  1. I see what you mean but there were two attackers clear on the left. What if the winger crossed? Perhaps Goldson was aware of that hence a bit of hesitation. It wasn't perfect defending but I don’t think you can single out any one of them to carry all the blame.
  2. This is easy. No excuses. Arsenal 3-1 Burnley Villa 1-2 Bournemouth Brighton 0-2 West Ham Everton 2-2 Watford Canaries 2-0 Magpies So’ton 0-3 Liverpool City 3-1 ‘Spurs Sheff Utd 0-2 Palace Chelsea 3-1 Leicester Wolves 9-0 United CORRECTION: I’ve had another thought about this. Wolves 1-3 United
  3. The team talk is easy tonight. ”celtic are in the next round. Rangers aren’t - yet”
  4. Less of the smiling, Bill. Try sneering.
  5. We auld yins have been here before, eh compo.
  6. I never intrude into private grief and I never listen to bbc Scotland. But on this occasion I have done both. Well worth the listen. You can almost hear the strains of the Funeral March in the background. If bbc in London need commentary for the next State Funeral Messrs Gordon, English and Bonnar are the go-to guys. Near greetin’.
  7. Last night I didn’t know they had a game ‘til I saw the result here. I’ll reserve full gloat until after Thursday.
  8. In retrospect, it was Watford who surprised me.
  9. Pointless exercise. The two league games should have been designated additionally as home and away legs of the Final.
  10. Get your money on this. Cast iron, dead certs. Liverpool 3-0 Norwich Hammers 1-3 City Bournemouth 2-0 Blades Burnley 2-0 Southampton Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton Watford 3-0 Brighton Hotspurs 5-1 Villa Leicester 2-2 Wolves Newcastle 1-3 Arsenal United 2-1 Chelsea
  11. Hard to argue that, compo. Sentiment clouds my judgement with Mr Struth so I’ll leave him and other Rangers managers out of the reckoning and agree 100% about Paisley. The reserve five would be Bill Nicholson (‘Spurs) Joe Mercer (City) Stan Cullis (Wolves) Bertie Mee (Arsenal - brought them back from the dead) Bill Shankly No room for Busby or Harry Catterick. Top five Scottish League managers excluding Rangers and Stein - Bill Shankly (Dundee) Tommy Walker (Hearts) Hugh Shaw (Hibs) Eddie Turnbull (Aberdeen, Hibs) Malky Macdonald (Kilmarnock) You’ll see I’ve missed out the Sportsound favourites, Yogi and the two Jimmies. What do I know, eh?
  12. One must just trust in Providence that this will not come to pass. Looking ominous, though.
  13. Correct. Don’t get me started or the topic will go off the rails. See what I did there? Twice.
  14. Barker is a City ace, apparently. What does that make Silva?
  15. I wonder if ridicule is the answer. People don’t like being laughed at but don’t mind playing the rôle of villain. What do you think, coop? You’re the psycho guy.
  16. Banning bbc would be excellent but there would have to be considerable and presumably expensive advertising on ITV and SKY and I regret, also in the gutter press to explain the reasons. If it were done well it could be humiliating for the bbc.
  17. Good business for old Brendan. He’ll buy a more than competent replacement for £40M a d he still has the same amount for whoever else he needs.
  18. Very hard to say. The team would have to get used to being attacked away from home instead of facing packed defences. Rangers were apparently better than both Derby and Blackburn for a narrow victory and a draw both at home. I take a guess at just above mid table at best for a year or so.
