  1. If they had done, we would all have been screaming to lay off, it's none of their business etc. etc. After the fact we were all screaming that they stood by and did nothing. Now with one or two notable exceptions we are screaming at them to rubber-stamp DK's appointment. My message to the SFA? Get on with it. DK tried to skip round some tax burden in RSA. We all know it. Rangers shareholders are content (most of them). The Court of Session is content. Let the guy get on the park.
  2. What's this? The US Masters. Augusta. Florida And the talk of the press tent is whether some low rank journo from a no rank newspaper can get an interview with the owner of a sub rank European soccer club? I expect Nicklaus and Tiger and the rest think of little else.
  3. 's naw. 's Hubz v Hertz an' ' 2 - 0.
  4. It's a culture thing, dB. Wigan is a rugby league town. The football, club was non-league until a few years ago. Good place for them in my humble opinion.
  5. The question is, does he have rights to specific designs and get-up, i.e. those existing at the date of the assignation or does he have right to whatever designs are to be the official badges in the future?
  6. I'd give him a shot at old fashioned inside left and if he can't manage that dispense with his services. He's got talent but he's careless and his fuse is very short.

    Jig

It's a damn fine piece of writing though, in my opinion, McCulloch's past merits are over-stated and his current standard of play is glossed over, which emphasises what a good job Rousseau has done as Jig's apologist/advocate. I look forward to the next one.
  8. Amo was a bighead, no doubt, but he was a pretty decent captain of Rangers. Nothing adverse off the park like boozing or fireworks, was there?
  9. Law, Wallace Miller for the opener but it could have been Baxter, Wilson, Brand. The second had a look of Ralphie about it too.
  10. Brown (Dundee/Spurs) Hamilton (Dundee) Caldow McKay (Hearts/Spurs) Ure (Dundee/Arsenal) Baxter Henderson White (Falkirk/Spurs) St John (Motherwell/L/pool) Law (Manchester Utd) Wilson When will we see their like again?
  11. I say, you fellows. Not cricket. Aberdeen did something similar once with WGS and either Peter Weir or McGhie.
  12. They did indeed but L'pool could have been two up early on. Great stuff to watch. Arsenal and Rangers used to be great buddies in the old days.
  13. dB - I respect your knowledge, experience and commitment to Rangers but for once you are utterly wrong. I know a bit about Peterhead, a worthy small town club just like my own first team (a bit better, if I'm honest) but any side purporting to be the Rangers should have slaughtered them yesterday, today or tomorrow. That first day performance set the standard for the following seasons. The way the Jambolians have been about their business is the way Rangers should have done it. Competence with an occasional bit of style is what I expected. The football management failed completely.
  14. Looks like him. The tackler is Willie Telfer. Imagine the forward's relief at getting past Willie then his despair at finding Bobby Shearer waiting for him.
  15. On reflection I see Colin Stein as a cutlass or a sabre rather than a knife.
  16. I don't think Stein/Millar is a true comparison. They were different types of cf. Either would do fine for me.
  17. On the thread about Vuckic Bearman posted this: "Mykhaylychenko was a fine addition to the squad at the time but no way can I compare him to Vuckvic? Comparisons: McCall - MacDonald. MacDonald. Stein - Millar. Millar. Cooper - Wilson. Cooper. Greig - McCulloch. Greig. Gascoigne - Baxter. Baxter. Ritchie - Goram. Goram. 'Bud' Johnston - no comparison Greig - Gough, Greig. McCoist, same as Bud. Albertz - McMillan, Albertz. Laudrup - Wilson, Laudrup. Shearer - Johansen, Johansen. Shaw - no comparison Anyone else prepared to make comparisons be my guest." My reply: "Very interesting comparisons. Shaw/Shearer shurely? Cooper/McLean maybe. Bud/Davy and Davy's the man. McCoist/Forrest?" Barca 72's comment: "I agree that Davy was a great wee player, plenty of guts and guile. Wee Bud on the other hand was the best we've ever had at hanging a cross ball, and more foreby." Any other thoughts?
  18. Very interesting comparisons. Shaw/Shearer shurely? Cooper/McLean maybe. Bud/Davy and Davy's the man. McCoist/Forrest? This really needs a new thread.
  19. It's in the Judge's discretion. A half decent beak would say ok, here's your order but you can whistle for your costs. The best advice for MD is to say I'll withdraw my request and you withdraw your Court application and cheerio.
  20. Costs are incidental to the order sought. MD would only be liable in the event of him unsuccessfully opposing the application.
  21. I don't like to contradict someone who wore the colours with distinction but the answer to the perennial question is on Mr Struth's blazer badge. Blow it up and the word is there.
  22. An old guy told me many years ago that older guys than him had a song with the words "two Irish backs you can' t get past". He couldn't remember anything else or the tune.
  23. Think of all the tims busy writing in their objections. Assuming the learned Judge ignores them and grants the Petition, it would be hard for the SFA to refuse King's application to them.
