The best jump jockeys will just sit tight and let the horse do the navigation. If the horse is a good workman he knows the best line.

The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

We’re off. Thanks dB. bbc will pronounce Jefté as shifty. A real live Brazilian, not some AI voice, has confirmed the pronunciation as ‘Sheffte’ each ‘e’ as in ‘get’ ‘met’ or ‘set’ with a little bit of emphasis on the second one. She couldn’t tell me if he’s a good player. Just that he been bought by a Scottish team. I could have told her that. -
Saw a bit of the second half. Some very good sequences of play by Rangers. I think it was when they played by instinct and not by the chessboard. Hampden is a hopeless venue for any match not involving the national side or Rangers or the only other club that can bring numbers of followers. Dunfermline or Motherwell would be better grounds. Goalkeeping is a weak position for ladies. The don’t have the leap nor the strength of arm, wrist or hand.

Refs in the spl are biased but I think it’s unconscious bias. Refereeing a running sport requires instant decision most of the time. The celtic minded can’t help themselves. They might not make the same decisions with time to think. Beaton is different. He can help himself. He has tuned his brain the other way so that he can never be accused of bias in favour of Rangers. I also reckon that Scottish referees are average at their work. At high level they should be above average. As Uilleam has pointed out, none has been invited to the Euro circus. Supporters are biased too.I know I am. I follow a team in a lower league. Fellow followers were constantly moaning about one particular referee being both useless and biased in favour of another club. A visit to that club’s message board discovered exactly the same complaint about the same referee. A dud biased in favour of my team. These assessments were untrammelled by politics, religion or geography so the reality in that particular league is not bias but incompetence.

That’s Dessers off the For Sale shelf.

I’m sure he will. Rangers mean so much to these people.

Fifers or Hielan’men? Hard choice. Eightsome reeling in the streets of County tonight.

Danilo has only had two injuries. He needs one more to qualify IP. -
John Edrich. He only had to face Andy Roberts. A lesser man than Close would have tried as hard as possible to get the bat on it in the hope he would be caught and spared further ordeal.
-
Jings. No bonnet, no armguards. Not even a sweater.

Boycott. Close didn’t play in that match. Trueman’s action is superb. Only Lillee matches it. My action (slow left arm) was near perfect. The trouble started when I released the ball. The little red beggar went everywhere, mostly the boundary. Truman uproots the batsman’s off stump, first ball and turns away. The batsman walks off. The fielders stroll about looking pleased. No cocoa school histrionics. Even the 300th wicket provokes only mild celebrations. First to shake Trueman’s hand is the batsman, Neil Hawke. Those were the days.

We’ve already had Fred Trueman but here he is at work.

Lammers is maybe just happier at home. Don’t take the risk. Sell him now when he’s sellable.

Just as well. Any stronger and it was in the net.

Raskin - squad at best. Cantwell - sell at any price. Hagi- one more go. Otherwise no argument. -
Thanks. Said that since day 1.

Gvardiol cost £75M at the start of the season. I’m relieved to say that when I played left back to a pathetically low standard, I never headed the ball over my own ‘keeper towards an open goal with an opponent running onto it.

I’m just going out to cut the grass. I may be some time.

I remember newsreel footage of the FA Cup semi at Hillsborough. Len Shackleton for Sunderland wrecked the Blues’ outfield defence but Merrick kept them out. Unfortunately for Brum he couldn’t do the same to Bobby Johnstone in the Final.
-
Pat Stanton must be contender for Hibs’ best ever. He was so good I overlook the blip at the end of his career.
-
-
Smith - apart from Henderson best right winger I ever saw. Matured into a style of play ahead of his time in the same way as Cooper. Johnstone - only saw him second time round at Hibs. Mesmerist. Regret I never saw the Five together. Reilly - was there a better scorer of goals? McCoist. Turnbull - dynamo. Ormond - auld widden legs. But he outlasted the rest.

Ach just get the ball up the park.

A variation on the old John Greig theme.

They’ll Hibz it again. Unkind hibbees will say Belgium will Gers it.
