  1. No reason why not according to the FA Technical Director, or somesuch (copyright der B)

He cited their world class players, Harry Kane (fair enough) Deli Alli (not quite) and John Stones (doesn’t get a regular game for City) So that’s not quite three.

    But hope is always positive.

  2. G’aun yersel’, big Beattie. I didn’t know you had it in you.

26th, what do you do for your holidays? Spend a fortnight on R4?

I doff my bonnet to you. How you can listen to all that RKailyaird rubbish daily? I suspect a previous employer taught you the technique of resistance to brain washing.

I see there is a concerted effort by the Scottish media to try and dissuade Gerrard from taking the job. Chris Sutton, Davie Provan, Kris Commons... all suggesting it is a bad move.

Unlike their English counterparts Shearer, Wright, Cascarino etc who all think it’s a great move.

    Funny that.

That’s why I’ve changed my mind. If the tim crayon pushers are agin it, I’m for it.

  4. I voted agaiinst SG in the Poll but every tim scribbler in the land has his crayons out ridiculing the proposition so such a concerted barrage must mean they’ve got a touch of the fear. I’ve changed my mind. “Stevie G it’s got to be!”

Talk Sport had a phone-in on this on Friday. First caller, John, a Partick Thistle supporter.

”Rainjurrs urra joke up here. Thuvv nae munny”

I see predictive speech has been invented.

Also according to them there are 2 "unstarred" actions relating to all of this in the courts at the moment. Unstarred means King didn't need to appear in person.

Unstarred means nobody has to appear.

  6. This Yousaf chap is some kind of “government” minister but here he is tweeting about football at two minutes past nine.

Perhaps he was just starting his tea break having been at his desk since six.

With our ineptitude at defending and McGregors poor handling of crosses and his weakness at long shots and I think he has conceded 60 plus goals this season ,hmmmm sell God and stick with Alnwick .

When did He sign for us? He’s not enhanced His reputation, has He?

  8. Frankie is right. In Souness we were getting a great player and an exceptional personality. Gerrard is no longer a player and though he was a leader on the park I don’t think he will be as strong a character as GS.

Souness also had the advantage of an alumnus from the McLean School of Soccer Management as his assistant.

I wonder how good John Greig would have been if he had started either as an assistant to someone like Jim McLean or as manager lower down the leagues.

  9. It was five but then they gave away two.

Roma were excellent for the first twenty and last ten minutes. For the rest of the match Liverpool were brilliant.

Lovren, however, is so bad I expect King is at Anfield to sign him.

Van thingmy occupies a lot of space but he’s easily drawn out to the flanks and gives the ball away a lot.

    Salah is sublime this season.

  10. The Depress is obviously well miffed.

I’m not a fan f JC but I expect he was just waiting a decent interval to allow friends, family, loved ones and the like to get their tributes in first.

Was the Duke of Middleton bothered?

  11. In about 1961/62 there was some scheme to enlarge Ibrox to bring the railway inside the stadium so you bought a combined match/travel ticket at Central, alighted at Ibrox, up the stairs from the platform and onto the terracing where the SJ is now.

There was also a notion to sign Juste Fontaine from Reims.

    Neither happened.

  12. I disagree that the crowd will start to turn if there is a lacklustre first half. The crowd will turn unless there is a blistering first five minutes and an opening goal followed by more at regular intervals and plenty of incidents to keep people’s attention on the field of play and not on their several devices. You see, without incident - dirty Hearts, cheating ref -  many will clear off to the pub after the third goal (we should be so lucky)

Rangers supporters - the greatest in the world? Probably. But not at a match at Ibrox.
