  1. My view is that whyte deliberately instigated an administration to try & force HMRC to settle all debts including the BTC but this was never going to work.

How he got into that position  in the first place is what I think we’ll never find out. Murray let him into the hen house as you say. But was it all his decision? And was there more than one fox in the henhouse?

Craig Whyte was and it seems still is a distraction.

I find it very difficult to believe a chiseller like Whyte, with no significant track record in business to his name, can suddenly sidle up to Rangers and convince a man like David Murray that he's a credible buyer. That simply doesn't happen in the real world and certainly not to someone like Murray, who surrounds himself with such high-calibre corporate advisors that being 'duped" isn't even a possibility. I've been round those tables, albeit on a smaller scale, and I know the extent of the diligence that's conducted on people like Whyte - Murray would have known when Whyte took a piss, let alone how much money he had and where it came from.

The only conclusion I draw about Craig Whyte is that, for whatever reason, he was willing to be a pawn in someone else's game, someone far beyond Whyte's pay grade. I imagine Whyte serves his purpose every time the spotlight is shone on him rather than the real culprits and it's worth considering that had he been convicted and jailed, the price of his ongoing silence would have soared. It's likely we'll never get near the truth of what went on but I think Whyte was the least of it.

Bill, you are more knowledgeable about this than me, but didn’t whyte literally con money from ticketus to pay off the bank and the bank have kept that money?

    how can that be legal?

Davies was a 15 million quid CH 2 years ago. Unless the training at Liverpool has made him worse somehow he is most likely the best CH has seen since VVD

I’ll stick my neck out here & suggest we’ll end up selling  Souttar ….

To piss Hertz right off 🤠

I don't think we are done yet by a long shot.

If McCrorie leaves or goes out on loan we’ll need at least one keeper.

And looks to me we’d let Roofe and Sakala both go if we got acceptable offers so they’d need replaced

Some of the kick-outs by McGregor and the kick-about around the area even when faced of a hint of press was again terrible. We sure needed some DM who offered an option ... or indeed a simple kick up the park.

Dunno why Kent is excused from being dropped. Spurs sussed him out early doors and he never really got out of that one-dimensional mode of his. One step-over too many, a step too far and all the running was pointless. Would his name be Wylde, he`d be slaughtered. You do wonder whether Yilmaz will be deployed further up the park, as he is quite good at attacking.

Sands looked better than Souttar*, though the latter probably needs some time still and won`t play up against the likes of Kane and Co. anytime soon again. IMHO, pre-season or not, Spurs never really looked like getting out of third gear. They cut us apart in midfield rather easily time and again.

*Gut feeling says that Goldson and Davies will be our first choice centre-halfs, Souttar and Sands (who is more of a DM) back-ups.

Teams know to put 2 or 3 men on Kent to nullify him. When that happens we need to switch to a plan B which we don’t always seem to have

  6. I think there are times when you just have to accept you’re beaten by class like we were with those two second half goals today by Kane

Couple of pointers today from ourselves, I was surprised to see McGregor in goals today. Just giving him game time or is GvB unconvinced by McLaughlin? And if McCrorie is going out on loan or leaving we’ll need another keeper. Also presume we’ll see Davies alongside Goldson at CB. I’m not convinced by Souttar already and don’t think he can play a full season for us of 60 odd games. Sands did well but I presume Katic and Simpson aren’t part of GvB’s plans and Helander too probably as he enters the final year of his contract

League leaders in Belgium last season for the best part of the season, got pipped for the title by Brugges in a silly title play-off ... being promoted to the top tier in that very season. Dunno how many players they have lost, but that IMHO is the worst possible draw.

Perhaps the fact they did so well in their first season in the top Belgian division after promotion doesn’t say much about the Belgian domestic league

The top Belgian players all play outside Belgium

Same with Patterson and Tav - raked in circ £35-£40M for two players who weren't established 1st team players.

Don't get me wrong, Patterson and Bassey are both excellent players, but this has to be seen as a positive. This has to be our model going forward.

Fans may not like it, but getting huge fees for "potential" is massive. That's why we signed 4 of 5 players for the B Team.

Lowry and McCann look like the two who could be next. Both have huge potential and clubs already sniffing around Lowry - that's why it was essential we got him signed up on a new contract.

I wrote an article almost quarter of a century ago saying that we needed to invest more in youth and development teams as that is where the profit comes - Patterson and Bassey are proof this works.

Spot on. Profit certainly does come from youth & development.

about 3 years ago I read an article about Manchester City having sold 15 young players for £150m who had only 30 first team starts between them.

    we’re not at that level…..yet 🤠
