  1. Alfie Conn was boo-ed by some. Not me.
  2. I never thought "Tim" meant Catholic. I always knew the Tim Molloy origin and that celtic supporters at the time styled themselves as Timalloys even though not actually members of the hoodlum gang. It just so happens that most celtic fans are nominally RC but I would never call an RC with no allegiance to celtic. For example Archbishop Conti was never a Tim. The Cardinal guy whose name I've forgotten most certainly was.
  3. The "any name you like but nothing daft like Wonga" Arena at Ibrox would be acceptable if the bucks were sufficiently mega.
  4. Most City fans reckon we got off lightly but the mood is for lynching the Board. I wouldn't have worried too much about being trampled. I've been there in a 13,000 crowd for a Scottish Cup Tie against Arbroath. My auld faither was there in a 12,000 crowd for a cup final against Inverness Caley. Mind you, we can't get 80,000 into Ibrox any more.
  5. I was going to say "good riddance" but in reality, who cares? Nothing to do with Rangers.
  6. "The boy stood on the burning deck Whence all but he had fled."
  7. If I said I knew next to nothing about tax law i would be over-rating myself. But is an assessment not a debt due but suspended pending the outcome of an appeal? If D&P had put the Revenue down for £1 provisional they would have given a false figure as a potential surplus for creditors.
  8. BBC Scotland fervently hope so. We should all urge our MPs to take a stand against HMRC wasting more money.
  9. Rangers' current owners opted out of this farrago. Might have been better to have entered on a sneering, watching only basis so that fortified by yesterday's decision they could be jumping up and down and demanding an immediate hearing. Just because the celtic lawyer's not there is no reason to postpone. If you get done for careless driving and the PF's got the 'flu they don't put the case off for months. They wheel in another guy. Or are H-McL just a wee bochel firm that can't put up anyone else?
  10. Hullaw! Hullaw! We are Jim Traynor's boys!
  11. I've had a look, Max. Hard to tell who's there. There's hunners o' them.
  12. 4 - 1 for us after extra time but HMRC will want a replay on the ground that two of the match officials hadnae a clue. If only the buffoon Whyte had paid the PAYE. Lots of pontificators up and down the country are going to look even more stupid now. Pacific Quay CSC suicidal? It'll no be Quackie Bird or the wee McLoughlin guy the night.
  13. "Rangers will be in SFL2 next season, of that I am sure." Hope you're right.
  14. Bobby Brown: Flashy. George Niven: Dependable Billy Ritchie: Rock solid. Didn't have the full reportoire that the Goalie had but I rate BR just ahead of Woods, Klos and McGregor. These three (except Niven for a few games) were lucky to have a proper defence in front of them as did Woods. Klos and McGregor didn't always have that luxury.
  15. " Big Rheinhart was at pains to emphasise Hearts principled stand on the payment offer and congratulated them on letting it be known that it was the club making the offer that led to refusal." Hearts said that and RG congratulated them? That's it, then. Doon wi' the Hertz an' doon wi' Gordon.
  16. Jair was Brazilian. Suarez ("the Architect") was a Spaniard. Neither played in the '67 event.
  17. Ah wuz therr! Thought Hynd might be the new George Young. I was deluded. Shouldnae hae left oot Ralphie an' Davie. See Rangers fans. See moaners
  18. McKenzie is not a party to the case. He acts for one of the parties. Somebody from the cab rank should be able to take it up. Ironic but sad that the deceased held the King's Commission in the Mackenzie Highlanders, the Gallant Seaforth.
  19. "BDO set to pursue SPL & SFA for missing funds" Not quite yet. They're going to do rigorous exploring first. Then they have to weigh up the expense of further action and the prospect of recovery if successful.
  20. Bits of the late sixties and some of the seventies weren't too golden.
  21. Dougie Gray, Tommy Muirhead, Bert Manderson and Willie McCandles (in the words of the song "two Irish backs you can't get past") Jimmy Smith, Alex Venters, Torry Gillick, Sandy Archbald, Andy Cunningham - none of us saw them play but the names are revered. You've set yourself an impossible task, Max. Number one has to be R. C. Hamilton. Top scorer with Elgin City and Rangers. Divinity.
  22. "3 all SPL matches ..." 'Gers v City still the tie of the round.
  23. Willie Thornton. Jings, crivvens! Make it 128.
  24. Johnnie Penalty King Hubbard. Scored plenty from open play too.
