Gerhardt Neef, one of the continentals that livened up Ibrox life in the late sixties. There was King Kai and Swedish World Cup semi-finalist, Orjan Persson; I'm sure there was another, cannot remember

    Another Sorensen, midfielder.

    Beck? Is Iceland continental?

  2. The Morn:

    Blades 1-0 Newcastle

    Burnley 0-3 United

    Wolves 2-2 Everton

    The day efter:

    City 3-1 Brighton

    Villa 1-3 ‘Spurs

    Arsenal 2-1 Palace

Fulham v Chelsea is Friday. I need time to think which set of west London fauntleroys will win. Chelsea most likely.

    Fixture Changes:

Villa v ‘Spurs postponed and Tottenham to play at Fulham on Wednesday. 1-3.

Fulham v Chelsea postponed to Saturday.

  3. I thought Crawley won easily. Shaky start for Crawley then midway through the first half Leeds had a fifteen minutes of domination when it looked as though they were going to score a lot but it didn’t happen. After that you couldn’t tell which side was the Premier League. After the second goal it was a question of how many.

    Bielsa out. Pulis is available.

  4. No votin’ ‘cos Billy Ritchie’s no on the Ballot.

He and Niven were the ‘keepers I saw most. Unflappable, reliable, rarely spectacular, never flamboyant. Ritchie especially had tremendous positional sense and ability to anticipate the shot.

OK. That’s enough sulking. Goram. I refer to m’friend Bluedell’s observations above. Says a lot about McGregor that I had to think about it.

WBA are a championship side at best, how on earth is he going to keep them up.

Big Sam out. Big Warnock in.

And up front - Lacazette - 50million? Really? Id have Vardy ahead of him all day

Lacazette plays well enough but not at that price.

Vardy I’d have ahead of anyone now that Aguero’s getting on a bit.

  6. Everton at home needed extra time to beat Rotherham 2-1. In the old days it would have been the exciting prospect of a replay at Rotherham and a disappointing 1-4 defeat.

Chorley beating Derby 2-0 approaching halftime.

Blackpool must have a chance of beating West Brom but the tie of the round is Arsenal v Newcastle United. Old time FA Cup pedigree, that one.

I remember Brenden Rogers saying how in England the youngsters at the EPL clubs were on a different level when it came to professionalism and dedicating themselves to the game opposed to the majority in Scotland. Not talent, but an approach that gave them a chance to make the most out of what they had......It reminded me of so many European dissapointments over the years, when you'd hear someone say bigger, faster, stronger, about our opponents.

Correct. I once heard Bob Crampsey say what I had often thought: “They (the Europeans) even run out of the tunnel better than we do.”

  8. I saw none of the play, heard no commentary and only looked in here when I thought the match must be over so my opinion is based on nothing.

So, from that position of ignorance, the strike pair must be Roofe and Itten.

Hagi must play. He provides ball control and effective passing. He’s not a sprinter. He gets pushed around sometimes. Ian McMillan wasn't Morgan the Mighty but he won games.
