  1. Robertson the Forest winger or Robertson of the Hearts? It doesn’t matter because if Willie Henderson’s not around, you don’t drop Jimmy Johnstone. While you’re on about Robertsons, you’re spot on about Davie. Superb player but Broon and Roxburgh didn’t see it.
  2. You’re perfectly entitled to tell me that. For years I was perfectly happy with Murray despite the warnings from FF’s Grand Old Man. It was near the end before I saw he was right. Does the current board not have some hotshot US management and investment expert advising them? There was a great announcement about a year ago but nothing since. Lack of money is crippling. All the more reason not to waste it. The biggest recruitment error was Pedro followed by Beale. There are excuses in the latter case but none in the former. If Bennet wants my advice - and he still hasn’t been in touch - it’s quite simple. Forget performance in Europe. Recruit a team to beat celtic. It shouldn’t be that hard. Defenders who can defend will do for a start. Then a couple of athletic guys up front who can put their weight about, a poacher to play alongside them and a couple of footballers. Getting the last two will be the hard part. It won’t be pretty but it will solve the immediate problem of winning the league and from that small beginning ….
  3. That’s a helluva lot of roots. The root cause is Murray spending beyond the club’s means for which he needed the ill fated EBT scheme. The spivs only exacerbated the damage. Everyone else has been fighting fires and under that pressure a lot of wrong decisions have been made.
  4. Where’s a new board coming from?
  5. Yep. Completely different in style. Reardon the last of the old school, Higgins the innovator.
  6. Attendance of over 56,500. Imagine what it might have been if Rangers supporters had bothered to go. There would have been a fair number of United supporters and Man Yoo fans. (There is a difference)
  7. Here’s two. Ray Reardon, died today and Alex Hurricane Higgins.
  8. Yep, agree, but at least City can suddenly blizzard the penalty box with serial attacks left right and centre.
  9. Yes but inly one in the penalty area, the other two out wide crossing the ball in to eight defenders plus the ‘keeper.
  10. SU, WBA and PNE were once mighty in their land but two classes below Rangers. Now, if Daily Mail is believable, they’re competition for a player who’s left Stoke.
  11. Twenty three miles it’s covered today, I believe. Arrives tonight by the light of the silvery moon.
  12. He’s number 22. Google Scotsman Pattullo top fifty and you’ll get the full list. Be surprised.
  13. Yamal is a young player with potential. Sack him, pick Saka. Williams is hard to criticise but I’ll do it. Disappeared for long periods and not much variation in his play. Prefer the Portuguese sub Conceição. Walker - never. Cancelo’s the man. Bellingham instead of Ruiz Player of the tournament? Cucurella. Had a hard time against Saka - who doest’t? - but Saka never rarely got right away from him. Not the most convincing tackler but usually managed to disrupt his opponent’s game and he was always there when his defence needed a get-out pass or his forwards needed backup. Never stopped. Don’t know why the Germans kept booing him. He gave them the penalty. It was the ref who took it away.
  14. Correct. The English players seem to be a decent bunch and I’ve no quarrel with any fan who goes to the match on a Saturday but tourism fans, many scribes and pundits (just like our own) are a waste of time. The centre forward lashes the ball first-time over the bar: “should have taken s touch and stroked it in” The centre forward tackled trying to control the ball: “should just have put his foot through it” That’s why I never listen to pre or post match discussion.
  15. I should have said their performance in the first half of this match was average. Throughout the tournament they have been the best. Much better in the second half and probably deserved it. You could say England were desperately unlucky in the last minute. What a clearance by Olmu. What was he doing back on the line?
  16. Well, they found their men with three passes and scored. Still plenty time.
  17. HT 0-0. Spain are average. If Rangers played like that we would be losing patience. England should win this easily second half if the Spaniards don’t waken up and start finding a man with a pass.
  18. Neither. Supporter. Well done.
  19. The former Chief Exec ran away before the problem emerged into light of day. The Copland Road Stand is being upgraded to provide facilities for disabled supporters. There’s a photo a few pages back.
  20. No. I think England will win especially if Kane is dropped. Spain have had tougher opposition, they’ll be knackered and though they are a good side, they’re not that good in the way that old-time Brazil were good or more recently France or Spain themselves. Foden, Saka and Tonev or Watkins should get through the Spanish defence while Morata looks a bit off, Pedri is out and the new wonder winger is nowhere near as good as Jimmy Johnstone was.
  21. Decent game, correct result. England were really good in the first half and came very close to scoring about three times twice by Foden and once by Kane. I fear, though, that Kane is England’s Ronaldo. The Dutch came into the match in the second half but no great shakes. Well behind Portugal and Germany and not as good as Austria or France.
  22. Probably left behind with a hammer and nails to get the Copland sorted.
