13. Again, I cannot believe CG is considering this and what bewilderes me even more is how uncritical bluenoses seem to be about this. CG's inventiveness obviously has no limits which is great, but we need to show him the thin red line where there is no money to be made. And that to me certainly is the name of our stadium.
  14. I aggree that times change but football is certainly a different story than consoles or cars mate. I don't understand why nobody sees that selling the name of a stadium that's stood in it's place for almost 115 years is problematic. Again, I have to ask if anybody would be okay if we sold the name Rangers FC, I mean times change right? The name is just history so we might as well call ourselves Sporting Glasgow, have a swan in our logo and play in green jerseys. ALL of this is the identity of your club and NOT to be changed. Lokk over to Cardiff what happens there, some Malaysian investor changed their emblem and jersey colour and the fans just swalloed it. Horror!
  15. Not sure if I'm comfortable with giving the man so much premature praise.
  16. 100% agree, well put chilledbear
  17. I fully understand and appreciate every argument for re- naming Ibrox, it does make sense from a business point of view and if that money would be re- invested to, say, offer tickets for less money that sounds fine. Just a gut feeling this is complete wrong and therefore should not happen. What if CG came up with the idea to re- design our emblem to include the Tennants logo in it? That would create some cash as well. Or change the name into Tesco Rangers FC. I know I'm exaggerating but it's all been there in other leagues. For me there are borders in football that aren't to be crossed for the sake of profit.
  18. We need to cast men with enormous hands!
  19. Might need a bigger size than Ian though...
  20. Sweet. Thinking about picking one of these up.
  21. He is a creative mind and that is generally good indeed. As pete said he may have to watch out which ideas he puts out there to be discussed and how he displays them, for they might be seen as facts. The problem I have is that amongst all his creative ideas some might be over the top, he's businessman after all. It is on us to be critical and restrict his plans if they get all too pie in the sky. Sell of stadium name is exactly that, might create money which is what he as a businessman looks for, but I as a fan do not want this!
  22. That sounds fantastic. Give them multiple body searches and dismantle their equipment for security reasons. Maybe somebody could smuggle some explosives into their gear while theyre at it and let the detection dog have a sniff, that would be a lot of fun.
  23. Does anybody have an update on who's making our strips? Somebody said it was confirmed to be Adidas, is that the case? Anyway, I really loved our Umbro shirts over the years but getting some new designers on the case can never be wrong. I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about Puma just out of personal taste, I don't like their jerseys and numbers usually look goofy and funny. Quality certainly isn't the best as far is I've experienced. As to the name rights for Ibrox, for some reason I can't see this as eased as everybody else here. Every Bundesliga club has sold the name rights to their stadiums a number of years ago, creating reavolting names like easy- credit - Stadion, HSH Nordbank Arena or Signal Iduna Park. Nobody continued to call the stadiums by their original names after a while. Ask any 15 year old who is fan of a Bundesliga club if they remember the the original name of the stadium their club plays in, none of them will. It certainly is a different issue with Ibrox I see, but selling a bit of history of this great club of ours to make a little profit is something I can hardly stomach. That is a bad call by CG to me.
  24. I'd still enjoy a ban of the BBC "journos" and "commentators" from Ibrox, at least for some time to give them a pointer that we won't put up with their little taunts.
  25. That's not quite going to provide the epic picture I had in mind but anyway, would be highly appreciated andy. As for the "zombie"- chants/ banners, seems to be the only thing the fhannies get excited about these days. Away win in the Champions League? Nevermind, as long as they can have their stupid running gag (that is not making any sense by the way). Once again, hooped horrors more concerned with us than with their "great" club. I'd say let them have it, everybody's got the right to make an arse of himself.
