  1. Forest 2-1 Brighton Bournemouth 1-1 Liverpool Everton 2-1 Leicester Ipswich 1-0 Southampton Newcastle 3-1 Fulham Wolves 0-2 Villa Brentford 1-3 ‘Spurs United 2-0 Palace Arsenal 1-2 Man City Chelsea 3-0 Hammers Critical day for Forest. B’mouth hard to beat. Gunners still frail.
  2. Nijinsky again reincarnated as Colin Bell. What a player. What a team.
  3. Nijinsky.
  4. I’d like to see the Lancastrian quartet of North End, Rovers, Burnley and Bolton Wanderers back in the top league. It’ll never happen but when I was a football daft young lad they were all First Division contenders. Liverpool and City were in the old Second Division, United were on the rise and Everton were the Masters of Soccer Science. Of course the greatest team in all the world was the famous Glasgow Rangers. Still is. (One’s childhood innocence never leaves one entirely)
  5. He’ll know nothing about it. His butler and valet accompany him to matches with a hamper of the finest fare. I believe the sandwiches have the crusts cut off. The Earl Grey is brewed in situ and poured from a silver teapot. Wine, of course, for the late summer and early spring matches otherwise Courvoisier or the Linkwood for colder weather. Clos de Mesnil for cup finals naturally.
  6. On the contrary. Let’s talk money. £8.5M starts the bidding.

    Strikers

    Pity about the remaining 75.
  8. Could happen.
  9. That is provocation. Surely the Irish Ambassador could do something to end this vile sectarianism. President Biden, perhaps? (Sorry, too late) The Vatican guy, then.
  10. Thank you but I’m not tempted by the artistes nor their likely proramme.
  11. The discerning gourmet visiting lower league grounds will need this in his pocket. Pitches & Pies (Bruce Walker) (New Generation Publishing) DISCLOSURE: The author is a connected person.
  12. Walsh will be up before the beaks for that. The beaks will tell Walsh that his intention was good but it should have been more discreetly put into effect and preferably much earlier in the match. Undisclosed penances.
  13. He never said that. Tipped them strongly for second place though.
  14. I’ll wait ’til Villa are three nil up with twenty minutes to go before I join in.
  15. Good footballer but not a fullback. Sell and buy a couple of tacklers.
  16. A victory over the Rangers is a massive confidence booster for a smaller club.
  17. A good game of football judging by the tv highlights (which is not a good way to to assess a match) The defence really needs a pair of bruisers who can head the ball. The current lot are weak. Some of them - ok, Jefte - turns his back on the cross instead of blocking it with his face if need be. He’s a good footballer but he’s not a defender. Davie Robertson wasn’t a big lad but he was afraid of nothing. Butland was good. The attacking play was good. Dessers was excellent. Has he turned a corner just as he’s about to leave? United played pretty well. Had a real go. Never ever a red card. Anyone else see a physical resemblance between Clancy and Walsh and even to a lesser extent Robertson? Not quite brothers but cousins
  18. The semi-literacy of it leads me to believe it’s genuine.
  19. Too many foreigners. They don’t know the history.
  20. You made your point long ago but you’re not recognising the false premise.
  21. I’d go for Fulham v United. Cottagers are playing nicely and United will be on a high after their midweek giant-killing.
  22. That and the rest of the post I agree with 99.9999%. Very well put. The 0001% is the old motto argument. The RFCSA motto is “Aye Ready”. The Rangers motto is “Ready”.
  23. Acid test for Forest. Win their next and they’re fine. Lose and they’re the Aberdeen of England.
  24. The Lads are flaking it.
