An excellent OP and tribute to Jim McLean. Not sure he’d have ‘transformed ‘ Rangers in the 1980’s though. It needed a total outsider to come in and do that which Souness did in1986. I think McLean would have struggled to attract the calibre of players to Rangers which Souness did

They’ve changed their keeper & CB’s since then. Hearts were putting balls right into the centre of their defence last week & they (in particular the keeper) were struggling. They have clear weaknesses in defence. We need to exploit that next Saturday

Hearts showed last Sunday how to play against the yahoos.

Sad news. Older Gersnetters will recall how after John Greig stepped down as Rangers manager in 1983 McLean had agreed to take over from him only to change his mind. McLean was undoubtedly one of the best Scottish coaches of his era. However I do think when Graeme Souness arrived at Rangers in 1986 Scottish football was changed forever and what he achieved would never be repeated at a club like Dundee United again.

Gerard needs to be bold & sub Kent at times when he’s ineffective. And the ibrox pitch is looking in poor condition again at this time of year. That’s a worry.

Delighted with the win but why take Hagi off ? Having his best games in ages. And Kent struggling just now

Am I correct in saying that the only way to see this game tonight is to buy it on St Johnstone TV ?

Rather than yesterday’s win against Motherwell, I think our next 5 games will be more important to us if we’re to win the title. We’ve got always against St Johnstone, St Mirren & Aberdeen and two homes against Hibz &the yahoos. Win all of them & we’re in a very strong position indeed.

We were laughing at McGregor near the end. There wasn’t a bit of dirt on his strip. No need to wash that strip ? summed the game up for me

The cross they scored from wasn’t a corner. Their goal scorer is in an offside position when the initial header comes in. Goalkeeper saves. He can’t play the ball

And was their third goal offside ? Guy who scored after McGregor saved is offside at initial cross

Looking back tonight their right winger Connolly caused Bassey all sorts problems and set up their first two goals. When barasic came on he ended up getting subbed. That’s a worry for me. We should have coped better. Did no one watch St Mirren? Also I do genuinely wonder whether Itten and Roofe are better than an in form Morelos. Alfie might be off form just now but he does work opposite defences. Despite his goal last week I remain unconvinced Itten is of the standard we require

Itten and Roofe need to do more. Work their defence a bit more. Also Kent & Aribo need to create more.

We need more goals from the forwards. Perhaps now time for Itten to be given an extended run.

Gerard should substitute Morelos at HT. Heading for a red card. Not worth the risk

We needed to become less reliant on Morelos for goals and we have.

Possibly our best performance in the EL group. Controlled the game throughout. Zungu looks a real find. Covers ground well, strong in the tackle & has excellent distribution.
