No accident. The start of it all was a concerted campaign by some adherents of celtic in the mid to late years of niar. Every post match 'phone-in had somebody, reasonably articulate, not the usual Brendan, who would even offer some praise for the football played by Rangers but always a more-in-sorrow-than-in-anger reference to the awful songs "coming from the other end". Drip, drip drip. It worked.

Then within minutes news of 'Well's second. Can't tell you much about the rest of the day.

I expect the likes of Pulis could have had Hull safe in upper mid table. I think Bruce is living on his playing days reputation just loke another manager we know of. I expect both Hull and Newcastle to win on Saturday so good bye, Tigers. Famous names languishing in the basement - Magpies, Villa and Sunderland.

Never mind the team, the manager, the Stadium, the finance, the corporate structures etc., when is King going to make Ibrox a drum free zone?

I don't see Steve Bruce as a top ten manager but they could bring off a freak win over United. Much good it will do them because I don't see the Hammers hammering the Magpies.

In an ideal world he would have taken a bigger role but that shouldn't be held against him now that he is taking charge and there seems to be some pretty able people around him. How to get to Ibrox? In a celtic supporter's car - but just the once. Travelling from Edinburgh for a game against the Hearts I arranged a lift on a club bus but the dastards drove past the pickup without stopping. To St Andrews 'bus station arriving just as the last Eastern Scottish special left; to Waverley for Queen Street then a sprint to Central to see the last train leaving the platform; outside to get a taxi with three others by this time. A bloke came out of the station having seen off a wedding party. "A lift to Ibrox?" says he, "come on, I'm off to Paisley to see the Celtic". In we got and off we went and he wouldn't take a penny for a dram. Not all of them are Apaches.
