  1. I have no clue whatsoever who should be the new manager. Rangers are long gone from hiring in the Souness/Advocaat Category which means Ancelotti must stay at Real for now and I have no knowledge of the lower levels. Whoever is offered the job should have a consistent record. At the beginning of this season the chap at Aberdeen was a diamond and Gray at Hibs was a laughingstock out of his depth. Now look at them. (NB: This is not an endorsement of either)
  2. Got a bit of a fright there at first glance.
  3. Good idea.
  4. I think @Rousseau has taken that into account in computing the list.
  5. A name springs out of that list but sorry Wilf, but you’ll never get a job in the UK. Who wants their team called the Nancy Boys?
  6. Wonderful footballer. Gordon Smith is my preference as indeed would be Willie Henderson.
  7. I was going to say “and losing ground to the field” but if he looks back he’ll see that the field such as it is, is about two furlongs behind.
  8. Pygmies in footballing terms. Gordon and Robertson each at the height of his form might have been considered for selection in better times, Souttar for a B International or the Scottish League side.
  9. Forgot it was on. Saw the last eight minutes plus added. Dreadful. Players didn’t look bothered. Maybe they prefer not to be selected for future games. If I had remembered, I suppose I would have watched the first ten and then switched off.
  10. Genius with a football when he matured or maybe in his younger day the platform he was on wasn’t as solid as it became. In a team game artists need labourers for the mundane tasks.
  11. To stir up controversy, here’s a best Scotland XI since resumption at the end of hostilities: Goram, McGrain, Caldow, McKay, McKinnon, Baxter, Smith, White, Reilly, Law, Liddell.
  12. The protection of the civil rights of individuals has nothing to do with a football club.
  13. Any amount of heroes on this. FA Cup semifinal 1962. Reported attendance at Hillsborough of 65,000. No disasters. No large scale trouble. I wonder why that was?
  14. I’ll have to defer to compo. Not for the first time either.
  15. That’ll be Bobby Johnstone?
  16. Aye but only five of them played for an English club which I think was @Gribz’s original criterion which I diverted a wee bit. It’s a cracking team though and your point is absolutely valid. Wouldn’t have picked Forsyth.
  17. Yeah but his motes are a hell of a lot worse than my beams.
  18. I’ve edited my original post to confine the selection to Scottish players playing in the Football League. Brown, Parker, Thomson, Gabriel, Ure, Mckay, Leggatt, White, St John, Law and Liddell.
  19. When will we see his like again? Clarke? McInnes? Docherty Dundee? I think not. Moyes would be at least as good a choice as any current Englishmen.
  20. Absent real Scotsmen I’m left with these poor substitutes: Seaman, Terry(C) Stam, Vidic, Scholes, Giggs, Vieira, Essien, Silva, Aguero, Drogba.
  21. We could have picked two outstanding teams of real Scotsmen playing in the Football League from the 1950s/60s. These days are gone now.
  22. Perhaps it was aimed at some of the weird notions coming out of US Colleges. This is no time to offend Californians.
  23. Just remove the drum.
  24. If you want to defend Europe you are opposed to “the Global Majority”. It’s forbidden to think such a thought let alone cause an inference to be drawn from a banner. Free speech is haram.
  25. Not nearly enough so heinous was the transgression.
