  1. Ally's assistant taking over until the end of the season shows how low we've come and how little those running the show care.

Not even able to replace the manager in a suitable time frame?

    Embarrassing.

Wouldnt you rather they took their time & got the right candidate?

Quite frankly none of the names mentioned such as McCall, Butcher, Davies, MacInnes etc are outstanding although Davies would do for me simply because he's proved he can manage in a difficult division

  2. Many of those who don't want Davies at Ibrox dread his appointment.

They will not easily back him.

The club is far better to find someone where preconceived opinions are not such an important factor.

Davies would be a divisive figure. The last thing the club needs right now is another divisive figure.

I'm not opposed to a foreign manager with McDowall being retained as coach(durrant can go).Someone with a proven management record and with good contacts in the game.

  3. Ive a feeliing if we lose to Hibz on Saturday(as I expect we will) then I believe McCoist may be asked to step down immediately and his settlement would then need to be negotiated.

Should that become the case then we will then see if this board are up to the task and have been doing their homework(as they surely should) and will appoint a replacement of the right calibre expected by our support at the earliest opportunity.

  4. Law was very highly regarded at Motherwell because he was one of a few stand-out players in a squad which had been assembled for peanuts and mostly from free transfers.

He was also highly regarded at Rotherham before moving to Motherwell and noted in particular for creating goal scoring chances and notching up a lot of goal assists.

In fairness to Law, while he does seem to be inconsistent and under-performing in a lot of our games, he HAS scored a very credible number of goals for us this season so far. What's he on? 9 or 10 goals now and we're not even half way through the season?

Last season he scored a dozen or so goals for us, which despite the standard of opposition, isn't too bad for an inconsistent and under-performing central midfielder forced to play alongside some of our very mediocre players.

Could Ally & co have improved Law's performances? In hindsight probably, yes, but only by playing him alongside different players and possibly even in a different position (right) and/or a different system.

The main problem we have in MF at present is lack of creativity. Both Law & McLeod are essentially middle-to-front midfielders playing behind the strikers which explains why both have so many goals. Black is a defensive midfielder sitting in front of the back four - debatable whether that role has been needed in the lower divisions.

There is no central MF in the squad at present who can be described as creative. It's all too apparent when watching.Unless you're Ally McCoist of course

  5. McGregor doesn't need signed up for anything. He got a one year contract at the start of the season which had a clause in it stating if he played a certain number of games the contract became a two year contract. I believe he has now played that specified number of games meaning he's with Rangers til the end of next season

  6. Why would it be closed on safety grounds?

I've not been this season but have been going for 20-odd years and never saw anything needing urgent repair, certainly anything being unsafe anyway.

(I do remember a bit of guttering hanging off last season but that is it.)

Most of the problems at Ibrox Sadium are cosmetic by looks of things. Not structural

  7. I dont see how we could ignore the board destroying rangers and beggaring us.

I also think ally has had all and more criticism that he deserves.

I think Ally has had hardly any criticism from certain quarters over these past two and a half years.

Notably the UOF, SOS and the usual suspects.Far too busy attacking a board who gave him many times more resources than he should have needed to win three successive promotions.

  8. this is what gets me about this whole affair. I think it's just ally putting another layer of murkiness between his actual performance and ability and actualy facing up to HIS shortcomings. you know it wasnt me guv, a big bad board man did it and ran away. don't blame me, no other rangers manager has had to put up with what i have blah blah...

He got unbelievable financial resources given to him for three successive promotions & has screwed up big time.

The ongoing sideshow throughout by the UoF, SoS & the usual suspects attacking the board diverted supporters attention from the sub-standard dross on the park which allowed Ally to escape much scrutiny.

Now these people are all crawling out the woodwork telling us they thought Ally should have been sacked long ago. I never heard them that's for sure

  9. Right - he has made his bed and he will have to lie in it. Nobody really wanted him to be chased out of Ibrox in the same way that John Greig was (although I admit to being far more saddened by what happened to Greig at the time. There was no talk of walking away with huge pay offs in John's day. McCoist will do just fine financially.

He played a hand over the last few days that I still haven't got my head around, but I think he wanted to create a stir and leave the board in an no-win situation, and the low key meeting today just backfired on him. They obviously sat with the minimum fuss and representation and said "OK Ally - resignation accepted. Now do you not have a job to do that we are paying you for? We're not paying you to sit in here.".

My prediction is that they know he is a dud as a manager. They know he will keep failing. They know the fans will turn on McCoist. They know he will carry the can for the failure on the park. And McCoist will walk when the fans "affect him and his family" as he has stated. Quite sad really but he has been the orchestrator of a lot of it in the past week.

This the guy who slaughtered Naismith, McGregor, Laffferty etc when they did not TUPE over to the newco as they went for more lucrative contracts elsewhere.

Now what's he doing? Lining his pockets with as much of our much-needed cash(by way of an undeserved but entitled rise) as he can before he departs his first and last football manager's job he'll ever get. He's been a dreadful Rangers manager. His signings have been mostly poor. The team is awful to watch. There's little or no evidence of tactics, a gameplan or any sort of preparation in any game I've seen. But I must be honest my biggest criticism of all is for the board for allowing this under-achiever to have spent so long as Rangers manager.

Why doesn't he give his pal Bain a call at Macabbi Tel Aviv and see if he can get him a job. Save us the bother and expense of enduring another 12months of dross in front of a empty stadium. Cheerio Ally. The sooner the better for us all.

  10. There must be no room for sentiment here. McCoist must leave tomorrow whatever it takes. As for McDowall and Durrant it will be for the new manager to decide whether they stay or go after he is appointed. Both may likely remain though until such an appointment is made. Maybe a new manager may wish to retain McDowall even if temporarily especially if he's from outside Scottish football but Durrant adds nothing of value for me.Unlikely he'll be kept on.

Change in the football management in Rangers is long overdue and nothing must impede that change. It is also imperative we get the best available candidate given our current situation so I'd maybe suggest advertising the vacancy and invite applicants. No more giving the job to someone just because he's a 'rangers man' . That to me is just nepotism.

  11. Interesting Rab.

We heard that GreenCo had paid for all the "assets" upon the oldco to newco transfer - seems BDO don't believe that necessarily included the players - this could get interesting though given GreenCo did pay football debts (with RFFF assistance of course)

If they do have a claim then surely it just proves it's the same club. The club is the link between oldco &newco

If it was a newco AND a new club then they'd have no claim whatsoever.

  12. Funding in an investment sense or just loans directly tied to onerous retail, marketing and advertising deals? So far all he seems to have provided for Rangers is the latter just like he's done at Newcastle.

As Ive said earlier he needs to explain his position. Interesting article just appeared in the Telegraph by Roddy Forsyth. Reckons Ashley could own Rangers within weeks
