  1. Low risk but not low cost strategy.
  2. I’m sure you’re right MacK. It sometimes seems every ‘keeper in the league pulls off wonder saves against Rangers
  3. I hope you don’t mean this signals capitulation to the East.
  4. From above: “Scott Wright is set for a permanent move to English Championship side Preston according to reports.” Preston North End have never managed to replace Tom Finney. It seems the search goes on.
  5. Never give the coppers an even break.
  6. Wretched Magpies should have saved some of their ‘Spurs/BHA goals for last night.
  7. I wasn’t overwhelmed when Arfield signed on and a couple of years ago I wouldn’t have been much bothered by him leaving. Now he’s the only one of the five whom I see as having any residual worth. Good honest tradesman.
  8. While on the distasteful subject of Gordon, can I record my personal pleasure at his and his rancid club’s relegation?
  9. Late to see the tv highlights. Random observations: Souttar reminds me of the actor who plays the part of Cormoran Strike in the ITV series. Good player so far, Cantwell but if he’s not getting a real haircut he’s got to lose the pale blue ribbon. What would Sammy Cox have said? Hagi’s goal. Right foot then left foot. (But ach, he’s far too slow so I’m told)
  10. On a point of information, Mr 26th and in fairness to wee Dickie loon, he did not go so far as to say Sebo should be caged and he was not the instigator of the incident. He was, however, guilty as an accessory and is deservedly liable for the same punishment as the producer who set him up, namely excoriation for all time. I’ve just seen the highlights from Easter Road. The commentator wasn’t named. I think it was Squeelum McLeod. His preliminary observations contained remarks that Rangers “would be in for a game today” and “Alfredo Morelos nowhere to be seen as his Ibrox career comes to an inglorious end”. As the teams came out of the tunnel he yelped “Seven years to the day since Hibs’ victory over Rangers in the SCF”. That event was referenced several times during the match ending with the scorer of the Hibs goal accoladed as “one of the 2016 heroes”. Throughout, during attacking play, McLeod’s voice trembled either with excitement if it were Hibs and anxiety if it were Rangers. He’s a wee scamp, so he is. How does a bloke with a voice like that get to commentate on the wireless?
  11. From a man who saw John Valentine and should therefore know a rubbish centre half when he sees one.
  12. Very interesting question. I don’t know enough goalkeeping science to answer properly but my instinct would be to go for the ball, catch it with luck, otherwise get it away from anywhere within ten yards or so of the goal line. A top ‘keeper will know by instinct or by experience when to come and when to stay put. I wonder if McGregor’s attitude was ‘have the ball if you like, I’ll still stop you.’ It worked fine until last season.
  13. The idiot who posted above in my name should have quoted the earlier learned Sky discussion about the Hibs’ ‘keeper’s positioning. I’ll get him back up to the attic.
  14. City Champions, three in a row. Pity Arsenal didn’t keep their mid-season form. This time last year you wouldn’t have backed them for s top six let alone runners-up.
  15. Ah, so that’s where it all went wrong.
  16. I would prefer McRorie as first choice over a bloke who was good apart from a crisis of confidence. Anyone know any ex-keepers who could give an informed opinion on McRorie?
  17. Wednesday’s outfit is nifty as is that of their city rivals. From a distance it looks traditional. Closeup you see all the daft patterns. It’s football not the folies bergère for God’s sake.
  18. Josh ‘Heart of a Lion’ Windass? That Josh Windass? To be fair he was MOTM in the FA cup tie against the Mags. Unrecognisable from his Ibrox days.
  19. The centre banner top photo looks like a flag for the amalgamated club Heart of West Ham.
  20. Did he not say “other mob”? You’ll know better than I, YB, but in English English is the use of “other mob” not a reasonably friendly distinction? Depends on the tone of voice, I suppose.
