  1. The 1967 Euro Cup Winners final was very disappointing because of a result in another competition but it was Bayern in Germany so no surprise. My worst Euro final is the two legged affair with Fiorentina. I expected to win that one because Rangers were a really good side at the time. Manchester was a miracle the team had got that far. Seville? I had a feeling Rangers had shot their bolt in the earlier rounds. None of these results was humiliating. None of the opponents was a minnow.

compo has mentioned a League Cup Final that ended in catastrophe. Strangely the fuss died down after a few days. Rangers signed Willie Telfer and all was well. It was only during our niar that the tims revived the memory of it to give them some comfort in their anguish. In a way the 5-1 at parkhead in 1966 was worse because the resurrection was a long time coming.

Therefore, combining, shock, humiliation and minnows, the front runners in the Competition of Shame are Gonzo’s Raith and 26th’s Chesterfield.

    Chesterfield wins. By a distance.

I think losing the Ramsdens Cup Final was worse.

Still pissed off about that one to this day.

What is Rangers’ biggest letdown? There’s a list I’m afraid. Confining it to cup finals would make an interesting topic or even a poll but I’m not starting one in case I get banned.

Youth and inexperience might get me off, though.

  3. Hmmmm. West Midlands or Glesca? Black Country can be nice in winter, I hear and you can commute easily from the Cotswolds. On the other hand, Glesca gives you a free ticket to Europe.

Postecoglou is on the way up, sadly. Sadly, Wolves are on the way down. The twain shall not meet.

  4. He would be the continuation candidate but Wolves are more in need of Sean Dyche to Burnleyise them i.e. keep them up for a few years. They had an outstanding post-promotion season playing nice football and getting a Europa League place. Perhaps that wasn’t such a good thing because playing in the extra competition, they fell back in the domestic league and last season all the warning signals were there as they floundered about just above the basement.

  5. Wolves have sacked Bruno Lage. Looks like they'll be joining their Black Country mates, West Brom, in the Championship although Baggies themselves are flirting with another relegation to League 1.

Wolves have been on the slide since they sold the real Jota to Liverpool.
