  1. During the international break the brain has processed trillions of stats and form indicators hence the perfect prediction:

    Mags 0-2 Chelsea

    Villa 1-2 BHA

    ’Spurs 3-1 City

    United 5-0 West Brom

    Fulham 2-1 Everton

    Blades 1-0 Hammers

    Leeds 2-1 Gunners

    Brendan’s FP 3-0 New Brendan’s

    Burnley 2-2 Palace

    Wolves 3-1 So’ton

  2. It’s a puzzling case. There are many instances of the Police and the Procurator simply getting things wrong. There are a few cases, reportedly, where frustrated bobbies may have gone after an habitual criminal to get him because he got off on something else. (Imperfect justice but the bloke most likely did it anyway and he would have been going to do something else in a day or two) But a malicious prosecution at this level? What’s the motive? It’s not as if COPFS is overrun with vengeful hunns.

  3. 17 minutes ago, 26th of foot said:

University of Strathclyde(Glasgow's premier seat of tertiary education)

That may be true. Not for me to say.

I recall more than five. decades past,  attending, as a guest, a meeting of the Diagnostic Society of the University of Edinburgh. Needless to say the entire proceedings were a mile above my head but I recall a reference to the newly chartered Strathclyde as “Scotland’s only List D university”.

If it’s any comfort the effete dilettante who said that also called LSE “a working man’s polytechnic”.  Bit rich considering that in the competition 26th mentions, Edinburgh had just been bested by the cockney sparrers from that very institution.

Anyway: stats: expected goals. Many a time I’ve eagerly ascended the terracing stairs expecting a barrowload and got/sod all.

  4. De Bruyne misses a penalty. McGinns goal for Villa after just two minutes disallowed. Too early in the game though it didn’t matter in the end.

Sheffield United struggling and Wolves seem to have lost something. Jota?

In the FA Cup Sunderland beaten at home by Mansfield, a team near the bottom of a league even lower than the one Sunderland are in. No great surprise to most but still a shock for folk who remember the real Sunderland, a top line club but that was in the days of Roker Park before the “Black Cats” nonsense

  5. BHA3-1 Burnley

    So’ton 2-0 Magpies

    Toffees 2-2 United

    Palace 0-2 Leeds

    Chelsea 3-0 Blades

    Hammers 4-1 Fulham

    Baggies 0- 3 Hotspur

    Leicester 2-1 Wolves

    City 2-2 Liverpool

    Gunners 2-0 Villa

compo declined to forecast Leicester v Wolves. Concealing information from the bookies, I expect.

  6. What exactly is a playmaker? A man who can receive the ball at a distance from goal and either by beating an opponent(s) or by releasing a pass creates a chance for another to finish? Who is that in the current team? Hagi? Aribo?

John Greig could win the ball and drive forward scattering a couple of defenders then pass the ball in roughly the direction of Ralph Brand to crack into the net? Was JG a playmaker?
