Keith Jackson: Finances come before football at Tannadice...
RANGERRAB replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
'Thompson's track record at Dundee Utd is encouraging'. Maybe they should ask how he repaid that debt to the bank & on what terms. They are a club who seem to be constantly short of cash reserves for no particular reason. After all they do not seem to have any problems getting a buyer for any of their best players do they? They have become the yahoos feeder club. Rangers-hater Thompson voted Rangers out the SPL then set about reducing budgets with no cashcow Rangers in the top division. Months later this cost-cutting led to his well-respected manager Peter Houston quitting. His replacement Jackie McNamara has now gone too probably finding that the job was pretty much impossible Do Newcastle Jets knowwhat they're letting themselves in for? -
Mark Warburton: SPFL should extend the top-tier
RANGERRAB replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Scottish football has gone backwards since 10 clowns of chairmen voted us out of the then SPL. In time they may be brought to account for that decision which was based on a fictitious EBT tax bill. But the consequences of that decision are there for all to see. Since then it has been difficult to get sponsorships and a significantly better TV deal than the paltry one we've got. Until Rangers are back in the top division competing for the title Scottishfootball is meaningless in every sense. Whether the league is extended or not is irrelevant until then. -
Mark Warburton: Rangers not miles away from Celtic
RANGERRAB replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
If they've done that then that's one helluva gamble is it not? Don't forget too that Liewell said it was costing them £10m per season not having us in the top division with them. Consider that along with their much lower attendances and their CL money will be well eaten into I'd think. I also don't believe some of the transfer fees quoted for some of the players sold either. I think sell-on fees, signing-on fees, agents fees etc are often included. Does anyone seriously think Van DIjk quadrupled his value in Scottish football in two years in a top division which is a one horse race? And getting thumped in Europe? -
Since Rangers got voted out the then SPL, clubs have been cutting their budgets due to the reduced revenue. The effect of this has been that there is now not that much difference between 'bigger' clubs like Dundee Utd and Hibz and 'smaller' clubs like St Johnstone, Ross County & Inverness. Aberdeen are the main exception to this mainly I'd say due to the sterling job McInnes has done there During his time as Dundee Utd manager I've never viewed McNamara as anti-Rangers unlike his chairman. It will be interesting to see if McNamara has anything to say on his departure as getting the budget reduced was what caused his predecessor Peter Houston to quit. The job was perhaps much more difficult than he'd envisaged largely due to his chairman being part of the ant-Rangers crew who voted us out & didn't consider fully the consequences of that.

We will still need 3 or 4 quality players to put a serious challenge to the yahoos but that is by no means insurmountable -

Maybe they could find UEFA jobs for Rhegan & Dumbcaster too? -

If we can get ourselves a couple of 25 goals per season strikers then we will be more than ready to challenge the yahoos next season, assuming we're promoted of course. We must remember too that the yahoos are nowhere the side they were when we last played them in the old SPL 2011-12. Their best players have all since gone & they've had some spectacular failures trying to replace them. I also suspect there's a bit of mind games going on here too with MW trying to provoke some sort of reaction from them. -

Platini is the one I want to se gone. Too close to the yahoos for my liking. Who can forget those pictures of him and Reid at the Giro dome? -
Is this the Falkirk who got horsed 7-0 by Ross County last week? I wish I shared your confidence that hibz won't be a threat to us. They're a better side than you're suggesting IMO.. Just ask Aberdeen.
-
No one is saying we're going to win every game 5-0 but our performances over the past 2 or 3 games haven't been as good as they were right at the start of the season have they? Perhaps teams are getting wiser as to how we play or our lack of options upfront is becoming apparent.
-
Hibz will be 4th? Don't think so
-
Not a chance. They have turned things around since the start of the season. Did u know the last league goal they conceded was Tavernier's free kick at Ibrox? They will be right on our tails this season. We need to get out of the dip in form we're in at present
-
Anyone who doesn't think Hibz will run us close is deluding themselves. They'll be flying after their result on Wednesday.

At a time when Rangers had financial difficulties couldn't he simply have waived his entitlement after he left or rather 'ran away from the job' when he got found out as I'd say? Did he really need to collect £14k p.w. sitting at home doing nothing? If he really was a great Rangers man as many would suggest he could have played his part & waived it. He didn't. McCoist must have made millions out of Rangers as a player, assistant manager & manager. Not to mention a testimonial vs Newcastle in 1993. Was it too much to ask for him to play his part in our time of need? That salary he continued to take could have been better utilised elsewhere could it not? Perhaps spent on a striker to replace MIller & Boyd last season who were utterly hopeless? For me McCoist's name & reputation as a Rangers great have been damaged beyond repair.I've not even mentioned taking one million 1p shares or criticising Naismith, Lafferty etc for financially bettering themselves when he did likewise.

Are tickets still available? If so where can you get them?
-
We need a couple of decent forwards preferably with pace and physical strength who will work opponents defences a bit more than we saw tonight.
-
If we're to do anything in the SC we'll need 3 or 4 players in january for the positions which were shown tonight where we need better quality than what we've currently got
-
It's a common yahoo tactic - repeat a lie often enough and people will start to believe it.

Dunfermline sign former Rangers midfielder Rhys McCabe
RANGERRAB replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
This would be the danger of over-reliance on a youth set-up to provide first team players. It's only when they step out of their own age group they can really be assessed as to what level they might play at. The vast majority won't be able to reach the standard we'd like them to get to. This is where a proper scouting set up comes in. Do we have one in place yet? -
A lot more than just one I'd suggest EDITED for comp's inappropriate word usage
-
FWIW I'd like to see Oduwa getting a few goals. The lad has unquestionable talent. Just needs an end product to his game.
-
What John Greig & Jock Wallace got when they left Rangers was peanuts in comparison to what McCoist got
-
Just the Supreme Court. If they get allowed to which I doubt.
-
No surprise. All I want to know is who was behind all of this in the first place.

In what way we're entitled to come after us for £m's ? I'll say again the FTTT & UTTT verdicts suggest otherwise. What entitled them to send a bill for £24m ? Which tax laws were being broken in this EBT scheme which entitled them to do this? Please do elaborate and tell us. I fail to understand why you & others on here continue to defend HMRC. SDM may have gambled but HMRC gambled even more by sending us this bill. We need to know why.
