  1. Not quite your best, pete, but a helluva lot better than the subject of the OP.
  2. VAA-LEN-CIA. Been running through my head all evening.
  3. Rector, not Chancellor. I think the modern way is for students to choose he biggest goon they can think of. Plug, Soutar and Bairn would have been wasting their time.
  4. If she’s a profit sharing member in Harper McLeod LLPG there is a conflict whether or not she acts direct for the Separate Entity Club Like No Other. You might say the same if her salary has a general profit related bonus.
  5. It’s getting rave notices on another board.
  6. It’s not just the Pele save. (I saw McCloy do something similar for Motherwell against Neil Martin of the Hibs) It’s the saves he made without the need for acrobatics because of his anticipation and sureness of catch.
  7. Sorry. Got my mind stuck on English ‘keepers. Yashin without doubt. The other grainy legend, Khomich; Maier, Buffon, Zoff? I think it’s Banks.
  8. Handful? Who was better? Shilton? Not quite. Frank Swift was the legend ‘keeper when I was a wee boy but you can’t make judgements from a few seconds of grainy newsreel. A chap on Talksport suggested Peter Bonetti. Fine if Haffey is the comparison but not Banks. Seaman? Not as good as Shilton? Who am I missing?
  9. He was indeed, Compo. I suppose we’ll be deluged with more soccer grief on the airways.
  10. “Home end” - “two men....both from Aberdeen” Couple of clues there?
  11. That could happen. This won’t: Fulham 1-2 United Palace 2-1 Hammers Town 1-3 Arsenal Liverpool 4-1 Bournemouth So’ton 1-1 Cardiff Watford 1-2 Everton Brighton 2-0 Burnley ’Spurs 2-0 Leicester City 3-1 Chelsea Wolves 2-0 Mags
  12. I can’t see Bill as an appeaser. If the bbc are Herr Hitler and pete is Mr Churchill who is Bill? Not Stalin, surely. Patton? Put me down for FDR.
  13. Here is the result of the match to be played later this evening: Everton 1, Manchester City 3.
  14. The team has to take charge of the game from the first whistle and then concentrate for 90+ minutes. Forget about stylish fancy stuff until they’re three goals up. The players have the ability to do the first bit but can they all concentrate? That might be a reason to play Defoe. I think he’s got that ability.
  15. Everton are soft toffee these days.
  16. So, Liverpool haven’t won the league after all. Journos, eh? What are they like?
  17. Twice a cup winner with Clyde. celtic and Hibs vanquished. Unbelievable. Retired 1962.
  18. Not going to happen, coop. Even if they were the largest party it’s unlikely thei seats woul be enough to form the goverment. Lab/Lib/Green coalition likely.
  19. Now to repeat the mistakes of midweek: Hotspurs 2-0 Magpies Brighton 0-0 Watford Burnley 1-2 So’ton Chelsea 4-0 Town Palace 2-0 Fulham Everton 1-2 Wolves Cardiff 1-2 Bournemouth Leicester 0-3 United City 3-1 Arsenal Hammers 2-2 Liverpool
  20. Yet another member of the travelling Irish-scoto commentating family. How do they get so many bbc jobs? I suppose the answer is that most of them are outside contractors not staff, but even so.
  21. City stumble badly. United come back for a draw in Fergie-esque style. Excellent win for Wolves up to seventh in the table ahead of Everton.
  22. Their ability to mangle a metaphor is phenomenal. If you’re simple, best to keep it simple.
  23. Forgot these games were on. Gunners 3-0 Bluebirds Fulham 2-0 Brighton Town 1-1 Toffees Wolves 2-4 Hammers United 4-0 Clarets Mags 0-3 City Bournemouth 1-3 Chelsea So’ton 1-2 Palace Liverpool 4-1 Leicester ’Spurs 3-1 Watford
