  1. Chelsea v City was an excellent match. Reasonable outcome was a City victory but paradoxically Chelsea deserved the win. Pity because a defeat would have made the last few games more exciting with 'Spurs in good form.
  2. Maybe it's just the late stage of the season with minor injuries accumulating. The last day "decider" match against Aberdeen saw a team full of the walking wounded.
  3. Unabashed by almost total failure, here goes: Tues: Burnley 1-0 Stoke Leicester 2-0 Sunderland Watford 0-1 West Brom Man Utd 2-0 Everton Wed: Arsenal 2-2 West Ham Hull 1-0 Middlesboro Southampton 2-2 Crystal Palace Swansea 0-1 Tottenham Chelsea 2-2 Man City Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth
  4. No brainer. Aberdeen must lose. Another club will incidentally derive a benefit from a sheep defeat but that benefit is coming anyway so it will be a bit of an anti-climax for them.
  5. Liverpool 1- 2Everton Burnley 0-2 Tottenham Chelsea 3-0 Crystal Palace Hull 0-2 West Ham Leicester 2-2 Stoke Man Utd 2-0 West Brom Watford 3-0 Sunderland Southampton 2-1 Bournemouth Swansea 2-0 Middlesboro Arsenal 2-1 Man City
  6. dB. #78: "The "tradition" of cattle raiding went on well down into the 16th and 17th century." Has it stopped?
  7. You won't have to run very fast to catch him.
  8. I don't like to be unkind so I won't name the centre half involved in a terrible debacle. Fair play. He was outstanding when he played for Buckie Thistle. Willie T came in from St Mirren and steadied the ship.
  9. You can't eliminate three hundred years of shared history and enterprise. "Scotland" now is not the "Scotland" that existed pre-union, even less the "Scotland" that seemed to exist when William Wallace was a red Clydeside shop steward, living in a wee bit hill and glen and painting his face blue.
  10. We've struggled to no avail against umpteen other poor teams. Accies was almost relaxing.
  11. Best to know what the enemy is saying. Speaking of enemies, I heard a fragment of Brazil on Talksport the other day when he said he was hearing whispers that the ownership of Rangers was up in the air again. Nothing developed from that.
  12. Harry's book is "Tougher Than Bullets" Excellent.
  13. True about McLean and Henderson. Actually, McMillan and Baxter didn't get much because of the ominous presence of retribution at right half.
  14. All the guys we've mentioned could take it as well as give it out without writhing in pretend agony or squealing to the ref. They just dealt with things later in their own way.
  15. Baxter or McKinnon - who was the party animal? I rest my case.
  16. Nothing in it. All the names I mentioned above are Dreadnought class. You could pick any one of them as the flagship.
  17. You could nominate a legion of the tough as teak fearless - the entire Iron Curtain, Willie Rae, Telfer, Shearer, Millar, Greig, Forsyth, Souness, Roberts, Hurlock, Brown but foremost is Harold Davis. As well as his defensive duties which he tackled like the clap of doom he ran protection for McMillan and Baxter. It's a team game isn't it?
  18. Aye, we turned out smart at the fitba' in those days. Young blokes in dark suits, white shirt and tie, lassies in royal blue costumes. Blazer and flannels, myself.
