McTominay the poor man’s John Greig.

I never watch football discussions on the telly. Who’s the geezer in the green jacket?

The People went on to beat Morton in the final 1-0 after replay. gub on FF tells this joke about it. A Scotsman made his fortune and went on a tour of America in the course of which he met a Chief of the Navajo tribe, renowned for knowing the answer to any question. The tourist asked the winner of the 1948 Scottish Cup. “Rangers, beat Morton 1-0” replied the great Chief. The Scotsman returned ten years later to try another question but first he greeted the Chief, Indian style, saying “How” and raising a hand. The immediate response from the sage: “Diving header, Billy Williamson in extra time.” Don’t blame me. I didn’t invent it.

To be serious - I’ll try anything once - might the Allardyce of ten, maybe even five, years ago be just the chap for ‘Spurs? He would need a cerebral chap like Potter or Howe as assistant but he might sort out the egos and the fainthearted.

Maybe so but just about every EPL club can out-bump even the might tic.

Wrong end of the table for Big Sam.

If you got a decent price for your Range Rover you might not have to borrow at all. In reality I suppose the major investors would want to get their money back. How much of a premium on top of that sellers could hope for, I have no idea.

Uilleam has already advised that it’s the Greeks.

Either or both?

To cheer for your home town team against the Herri-Rotters? From Riccarton to the San Siro - great. I wouldn’t mind doing that. To Hell with Vegas, Bali and other such boring places. We’ll be needing a critique of the pies on sale at the respective grounds.

‘s boring innit? Not always so. It used to be like going to see Rangers with star guest performers. Since the war fifteen players have captained Scotland while on Rangers’ books. Four of the Iron Curtain did it, Jock Shaw, Geordie Young, Willie Woodburn and Sammy Cox. The ‘keeper Bobby Brown and surprisingly, Ian McColl didn’t. Both made up for that omission by later successfully managing the National side. Eric Caldow and John Greig were each fifteen times captain. Jim Baxter, Sandy Jardine, Tam Forsyth, Graeme Souness, Richard Gough, Colin Hendry, Super, Barry Ferguson and Kenny Miller all got at least one shot at it though Souness’ last match as Scotland captain occurred when he had signed for the Famous but hadn’t actually played in a club game. Stephen Presslie, Christian Dailly and Davie Weir were Scotland Captains but not as Rangers players. Gary McAllister also did the job. Never a Rangers player, of course but he did a bit of assistant-managing. The greatest captain of them all was George Young on no less than forty eight occasions. There’s a photo of Young and England’s redoubtable Billy Wright leading the teams out. Wright was no skelf but Young towers over him. Having looked all this up, I’m now fired with enthusiasm to the extent that I might possibly try to find out against whom Scotland are playing. If the weather’s bad and there’s nothing else on the telly, I might even watch them. But only if Ryan Jack plays.

Who’ll be going to ‘Spurs? The Angel of the East? Tuchel?
-
Palace? Or Chelsea, or ‘Spurs?

Correct in every word. Is that a job application?

I didn’t see the game but because Cantwell has become a media target, he must have been MoTM.

By God, yes.

3-2 Blades with the usual last minute winner. I was sort of hoping Rovers would win but I’m reasonably happy with the result. Best match I’ve seen for a long time. Plenty of good football. Not much sophisticated football. If I want that I’ll watch a boring CL match.

Cracking quarter-final at Bramall Lane. Two proper clubs, two proper strips and two terrific saves from the United ‘keeper, chap called Foderingham. Should we be looking at him?
-
I thought his name was Notgoodenuff?

Maybe Robertson is very good at the back of house admin drudgery but I agree a new front man is needed. The problem is, we would never get one acceptable to all the tribes of Rangers. Returning to today’s game, though not the actual football, I see reports that Motherwell ultras have decided to do something else this afternoon rather than attend the match - pictures, messages, winching, who knows? Part of the current fashion to wave your arms about something probably.
