There's more than a hint of the club standing still at the moment and it's simply time to energise and move forward again. Which is why its so disappointing to see the visceral reluctance among some fans to contemplate new investors. Without new blood with skin in the game I think the likely outcome will be more stagnation.

Skin in the game is the key, isn’t it?

  2. The velocity of Cooper’s free-kick appeared to increase with distance travelled defying the laws of physics

Archetypal Durrant finish for the second goal. How often did we see that?

It used to be good fun to make fun of Leighton but swop ‘keepers for the day and that game doesn’t go to extra time.

The current board are certainly reaching a difficult juncture.

One that shows just how difficult it is to make a a club accustomed to run at a loss into a sustainable business and keep everyone happy.

Correct. Was Lawrence Marlborough our wealthiest ever owner? Even he had to turn off the tap after a few years.

The ball will start rolling when the fans start emptying the stands.  Then and only then will the board take notice.

I thought we didn’t do walking away.

Is it possible that the 'philosophy' of

"No tricks, tricks are for the circus" is straitjacketing those players who have a trick, or two, in their locker, say, Kent, and Matondo, and is contributing, majorly,to lack of form?

A good point. Imagine a coach saying that to Baxter or Henderson. Or Gazza or Laudrup.

  6. Villa obliterate Brentford 4-0. Too late, Stevie.

Arsenal held to a draw by So’ton.

Wolves walloped 0-4 by City. No disgrace except it was Leicester not Manchester.

Magpies flying up to fourth after a 1-2 win at ‘Spurs.

Who out there can do the job when or if the manager gets the old sailor's farewell.

    Dyche.

Some basic Walter-style football with a bit of discipline. After he’s steadied the ship and perhaps put a couple of torpedoes into celtic, that’s the time to bring in some young, pop-eyed, long-haired continental genius to ruin it all sgain.

  8. In the car this afternoon so had no option but Sportsound for twenty minutes either side of halftime. Don’t know who the commentator was (not Squealam McLeod) but he didn’t once mention the champions’ stellar victory at Tynecastle nor did he big-up Livingston’s epic defence. He did go on a bit about any Rangers player receiving the ball in space immediately passing it backwards.

Whoever he was is unlikely to broadcast again.

Point 1 - so what? King is sniping because he wants his money back and there's been a fall-out along the way but that's always going to happen with business owners with massive egos

The head of the nail well and truly struck.

I agreed with the rest of the analysis except the bit about the US Court case. Rangers abandoned it. No reference to the other side undertaking not to use the logo so that suggests Rangers got out before things went badly. No reference to expenses. None due to or by either party would be an draw, I suppose.

  10. The chalice is poisoned but the right necromancer could detoxify it. See the Souness/Smith reference above. Who the right men for Villa would be, I don’t know. @Rousseauis suggesting Postecoglou as he always does. This time, he could be right. But would Villa run the risk of another big fish from a tiny puddle?

And why he took the Villa job I do not know, if ever there was a poisoned chalice it is that club. He must have really wanted to leave to take that turd of a job.

I disagree about Villa. They’ve got a name and a following and a bit of money. A Brummie Souness and Smith combination would transform them.

SG’s managerial record is not a good one.
