Tav was rubbish today.
What, again?
But where else will we get a twenty goal a season full back? Personally, I’d settle for a defender.

Any idea if Jordan has accepted? How keen is he to come, I wonder.

Is it not the pattern with Butland that he loses form/confidence for spells? You can carry an outfielder through a short bad spell but not a ‘keeper.

I thought it was quite good - defense aside.
Half the team.

more of a forward that's tidy on the ball and can beat a man, rather than a pure creator; a second-striker.
An inside forward.

Diomande, Raskin, Barron, Dowell, Rice and Mckinnon
Diomande - could be ok, jury out.
Raskin - I thought he’d be a good signing. I may be wrong. Injuries prevent him from getting a settled run of games.
Barron - still novice.
Dowell - oh dear.
Rice - promising eighteen months ago. No progress. Lowry Mk 2.
McKinnon - is he promising yet?
So really Diomande, Raskin and Barron.

I was optimistic at the end of last season, God knows why in retrospect but pessimistic now. I think the manager is more than competent and able to win competitions if only he had a team of decent tradesmen.

Sorry for your troubles, lad but keep working at it. Time’s on your side.

Not suitable attire for an athletic contest.
Be thankful, I suppose there are no pinks or greens in it.

Start Turnbull, bench Reilly and drop the mesmerist Johnstone.
What about Conn, Bauld and Wardhaugh?

Cantwell has some degree of footballing talent but isn’t able to deploy it consistently or for that matter, effectively.
Not at all sorry to see him go. (Nothing to do with his daft beard and stupid haircut, honest)

YNWA is hardly a folk song:
Did you miss my apostrophe, old bean?
Come to think of it, it’s hardly even a song. More like somebody greetin’ about something. Well suited to the choristers, be they red or green.

Agree with his fiery play he would probably get sent off.
Correct. Greig and McKay were much more discreet.

At the end of the road!
Pinching other folks’ songs? Leave that to the spalpeens.
I could let you have a Blaydon Races rewrite, though.
Pointless because nobody sings properly nowadays. Bothe of these venerable anthems and English fans’ bowdlerised versions of the Billy Boys are yapped at ridiculous speeds.

John Greig, Dave McKay, Billy Bremner. Who’s first pick, who’s on the bench and who gets sent home.
Probably only @compocan answer this one. Maybe young @alexscottislegend.

Start with Jimmy Greaves Cliff Jones and Bobby Smith Cliff will leave your defenders dizzy Bobby will soften up any defence and Greaves will put the icing on the cake.
Unarguable.
I think the rules of this daft game are that of the three nominees you pick one player to start, one as a substitute and the third doesn’t make the squad. For your trio, start Smith, haveJones on the bench and drop Greaves. Nonsense isn’t it? Perfectly easy to accommodate all three as ‘Spurs did, because they were all different in style.

Start Charlton, bench Best and transfer Law to the Rangers.

So we’re off to Lublin in the blue, in the blue.

It has to be a thread.
Keeping players in the same era is key to answers.

I’m not sure if Neil Martin was still playing in the 70s but he’d definitely be in my squad .
By the seventies he was in English League Division 2, Coventry, Brighton so his career was ending at the start of the fifty year period but mid to late sixties he was an absolutely cracking player with the Hibs, then Sunderland.

Cantwell is no sad loss.

If there are advanced talks for a takeover, why appoint selling agents?

Robertson Forest is a weird one for me - I had never ever heard of him until a few years ago.
Very good left winger. Laid in the winner in one European Cup Final and scored the winner in the next one.
