  1. Billy didn't play in that famous line-up. It was the Prime Minister at inside right
  2. KM does a decent job and while I did suggest he could do the old inside forward game he is sure thing not a patch on Ralphie.
  3. Kenny will run 'til the day is done. Give him a go as an old fashioned fetch and carry inside forward.
  4. I will be very pleased if City win the league again but I don't share the current euphoria over the plight of United enjoyable though it is for the moment. Souness didn't start too well if I remember rightly.
  5. And only two from the top drawer of English football with two more from the middle level with the rest from the Championship.

ASC? Hmmmm, let me think about this. A = Aberdeen, obviously. S = Soccer, probably. C = not clowns, not clots - anybody help me out here?
  7. You cannot be serious. Barry? Hughes? Houston? I could go on. Doesn't mean Ally's any good, though.
  8. They'll have the draft ready. No judge with the threat of apeal hovering makes his decision public before taking that precaution.
  9. DZIEKANOWSKI - Ian's post above. A name from the past. Remember the glorious cup-tie at Hampden when celtic fielded three Poles. Dziekanowski, Aitken-offski and Miller-on-and-offski.
  10. They will refuse the appeal but they've got to make the grounds for refusal watertight to survive the scrutiny of the CAS and that's why they're taking time to cook up something good.
  11. £4M? That all? The £pivs cutting back on their drawings, are they?
  12. No but we should do. Even more so if we had been blathering on about sporting integrity in other circumstances that suited us.
  13. I've been looking for a parapet to stick my head over and I think I've found it. WGS for manager. don't worry it won't happen but if it did I wouldn't be burning my scsrf.
  14. I don't buy newspapers, so can anyone tell me which published moralistic articles by Speirs and English along the lines of rules are rules and celtic are not obliged to do anything but an honourable club would stand aside and let Legia go through. They must have done that, haven't they? As others have said, imagine the outraged screaming at Clyde and BBC if Rangers had got through like this.
  15. Sporting integrity would compel celtic to decline the opportunity to continue, surely.
  16. I like the ten minute half time - that's what it used to be - but not the rest of it Tsb.
  17. The Murrayfield Massacre did not materialise as the plucky hoops held a languid Legia to a 0 - 2 defeat at the home of Scottish rugby. The hundreds of travelling bhoys' fans joined by several locals made it a party atmosphere as the visitors' hopes of a repeat of last week's four-goal fluke were thwarted by the doughty celts' defence. The All Ireland champions now enter the prestigious UEFA Thursday Cup while the Warsaw wannabees are left with The prospect of Champions League crumbs.
  18. Only the gk,five defenders and five attackers in the penalty area until the corner is taken. Unworkable really as footballers can't count and probably unenforceable. "Corners" to be taken from the bye-line where the ref adjudges the ball to have gone out of play but never nearer to the goal post than the junction of the six yard line with the bye-line the team taking the "corner" to have the option of a throw. Penalty to be awarded in the event of a player in green and white hoops attempting to kick the ball. Red card for shirt pulling in penalty area, attacker or defender, yellow card elsewhere on the field. "Shepherding" the ball out of play by blocking an opposing player to be punished by direct free kick, penalty if in the box.
  19. The banner wagger must be a mate of Lennon's. If you blow up the picture you'll see the bhoy himself just across the aisle. (This is a light-hearted post not intended to support or oppose or hold up to scorn or ridicule any political or religious faction or group or any individual or associates or friends of such individual)
  20. So much for the Hertz. Let's hope the Hubz are no use.
  21. The days of 60,000 for Hubz v Hertz at Easter Road with the gates shut at noon for 2 pm kick-off are long gone but Edinburgh should be able to support two teams with a 20,000 weekly attendance. What prevents it? The answer isRangers and Celtic - partly because Edinburgh fans are drawn away (more to Ibrox than to Parkhead) but more because of the perception that only Rangers or Celtic can win anything and also a perception encouraged by the Press that all mid table games are meaningless. Every match is a contest. Should you not turn out to see if your team can win it? A change in attitude is needed. The English don't seem to have this problem. Most of them go and watch their team. West Brom have attendances that only one Spfl club can match. Amalgamation of the Dundee clubs is sensible on paper. But would it work? ICT are not a well supported team due in large part to amalgamation with the result that a village team nearby, Ross County, have proportionally bigger attendances. I don't know the solution but I fear that Scottish football is soon going to be the same as League of Ireland or the Welsh League.
