  1. So it should at this time of year. Hope Hampden’s in decent shape. I wonder who prepares the pitch - Rangers, QP or SFA.
  2. Motherwell started the slide at the end of last season. Let’s hope their demolition tomorrow sees Rangers off on a title winning surge of unbeaten performances.
  3. If he scored the easy ones but didn’t manage to somehow fashion goals from nowhere he’d be a favourite. It’s the disappointment that clouds the judgement. Twenty non penalty goals can’t be scoffed at.
  4. Why do you think that? I thought it might be the making of him. He’s got plenty of talent but doesn’t seem to want to work with it.
  5. I never expect Dessers to score an easy chance. He prefers to stumble the ball into the net off a post and through a cloud of feet.
  6. Good rule. I try, I really do. Fail too often.
  7. But how many did he lay on for others?
  8. Munro was a better defender than any of the current team except Balogun. Balogun unfortunately struggles to play two games in a week. Munro would have played the next day if asked. Unfortunately Rangers couldn’t afford Davie Robertson now. We can’t help moaning, though. ‘Twas ever thus. I wish we could confine it to conversation and cheer the team that’s on the park.
  9. It is. You’re just out of the mental stage and you’ll be ok now until past sixty and then it all starts to come back. I’m worse now than I was when I was eight.
  10. Stone cold sober but the upshot was the Corporation ‘bus stop sign for the Usher Hall going off to Bogota in some dame’s luggage.
  11. Robertson was a much better player than the other defenders you mention except Stevens. Munro was s good honest tradesman. Souness rated him for that quality. I wish he were playing now. Papac similar, a bit classier. Stevens was outstanding. Ricksen was generally poor at defending. Wright is closer to McCann than to the others in the same way as the Earth is closer to the Sun than is the planet Neptune. I agree entirely about McCausland and your general premise about realism is correct.
  12. The seller is willing. Buyers can’t be found. Those who can afford the goods can pay for much better. Those who might be willing to take them can’t afford them. The goods themselves are a bit picky about where they go.
  13. It’s not. The peculiar fetish for nazi regalia started decades ago, long before Ukraine entered the news programmes. The majority of users have little notion of the significance other than to think it’s pretty cool. A Prince of the realm dolled himself up in it. Luckily you’ve got him now.
  14. No relevance. This is not Ukraine.
  15. Undeniable though I’m a billiards man by preference. The point is the you wouldn’t pck a snooker player for central defence.
  16. Correct.
  17. Except City’s midfielders and wingers can score goals so it doesn’t matter so much.
  18. Joint top undefeated after an away game against last season’s third best team. Good result with the players available. Just very disappointing that these are indeed the players available with Cortes down already and only the prospect of Pröpper to give hope.
  19. Souttar the sole defender in front of a shaky ‘keeper. The forwards will have to score six.
  20. I always reckoned Murrayfield was west Edinburgh. My late lamented brother-in-law got a big promotion from Glasgow to Head Office in Edinburgh. My sister would only contemplate buying in Corstorphine being convenient for the ‘bus to Glasgow. They settled for Linlithgow in the end.
  21. NC Edinburgh? In my day it was mostly lawyers who lived there. Dangerous blighters right enough.
