Willie Collum selected to referee first Old Firm game of the season

Douglas Ross will be hoping Rangers lose on Saturday. That's Berwick Rangers btw. -
Very good 'keeper. He could fly about the goal if he had to but mostly he judged the flight of the ball and caught it just like Billy Ritchie.

Scored plenty. Missed a few. Thanks for the goals, Maxie.

Giggs is only slightly Welsh. All his football development was in Manchester. But the point is valid. Every top English side had at least two Scottish internationalists. The best had even more. In the old days the selectors plcked the eleven for the game and a reserve eleven. The reserves were mostly just as good as the first picks and there were stil plenty of good players left out. Now we're hard put to get a team plus subs, scouring the Register of Births to find Scottish grannies of Englishmen who can't make their own top forty. I don't know the answer to the problem. Abolish Rugby?

Good statement. Who does their PR? -
I'm not in favour of strict liability. Hibs, the club, could not have prevented the exhuberance of their followers so why should they be liable? Hibs, the club, went wrong by failing to acknowledge that the whole affair was caused by their followers and failing to condemn them for their conduct and thereby Hibs, the club, brought the game into disrepute. Simples.

I though that you could only grass on your mates. Total strangers are fair game. But what's this? You go abroad to support your national football team and what do you take with you? Some petty tribal totem. I usd to cheer happily for Crerand, McNeil, Johnstone, Lennox and even Jim Kennedy who would have been third favourite in a footrace with the goalpost and the corner flag. Boo them off the park the next week, though.

Scotland now has no players remotely as good a these three. Bale might be as good as Allchurch but not as good as Charles.

Did he turn out for the reserves the day after? Game a day for Honest John. No bother.

A Motherwell bloke tried a homicide tackle but Barton saw it coming and jumped.

Were they at the game? Were they even in Manchester? Would it have mattered? Should have read that tag more carefully.

Genuine question. Does the Compliance Officer have now or did he have in the past any affiliation formal or informal to a club in the SFA membership?

The thing is, we've seen them in massacre groups before but the humiliations have never quite materialised. This time, surely.
-
I bet they'll get in with Leicester, Poto and Brugge.

Time to forget the SC semi. Sure we "played them off the park" but scored only twice and so did they. Anything can happen at penalties and sure enough they had a flukey miss. So, on to the final and we all know what happened then. So far this season they are scoring more than the opposition. Good plan, that. Their defence is no better than ours but they take their chances better than we do. A draw would be a very good result.

Lescott's off the page. Senderos still hovering. What other available, affordable, competent centre halves are there? So long as he can tackle like the clap of doom and head the ball from penalty area to centre circle, I'm not bothered if his passing is less than incisive.

Not mch talent in that squad but apart from Wallace, who else s there?

Burnley 2 - 0 Liverpool City romping away at the top. Well, on goal difference.
