  1. 0-3. City on their way.
  2. I’d hang on hoping for Everton or Arsenal.
  3. It’ll be a surprise if they manage to get it right at last.
  4. There is a footballer there. I think he loses heart when things don’t come off for him. Some of the things he tried in the penalty box were just inches away from opening up the road to goal. He reminds me of Van Vossen. Not for the terrible missed chance, just his general style and movement.
  5. Tav is too old now to learn how to mark his man. You can do it standing in front (Porrini) or, conventionally, standing behind but not like Tavernier, standing a couple of yards to the side.
  6. You have preempted my predictions so here are my hopes instead. Top four. Arsenal, Newcastle, City, Wolves. Surprise. Wolves Relegated. Luton, Bournemouth, Palace.
  7. Not so long as compo’s got a voting button to press.
  8. I am Cantwell’s biggest doubter but last night he was excellent - here, there, everywhere, creating, disrupting, an absolute standout. Still not convinced, though. Soutar and Barisic played very well.
  9. Correct. The team goes two up and for a couple of minutes think they’ve got the game and they’re going to win it. Some players suddenly think from past experience that they might not. Their doubt breeds indecision and that spreads to the rest and you’re right, they lose focus.
  10. I liked our new left back. Reminded me of a player we had a couple of years ago.
  11. Lammers, Dessers. Lucky we didn’t go for the third guy, Duffers.
  12. The hell with that. COME ON ‘GERS. STEAM INTO THESE NAPKINS.
  13. Yep. Never saw any o’ them red varmints a-whoopin’ and a hollerin’ round the wagon train with any sort of a beard. Could interfere considerably with the scalping procedure, I should imagine.
  14. See all this stubble business - dos it mean you’re well hard or that you’re too lazy to get out of your bed in the morning?
  15. Burnley away. What a mess.
  16. 1 Newcastle 2 Forest 3 Burnley 4 Everton 5 Wolves
  17. The Daily Telegraph Online today has an article on the Premier League’s kits for the coming season. They are illustrated with an option to vote for or against. Most have received a clear majority of votes against. The few approved outfits are the plainest and most straightforward. Some, especially Away kits are truly diabolical. You couldn’t look at Arsenal’s for ninety minutes without suffer severe damage to the eyes. Umbro made 5, Nike and Addidas 4 each, Castore 3. Other makers accounted for the remainder.
  18. Switch on at kickoff, mute, boil the kettle at half time, don’t hang around for the post-match stuff.
  19. There is no player who can take control and drive the team forward. Manchester City play a bit of sideways stuff but the passes are swift and accurate. What City can do, however, is suddenly inject rocket pace and lethal finishing. Usually. Just not on Saturday.
  20. I doubt if Sterling will be fit. The left backs are equally poor in different ways. I prefer Hagi to Cantwell. Roofe should play if he can get out of his bathchair even if only for half an hour. Cifuentes may or may not be an improvement on the alternatives. Danilo probably is. Rangers need to keep it tight and hope to finish the job at Ibrox
