I highly commend a new book Pitches and Pies by Bruce Walker available on Amazon. An interesting commentary on what used to be called Junior and Non-League football grounds, the pies available there, the in-play conversations with players and officials and the joys of match day travel.
Caveat: The author has an addiction to Aberdeen FC. It’s largely at a controlled level now but one chapter covers a match at Pittodrie. Lower League? Hmmm - maybe one day.
Disclosure: The author is known to me. An excellent fellow despite the above.

Big Sam and Warnock partnership with Dick Campbell coordinating the whole show we’d be unstoppable.
This will put @Rousseauin hospital for six months if he reads it.

At least Sam would keep us safe from relegation.

Chris Jack reporting Muscat has an interview today via Zoom.
If true, Rangers have either been unprepared for the event or have been turned down by better options.

From the list I voted Clement just ahead of Hasenhuttl. The latter was greatly feted on radio in the early part of his So’ton career. Radio and TV darlings usually fail sooner rather than later.
The title of the vote is next manager, not next interim manager otherwise I would have voted Warnock for a season of damage limitation pending a long term appointment. Who that appointee should be, I do not know.
Get a much vaunted “name” and give him the money to buy top players on the United/Chelsea model. Success would be inevitable. Or perhaps not.

Symon, Wallace, Souness, Smith, McLeish all came from relative obscurity in managerial terms
I see what you’re getting at and you’re right but i’d exclude Scot Symon from the example. With East Fife he won promotion, won the League Cup and got the team to a Scottish Cup Final appearance. With Preston North End, a notable club in those days, he took them to a FA Cup Final and impressively PNE finished second in Division 1 on the same points total as the champions Arsenal, losing the title on goal average.
And he took five wickets for Scotland against Australia. Serial winner.4 -

Tavernier has seen off an awful lot of managers. Just saying
Very true but he’s not been injured as Graeme Ro55’s post suggested.

Charlie Miller and Derek Ferguson were saying on a pod that there are a couple injured Rangers players who have miraculously recovered for training. Sure the same happened when Gio got sacked and MB came in. If I could give one piece of advice to the next Rangers manager it would be, "keep an eye on these players".
Transfer list them. I suspect Roofe and maybe Barisic.

I see Francis Lee has passed away good little wholehearted player and I seem to remember his punch up with Norman Hunter
Lee’s City team one of the best ever.

Davie White took Clyde to third in the league and, after us won the League Cup with Dundee.
That Clyde side - see what I did there? - was a rattling good one. At Shawfield in those bygone days.

Maybe in the past.
And now. It must be easier for the attacking players to make plays without worrying that mistakes are going to lead to goals against and a ball lost will soon be returned to them.

It's not enough now.
The game has moved on.
It’s a start. The rest is easier when that’s been sorted.

Thought it was King who did the persuading.

Scottish coaches are rubbish; all they know how to do is organise and defend.
Well, that’s a good start.

I'm sorry to say it, but Dessers makes Sebo seem like Harry Kane.
I thought I might give that a laugh but decided to agree instead.

Have any of Beale's buys cut the mustard
I’m content with Butland. I’d be very happy if he could more often grasp the low ball first time when diving.
Danilo - possibly.
Lammers - some football in him but maybe can’t produce it under stress.
Dessers - see other topic.
Sima - manages to score so maybe.
Cifuentes - nothing good comes out of LA.
Raskin - disappointing this season
Cantwell - still not convinced.
Who else? Sterling - forgot about him. So has Beale, apparently.

He’s had about half a dozen nice touches but he’s slow. I’m not talking about pace over the ground. He knows what he’s trying to do but his stumbling feet won’t let him. He’s not as good as Waghorn.

Gerrard would have been given more players if he had managed his team to best Malmö at home from pole position.

Bad day for Manchester. Palace defeat United at OT and Wolves have an excellent victory over City.
Two consecutive defeats for Guardiola. Sack the Board.

Meantime the repute of golden boys Brighton tarnished at the Villa. 6-1. See what happens when you get rid of SG and Beale.

[2023] Who should be the next Rangers manager?

There’s an argument that your last dram should be a decent one but no, you’re probably right. If the next thing you swallow is a bullet, a Balvenie would be a waste of money.
