  1. Considerable disturbance in Swansea last night as mourners after a funeral set fire to a car, crash another one into it, break windows and attack police. Residents warned to stay indoors for their own safety.

Will FM Sturgeon be calling on fellow celt-socialist, Drakeford, to deplore the incident and take the strongest measures against those involved and anybody else he can think of while he’s at it?

Nothing to do with the SG, of course but that’s never stopped her from yapping about other people’s business.

Yes there are, and Mr Scott7, I expect, will be along to explain the origins of said name.

The origins of keelie I know not. I only mention the derivation propounded by Jack House, the Weegie-Kimg.

Other speculations of equal validity are available.

Did Weegie start in Leith? Wouldn’t be surprised. Much mischief comes out of there.

  3. The curtain falls on a season of predictions, abject even by my own pathetic standards.

    Gunners 4-1 BHA

    The Villa 0-3 Chelsea

    Fulham 1-2 Magpies

    Leeds 4-0 Baggies

    Leicester 1-3 ‘Spurs

    Liverpool 4-0 Palace

    City 2-2 Everton

    Blades 2-2 Burnley

    Hammers 1-2 So’ton

    Wolves 1-3 United

  4. Players about whom I could make a sensible judgement as opposed to childish adoration:

    Bill Brown,

    Danny McGrain, Eric Caldow,

John Greig (C)  Ronnie McKinnon Jim Baxter,

Gordon Smith (Hibs) Kenny Dalglish, Alan Gilzean, Denis Law, Davie Wilson.

  5. Can’t help. My knowledge of current Scottish footballers who don’t play for Rangers is minimal. I like the look of Nisbet at Hibs. Gallagher knows how to defend. McTominey has had a solid season. Armstrong and Forrest are good players though Forrest like Robertson hasn’t been at his best. McLaughlin for ‘keeper of course. Patterson, why not? Tierney plays some magical stuff if he’s able. Can you have a team of fullbacks? Dykes from the Billy Houliston school of centre-forwarding, Dumfries. McGinn must be good - everybody says so. Is that eleven yet? Mibbees Gilmour.

  6. Either of Gazza’s famous outfield two against Aberdeen is the main contender for the greatest goal but they are only contenders, the holder of the title being Kai’s epic thunderbolt.

Shouldn't Mrs Compo and I have been together 49 years a longer sentence than the Yorkshire ripper

I doff my. Bonnet to Mrs Compo for her reasonable and understanding attitude. Not all spouses are content to let their other halves muse happily to themselves.

Not sure if you have been keeping up with current affairs.

    The team is somewhat diverse.

We have a female team too.

True but I know what @Charlochmeans. The diversity of the team and the women’s XI are blanked out by the opposition. Rangers had a distinguished captain in Roman Catholic Lorenzo Amoruso but that doesn’t suit the agenda so it’s ignored.

  9. Not much time left to get this right.

    United 4-0 Fulham

    So’ton 1-2 Leeds

    BHA 2-1 City

    Chelsea 2-0 Leicester

    Everton 2-1 Wolves

    Newcastle 3-1 Blades

    Hotspur 2-1 Villa

    Palace 0-2 Arsenal

    Burnley 1-3 Liverpool

    Baggies 0-2 Hammers

  10. Congratulations, old bean. Just remember the advice of Bob Ferris and Terry Collier, Friday night is lads’ night. Midweek football, Saturdays and Sunday mornings are also reserved times.

My own advice: if you’ve got a garage, shed or even boiler room, defend them to the last square inch. The rest of the house is for Mrs gs.

  11. The Championship hasn’t offered anything exciting this season compared to last or the season before.

I hope it’s Brentford but @Gribzis probably right, they haven’t got enough. Neither Bournemouth nor Barnsley have any appeal. C’mon ye Swans as we say in Welsh.
