  1. And now. It must be easier for the attacking players to make plays without worrying that mistakes are going to lead to goals against and a ball lost will soon be returned to them.
  2. It’s a start. The rest is easier when that’s been sorted.
  3. Thought it was King who did the persuading.
  4. Well, that’s a good start.
  5. The voice of reason. Thank you.
  6. I thought I might give that a laugh but decided to agree instead.
  7. I’m content with Butland. I’d be very happy if he could more often grasp the low ball first time when diving. Danilo - possibly. Lammers - some football in him but maybe can’t produce it under stress. Dessers - see other topic. Sima - manages to score so maybe. Cifuentes - nothing good comes out of LA. Raskin - disappointing this season Cantwell - still not convinced. Who else? Sterling - forgot about him. So has Beale, apparently.
  8. He’s had about half a dozen nice touches but he’s slow. I’m not talking about pace over the ground. He knows what he’s trying to do but his stumbling feet won’t let him. He’s not as good as Waghorn.
  9. Gerrard would have been given more players if he had managed his team to best Malmö at home from pole position.
  10. I doubt if better calibre is affordable or willing to take the job.
  11. Bad day for Manchester. Palace defeat United at OT and Wolves have an excellent victory over City. Two consecutive defeats for Guardiola. Sack the Board.
  12. Forty five minutes to go.
  13. 1-2 down to Luton Town. (HT) Meantime the repute of golden boys Brighton tarnished at the Villa. 6-1. See what happens when you get rid of SG and Beale.
  14. I’d be putting in a transfer request if I were one of their players.
  15. How do they square that with their pyoor speshull relationship with Royal Madrid?
  16. Naw. Yet again.
  17. Not me, though I thought he would do better than he’s done so far. As for players I was pleased when Butland signed. I’d never heard of the rest of them. I confess hope for Danilo when I learned he was being kept out of his team by a really good player. Lammers may prove me wrong if he gets time.
  18. Willoughby wasn’t in the team for the Berwick cup-tie so was spared the threat of the axe. He played the following week in a league match against the Hearts and scored three. He left Rangers at the end of 68/69.
  19. Struck the fiercest shot I ever saw, a volley from about fifteen yards at Tynecastle. Didn’t score but the crossbar that got in the way shivered for what seemed like ages. Actually, five seconds. Poor McNeill. Thought Millar was out of the way for a while and along came Forrest.
  20. Bring him home. It’s safe. O’Neill’s gone.
  21. Willie Rae. Never going to replace McColl or Cox but stayed for years. Played when required for the odd game or a run of games and never failed.
  22. Not made any spectacular flying saves but I like that in a ‘keeper because it means their positioning and anticipation are good. Slight weakness diving to his right not gathering the ball first time but I’m very happy with him. Not scared to lambast idle defenders.
  23. Chelsea, United, Rangers - what are they all doing wrong?
  24. I hope so..
