  1. Craiggy 1881 - I most certainly do think SKY will have a big say in all of this so yes I do.

Don't forget too neither the SFA or SPL want us in div3

Don't forget too the SFA could over-rule the vote on Fri if they think it's not in best interests of Scottish football

  2. if Regan is to go then who will it be who will carry out the eagerly-awaited deed? I don't see anyone at the SFA at the moment who is brave enough to show him the door. he's been hopeless as CEO at the SFA as he went from one crisis to another.

  3. As I said in another thread on here these clubs face either survival or 'sporting integrity'. They can't have both.

They should do the right thing & contact Charles Green and strike a deal with him to allow Rangers into SPL next season (without transfer embargos & sanctions please) for the good of Scottish football so we can all move on from this sorry episode.

  4. Damn right I'd mind. These titles were won fair & square on the pitch. Timothy's main arguement is we paid undisclosed payments(in the form of EBT's) to players & we couldn't afford this. I have 2 commnts on this:-

    1) these payments were in section 6 of Rangers annual accounts every year throughout the EBT years. Did SFA or SPL never think to question this & why are they so alarmed now ?

    2) Regards debts many clubs ran up debts last decade. Shellik were no exception. At the end of the O'Neil era shellik had debts of around £30m. So they couldn't afford players too according to what they allege against us

A condition to any re-entry to SPL following yesterday's SFL vote must be that this EBT investigation is dropped. No sanctions, transfer embargos too BTW.

  5. 'we survived before SKY'

Will someone please tell all the numpties running Scottish clubs that the days when clubs could survive on their gate receipts alone ended decades ago.

Clubs depend on sponsorships, advertising,TV deals etc to make up the difference between what they require & what they get at the gate.

That is why panic is now setting in amongst a number of clubs.

Following yesterday's vote it's now either survival or 'sporting integrity' .

The SPL clubs have a choice on Monday. If I were one of them I know what my choice would be

  6. If we are in SPL next season then there must be no sanctions etc. This condition must be laid down by Charles Green who now has to play hardball with these people. He has power now and he must use it wisely for our benefit. Rangers in div3 suits nobody despite what some of our supporters say

We aren't dealing with normal business people who run SPL clubs. I wonder how many of them realise the implications of yesterday's vote. It's now about survival for almost all of them some of which have eye-watering debt levels for the size of business they are. They may go in administration sooner than they think or need to go part time. Who knows

  7. YORKSHIRE BEAR - not sure I agree with you. If we make 3 or 4 signings (no transfer embargo) then I see no reason we can't win Div1 at canter. I'm a bit biased here but of the players who've left in all honesty only McGregor, Davies & Naismith(if fit) were worth keeping IMO. The rest we won't miss for various reasons

  8. ANCHORMAN - What I mean is Div3 really must be last resort if all else fails. Frankly I don't want us there. I want us in Div1 or SPL with no sanctions. Green needs to show his worth now and wipe the floor with Regan who must surely be on his way out now. Green has now got the power to determine whether or not SKY stay or not. He must use this power to crush Regan

  9. let's face facts. We won't be in div3. We'll be in div1 or even SPL. If we go to div3 our game would go into meltdown. The financial implications are that many clubs will go bust or have to go part time. The game would deteriorate drastically. The SFA (even with Regan as CEO) won't allow that to happen.

But has Charles Green not called the bluff of SFA/SPL/SFL today by accepting div3? he's forced them into a corner. They need to do something and fast to save Scottish football.Green holds all the aces now.He can demand wherever we play next season(div1 or SPL) that we have no sanctions or transfer embargo. And the SPL must drop its EBT investigation by Celtic's lawyers.

If not then we really will go to div3 and the financial carnage will truly begin.

  10. If we're in SPL next season (O'Regan says we won't) then Green must insist on there being no points deduction or transfer embargo. We have a strong bargaining position. Clubs now realise the financial implications of no Rangers in SPL.

    PLEASE NOTE THIS MR GREEN

  11. liewell's plan was for our newco to be in SPL but with 10pt penalties over next season 3 seasons. As Leggat said his nightmare is SPL without us and being stitched up by 11 other clubs as described above. Don't forget their wage bill must be sky high too

  12. Let's see if any club actually signs any of them, bearing in mind Green says he'll pursue this thro'courts. This could take months. if Green wins Clubs signing these players could effectively have played inelligible players leading to all sorts of issues. Are clubs willing to take that risk?

  13. can't see us in SPL next season. The 10 teams will vote us out to change the 11-1 voting system. One change which will probably come about is the end of SPL clubs keeping their home gate receipts. Bet LIEWELL hasn't thought about that. Maybe that's why his silence is deafening

  14. A complete squad rebuilding job may be required by the looks of things. Players do not even know what league we'll be in. McCabe would have been a low earner so I'm not too surprised

  15. yesterday's announcement was that the SPL were to investigate us for dual contracts/EBT's. One arguement THEY make is that we had players we couldn't afford and won titles as a result of this which certain cretins now want removed.

But rewind 10 years or so and recall Celtic's financial position too. It wasn't great was it ? remember their Chief Executive called Ian McLEOD? he was a specialist who ran companies with large overdrafts and basically managed that debt. He worked also at troubled companies such as Boots & Halfords as I recall. He, of course, left them b4 suville as the daily rebel at the time published a photo of him playing in a works 5 a side in a Rangers strip a few years b4. Coincidental or what?

And do I recall when O'Neil left their debts were around 30million ? this was of course substanially reduced when wee Chesney got them into the CL Knockout stages twice and he got hee-haw to spend

So you see when they accuse us of overspending theirs at that time was similar.
