A rare viewing of Sportscelts yesterday evening. The match footage was preceded by shots from the League Cup Final which showed the goals and the penalty miss and the winners’ presentation celebrations. I suppose that was to compensate for the absence of celebrations of the right kind at the end of Sunday’s match. Wee McLeod was delirious about the execution of the disallowed goal. Couldn’t stop squeaking about it. To be fair he didn’t argue that the scorer was onside.

Astute observations.

Not all season ticket holders want to go to all the matches which is disgraceful. They should pledge to attend every match, only a medical certificate will excuse. Business, holidays, mother’s day, nativity play, school sports - forget it. Close family funeral - maybe but just the once. Perhaps holders could nominate a substitute to turn up when the holders themselves have lost hope or simply can’t be bothered. All holders who post on this Board are exempt from this criticism but a couple of wobblers should watch their step.

Should be up to the fitness coach (“trainer” in olden times) to recommend and up to the manager to decide. The names of the greetin’ bairns should be on the list for the end of season bin. They should really be binned now but we’re short-staffed.

Some great players - Denis Viollet, Albert Quixall, Bryan Douglas. Some great Scots too - Billy Stevenson (should never have let him go) St John, Crerand, Morgan, Herd, Lochhead, Leggatt and no less than four capped ‘keepers, Bill Brown, Tommy Lawrence, Adam Blacklaw and Lawrie Leslie. That number of Scottish ‘keepers might explain the goals deluge but two of them were in winning sides, Brown of all people let in four but ‘Spurs drew and only the ageing Leslie was a loser.
