  1. Frankie, I completely agree. The same rules for all should be adopted. But we all know that they're not, and if elements of our support do bring out the old song book, it will be picked up, reported and the club dragged through the mud and likely have the book thrown at us. It's very easy to say "turn the other cheek" and "hold ourselves to the highest standards", but that's what we have to do. Get rid of the big bad rangers argument and then we can start reporting other clubs as the Celtic fans appear to. If we don't sort our own house out first, we'll not get anywhere with that.
  2. The easy way to stop out fans being arrested and jailed for singing things that they shouldn't be (rightly or wrongly) is not to sing them. Simple. Once we've cleaned up our own house, we can worry about others but until we do we're going to get pelters for it. It's time the support got away from archaic history that has nothing to do with Rangers, focus on the club, our history and our future!
  3. I seem to recall it used to be this way. 2 subs, then this got stretched to 2 subs plus a keeper. Eventually this got extended to 3 subs after teams started using the sub keeper in the last minutes to kill a bit of time. Might be wrong though...
  4. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced we wont see 22 players finish this game!
  5. If I had to put money on this one, I'd probably back them. We've not really hit form this season and I think we're a year or so off being strong contenders. However, if we find form on the day there's no reason we can't beat them, we've proved that last year! It's going to be an interesting yard stick, their confidence may well come back to haunt them (again!) and certainly fuels our players. I'm expecting confrontation and frustration, especially if we start well. Chances of something between Broonie and Barton? Pretty high I think, certainly don't bet against a red card in this one (depending on the ref it could be either way, Barton's cleaned up his act the past couple of years, but this is Scotland and he's wearing the light blue, that's provocation enough for some) remember Brown's rather foolish booking for winding up Diouf after scoring? Expect more of the same idiocy from him. Overall, I think we'll probably lose it and I'm concerned that without strong officials we may pick up injuries, but I'm certainly hopeful of being wrong! Needless to say, after recent events, it's now more important than ever that our fans behave themselves and don't give any reason to draw attention to themselves. Hopefully we can drop the sectarian crap and focus on the football. We've got a good side, playing attractive footie, we don't need to drag ourselves down with the other rubbish. Whether we agree with what's deemed offensive or not, and regardless of what other clubs fans may be doing, we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard, by virtue of being Rangers fans and as a result of the higher level of scrutiny. Let's finally prove ourslves!
  6. Pete, want to give me odds that in the event both Rangers and Celtic were invited by the EFA, the "SFA" would grant permission for them but not us?
  7. One has to wonder how Nir Britton feels about all the Palestinian flags...
  8. Just checked on Bet365, they'v got us 1/3 to win on Saturday. Even better, HalfTime\FullTime has us almost evens! Money for the taking!
  9. Controversially, but I can see a justification in this. I don't agree and think it will be an OF 1/2 as usual. However, this is first time for the "new look rangers" in the SPL and we're going to have to find our feet. A lot of new signings that will take some time to fully gel. It's fair to assume we might not be on our game straight out of the blocks (although the cup games so far don't really support the view) and our defensive frailties from last season haven't really been addressed. I do think we'll make top 2 and threaten for the championship, but I can see an argument that we may well find ourselves outside the top 2 this season.
  10. So.... have we signed RVP yet?
  11. That's good to hear, presumably means there wasn't any as it would be reported heavily if there was!
  12. Controversial thought (for some at least) but if we, as a support, give them nothing to focus on regarding the singing, then they wont have anywhere else to look when it comes to these matters. Yes, throwing of objects into the field of play, aimed at visiting players is obviously a bigger concern than singing, at least to any right minded person. But if we're not singing things we shouldn't be (whether you agree or not, that's what has been determined) then they can't focus on us. If we can clean up our act as a support then we can force the attention elsewhere as we need to!
  13. I assume I'm missing something. How are we aware this is a rangers fan?
  14. Hmm, Celtic shares trading at about 73p currently (according to Google). How many shares would it take to have an impact and what could an organised Rangers Support do with such a holding?
  15. You have to love the vagaries of language. "The cost to the UK taxpayer could be up to £94M" is technically an accurate statement so difficult to challenge. On the other hand, "The cost to the UK taxpayer could exceed £1.49" is equally accurate but doesn't have quite the same impact!
  16. Shocking that there's still no official word on anything. Maybe we need to organise our own pitch invasion at the start of next season, threaten and assault opposition fans, players and staff. At least that way we can have a benchmark set for how quickly clubs are punished for such actions!
  17. D'Art, I wasn't aware of the social media projected intention of invasion, that certainly should have been picked up on. All in all I agree that the response and actions were woefully under prepared, my only thought was, given there were only a couple of minutes between goal and full time, the police were probably still responding given that there wasn't likely to be an invasion due to the expectation of extra time. They didn't react quick enough.
  18. Pretty sure any songs glorifying the IRA wouldn't be very welcome in either Manchester or London in particular!
  19. The involvement of the match officials lends another angle to this. One assumes that given they felt such action was necessary, it will form part of the match report submitted to the SFA? Surely at that point action will be required? Would also be interesting to see the match delegate's report...
  20. If those in authority (notably the SFA and Hibs) continue to deny or (worse) excuse the violent behavior towards our players and staff, then we should surely be considering legal action through the courts for failure to adhere to the duty of care that these organisations have towards member clubs\opposition. Put the facts before a judge and jury (although finding an impartial jury may be difficult!) and let them see what they make of the facts and the excuses! I really can't believe some of the comment I've seen made.
  21. At least there are some pictures out there showing this kind of thing, makes it so much harder to sweep under the carpet.
  22. I believe Sky have already handed over relevant footage. I see no reason that they wouldn't have done so, it's not like they're BBC Scotland!
  23. Celtic fans? No, surely they were all Rangers fans in the Hibs end?
  24. The Sky angle is interesting. I watched the match on Sky and was really impressed with the vision of their commentators as things were kicking off, it didn't take long for them to make mention of rangers fans starting fights during the pitch invasion, I could only see a sea of green myself!
