  1. Apparently the deal has been done.

bbc Scoland will be in Conclave to decide how to treat him. He'll probably be ok. Hearts are reasonably well regarded at Pacific Quay since Mrs Budge but it wouldn't take much for them to change their minds. He might have been safer at Hibs.

    Watch for the smoke.

  2. John Motson's all time combined England and Scotland XI. Interesting.

    Peter Shilton

Danny McGrain Bobby Evans Bobby Moore Roger Byrne

Jimmy Johnstone Paul Gascoigne Jim Baxter Bobby Charlton

    Jimmy Greaves Denis Law

Bobby Evans? Good wing half and decent centre half in his latter days but better than Young, Woodburn, Wright, Charlton, Terry and umpteen others never in a madman's dream.

One of the wingers has to be Tom Finney but otherwise fair enough except this eleven is better.

    Seaman

    Armfield

    Wright

    Woodburn

    Caldow

    Finney

    Greig

    Dalglish

    Edwards

    Reilly

    Shearer

I didn't pick Baxter, Charlton or Greaves because they're already in Motson's team.

That's Alan, not Bobby Shearer btw.

  3. Walterbear, the Supreme Court will trudge to its own decision on the basis of the submissions made at the appeal hearing. Neither side made any argument that depended on the outcome of the case against Whyte.

I can't see any connection myself but if there had been the SC would have continued the appeal to hear further submissions from Counsel.

  4. And for afters, "Claudius the God".

I thought the TV series was a pretty reasonable representation of the original unlike the rubbish they put out today.
