Best to know what the enemy is saying.
Speaking of enemies, I heard a fragment of Brazil on Talksport the other day when he said he was hearing whispers that the ownership of Rangers was up in the air again. Nothing developed from that.

Aye even bullets couldn't stop Davis.
Harry's book is "Tougher Than Bullets"
Excellent.

What about Grahem Roberts is he anywhere near?
Been mentioned more than once.

Poor kid. ........

True about McLean and Henderson. Actually, McMillan and Baxter didn't get much because of the ominous presence of retribution at right half.

All the guys we've mentioned could take it as well as give it out without writhing in pretend agony or squealing to the ref. They just dealt with things later in their own way.

Who said that, Ian?

Baxter or McKinnon - who was the party animal?
I rest my case.

Nothing in it. All the names I mentioned above are Dreadnought class. You could pick any one of them as the flagship.

You could nominate a legion of the tough as teak fearless - the entire Iron Curtain, Willie Rae, Telfer, Shearer, Millar, Greig, Forsyth, Souness, Roberts, Hurlock, Brown but foremost is Harold Davis.
As well as his defensive duties which he tackled like the clap of doom he ran protection for McMillan and Baxter. It's a team game isn't it?

Harold Davis bar none.

Aye, we turned out smart at the fitba' in those days. Young blokes in dark suits, white shirt and tie, lassies in royal blue costumes.
Blazer and flannels, myself.

That's the strip that beat Dundee in the epic cup final.

Call these boots, Compo?
Looks like Margot Fonteyn's ballet shoes compared to mine.

I knew a couple of devout Jambos who were well up on junior and juvenile football in Edinburgh. They were devastated when McCartney preferred Rangers to Hearts. These guys were real football men not prone to exaggeration and were certain he would be better than Baxter. He never made it.

Thanks old boy
In fairness, I didn't know myself. I had to ask Compo.

The Rangers Sports Day was a mid-summer event attracting entries from world class athletes with a five-a-side football tournament to swell crowds to 30,000 +
Ibrox was also the venue for Glasgow City Police Sports earlier in summer.
As you say, BH, first team (blues) v reserves (reds) was the big pre-season event again with crowds at ver 30,000

Looks like reds v blues pre-season.
The hero in the middle about to be toppled by Harold is Sammy Baird. The other chap looks like Willie Telfer. If so that's a life-threatening situation for Sammy. Just as well he was a hardy lad himself.

"It seems, going by the deductions made here, that this position is one not necessarily of coaching, but more about the local knowledge on opponents, grounds, stadia, etc, and that therefore communication skills should be at the fore for any successful candidate." TB at #73 above.
I think that's right. Pedro needs someone who can tell him what it's like at a mid-week match at Kilmarnock - the ground, the pitch, what it's like if Rangers go ahead or behind, the opposition, how they normally play, who their hard man is, who can control the play etc. If he stays he'll get to know all that himself so it's a short term position and it would be helpful if the incumbent could do some coaching.
Failing McCann, my preference from the purported nominations is Lovenkrands. A formal coaching qualification may not be necessary for the job.

You will need a snub nosed revolver.
May I recommend this?
The vast number of scribblers committing this and other crimes of ignorance probably justifies a small tactical nuclear weapon.

We've struggled to no avail against umpteen other poor teams. Accies was almost relaxing.
