  1. All of this is very interesting but we’re wandering off topic namely the corrupt gallusness of Pacific Quay Shamrock.
  2. The accent qualification sounds good. On that basis Joe Baker could have played for Scotland but, eventually, Denis Law would have been dropped.
  3. Pathetic, but that’s the caley for you.
  4. I’d forgotten him but I remember him now. He was a farmer in Derbyshire, was he not? Who’s this Walsh guy?
  5. Ah, Methil. The only place where I’ve seen a black beach. And Father Quinn. Did he play for EF? My last memory of him was at Hibs. Very good player in a terrific forward line at Motherwell.
  6. Better than Cammy Bell but much less competent than Woods or Klos and without the match-saving genius of the goalie or even, to a lesser extent, McGregor. Alexander was a better ‘keeper.
  7. Not gutted. Unlike Neil Lennon.
  8. True but you go to see the game, not the grass. Looked like a good surface. Just lose the fancy bits.
  9. If you go about on the streets with a mask you’ve obviously got some very important statement to make and people should pay attention to you especially if you’ve got a spanking new pair of white trainers like the young chap front middle of the picture.
  10. That striped pitch is bloody annoying.
  11. Murty suffers from the handicap of having no on-field driver. No Shearer, Greig, Brown or Ian Ferguson. Doesn’t have to be the captain. More like a foreman who gets other guys to roll up their sleeves and fight ‘til the day is done.
  12. Gordon Brown the Scottish lock forward did weeks of recuperative training at Ibrox. One day he took in a rugby ball. Greig proceeded to hammer “conversions” between the sticks, over the bar and miles up into the terracing. Brown was well impressed. Maybe this is what DJ was referring to.
  13. Was he not one of the heroes of the shamrock in that noble non-defeat at the hands of the Gallic billionaires? Neymar was scared stiff if I remember correctly.
  14. Tory giving Rangers an advantage. Irresistible to the jocko press.
  15. Mr Ian Blackford, SNP Leader in the House of Commons replying to the Chancellor’s Spring Statement yesterday: ”At the weekend, we saw the hon. Member for Moray (Douglas Ross) at the Glasgow Celtic versus Rangers football match, in his other job as a linesman, waving his flag and enthusiastically calling for a red card. If anybody deserves a red card today, it is the Chancellor of the Exchequer.” - Hansard. I suppose this is more anti-Ross than anti-Rangers but the link to the debate is tenuous and probably meaningless to most of the Members. If the Asst. Ref had been Liberal-Democrat and the red card had gone the other way he would never have said it. Blistering topical wit from the Member for Ross, Skye and Lochaber.
  16. The irony is that in his previous job Ross would have been up to his knees in filth and grime hours before the pasty-faced record scribblers had got out of their beds of a morning.
  17. I was with you ‘til near the end but how much are they there for the football and how much for the look-at-us special clothing and anti-celtic signalling? As is often said about the assumed followers of another club do they hate the other side more than they love their own?
  18. Couple of hardy tradesmen in that team, Willie Rae and Johnny Little plus the rollicking Sammy Baird. The legendary Geordie Young , the young Caldow on his way to world-class and the best right half I ever saw, Ian McColl. A solid ‘keeper, two dazzling wingers and Billy Simpson and Maxie to rattle them in. A very god side.
  19. Or the new chap on the list from Vietnam, Mr Fee Nyun.
  20. A bunnet’s nothing. I had a quarter bottle in my hand. What happens when you throw your hands in the air? God knows where it came to earth. Only nine years before Falkirk won the cup with Derek Grierson in the team beating Killie in the final. I was pleased because I didn’t like the Killie ‘keeper, Jimmy Brown, though I should have been grateful because they had evicted celtic in the semi.
  21. “If Wenger was coaching a duck, it would drown.” - a talker on Talk Sport.
  22. If the ‘keeper had been 50/50 for the ball and Moreles had clattered him he’d have been greetin’ for a free kick. I don’t subscribe to this “got a bit of the ball” nonsense. If it’s accomplished by breenging into the tackle like an elephant run amok it’s a foul.
  23. I can see the headline: “Bren/Brown SNUB Gunners to stay at Hoops. Ancelotti next in Frame?”
  24. “There is now no evidence of a crime” Lost in the snow is it? Have they checked the shelf behind the swear box. Maybe left it on the bus back from St Petersburg. Rubbish statement. They should have said: “Because of the outcomes of other related cases, the evidence remaining is not sufficient to procure a conviction and it is therefore not in the public interest to proceed.” I expect Green is even now on the ‘phone to his lawyers.
  25. A bit of perspective here. This is the guy who scored for Rangers in the Upper Tier Tribunal before the appeal judges spoiled it all. What’s more, he declared his celtic shareholding and the BDO lawyers declined to object to him hearing the case. He is the Commercial Judge so, surprise, surprise, he hears Commmercial cases no matter who the parties are. In these circumstances, members of the jury, I invite you to find his Lordship not guilty of whatever it is you think he might be guilty of. Having said that, his photo reminds me of Charlie Nicholas and a couple of other wee forwards who played for the tims but whose names I haven’t bothered to remember.
