  1. I've just had a horrible thought. Poyet's available.

"Who's actually done well as a manager there?" - (Oleg)

Peter Reid did not too badly. Steve Bruce was Steve Bruce ie mediocre. Surprised O'Neil didn't do better. And who but Sunderland would hire di Canio, see the light, bin him (so far, so good) then take on Poyet? Calamity followed by disaster.

I thought the Stadium name was daft until I found out it wasn't a straight copy of Benfica but a reference to a Durham miner's lamp.

  2. AS, JMcK and rpb have presented coherent arguements from opposite sides and I can be persuaded by either.

But itcomes downto this: CG is entitled to his point of view; he is entitled to express his point of view; he is entitled to express it in the way that he did but having elected to do so in that way his suitability for office in a great institution is brought into question. Specifically, I don't think a Director of a company with a high public profile should conduct himself as CG did.

A suitable apology, ie an explanation rather than an expression of sorrow, will suffice and an undertaking not to repeat.

The question for the BBC hack is not what he knew but when did he know it? The timing reeks of suspicion.

  3. What we must understand of course is that the Premier League is the only thing that matters. Any tournament that Chelsea get beaten in is of no importance.

I believe SBS to be indisposed this morning so I've taken it upon myself to post this on his behalf.

  4. Ross County are a village team. As such they have done very well but they remain a village team.

Bad luck that they get into SPL when Rangers got turfed out but they could have voted to keep us in so devil take them.

And they've got previous for running with the jackals against a lion.

Actually, it wasn't bad luck for the club but it was very bad luck for the large number of Rangers supporters who inhabit Ross-shire.
