Anyone watch them? Are they any good? Asking for a friend.

Just saw highlights. Atletico looked better.

Saw him score two at Hampden 1966. Jimmy Johnstone scored two as well in a dazzling display that wrecked England’s defence. Sadly Scotland’s defence wasn’t great either that day. 3-4. Seems wrong to criticise Johnstone after a truly great performance but I’ll do it. While bewildering the defenders, he often bewildered himself and lost sight of the goal and his team-mates. Beat your man twice if you must but resist the temptation to do it a third time and get the ball away. That’s where Henderson was the better player. More productive. Fantastic theatre, though. If the game had gone on another ten minutes he would have equalised, maybe won it. On the other hand, Hunt might have got a third.

What was the attendance on Saturday?

Brighton draw and don’t make top spot. Their first and only chance missed. If only they had swooped for Windass in the window.

True words, Bill. I wish large swathes of the population could come to grips with that. -
Brighton will go to the top if they win at Palace tomorrow. Whit? Rousseau will be in raptures.

Shoulder charge a little bit off target and a wafting forearm at the end but never a penalty.

I really dislike this lateral stroll-ball the team are playing. It was acceptable (but only just) with Barcelona and City because you knew that every so often they would burst out of their coma with electrifying pace and devastate the defence. -
True. Did I ever tell you about my 9/11 experience?

Another source quoted above claims the victim was somebody’s granny. Within days all manner of injured OAPs, wee lassies and wee laddies will be trotted out, many of whom probably never left Perth that fateful night. Must have been some hoof the despicable Griffiths gave the firework.

Good games this weekend. City don’t cope well with Chelsea but they should have won the Cl Final 4-1. Will they falloff the Bridge tomorrow? Not this time. Chelsea 0-2 City United 3-1 Villa Toffees 0-1 Canaries (Hope not) Leeds 1-2 Hammers Leicester 3-1 Burnley Watford 2-0 Magpies Bees 0-3 Liverpool So’ton 2-1 Wolves Gunners 0-0 ‘Spurs Palace 0-2 Brighton & Hove Galacticos

Bear in mind the Court action is at the instance of Parks, not Rangers. Separate entitities. Lend credence to Timothy’s dreams. Bisgrove spent the summer hawking stadium naming rights. He reports to the Board that he can sign up some second hand car salesmen. Rangers hand in glove with cinch ‘til the SPFL lure cinch away with a better offer and Rangers, miffed, refuse to take part. So far, so good for the green dreamers Here’s the rude awakening. Bisgrove reports to the Board but Directors with significant shareholdings say no thanks, try again. Can’t see the problem but to be fair, SPFL senior counsel, Lord Keen of Elie, knows more than I do about this kind of stuff.

Two - nil down in a cup tie, ten minutes to go and Livingston reluctant to visit the last third of the pitch, what’s the point? May as well have conceded when the second went in. -

Poor chap may not have a playing future. -
We know the answer to that. Rangers should do the opposite.

… in one of the funny Cup competitions despite a 3-0 defeat at Ayr. Ayr fielded two ineligible players but only as substitutes in the last nine minutes when they were already three goals up. Ayr have been reprimanded and the tie has been awarded to Rangers B who are now scheduled to play Alloa in the next round. Right decision by the Beaks. It would also be right for Rangers B not to take advantage of a mistake that had no effect whatsoever on the result of the tie and withdraw from the Competition. Just a shame that Alloa would be the beneficiaries.

The Eye of the Tiger, a book on the great captain, available on Amazon at £15.99 from 11 October. I can’t copy the cover illustration but check it on Amazon and you’ll see why Bobby Shearer, Tam Forsyth and Don Corleone aren’t so frightening after all.

It’s wrong to pick defenders who sleep-walk during the day. I only switched on ten minutes ago. In that time the defence blundered thrice and an excellent opportunity for a goal for Rangers was wasted. -
Greaves had an eye for the space in the goal area where the ball was likely to go and he’d be there to meet it while every other player was still trying to work it out. Think of Roofe against Dunfermline. Greaves must have scored umpteen like that.
