  1. We should have taken the chance to move from this tired relic of a stadium years ago.

Apparently our next chance is in 2020 when the SFA lease from Queens Park is up. Clearly it would cost tens of millions to build something fit for purpose but it's an opportunity we must take.

Can't see where that sort of money would come from

  2. Written by Mark McGivern. That should tell you all you need to know.

And if Rangers ,as expectedly, win their EBT appeal at the Supreme Court and the EBT scheme is proven to be legal tax avoidance how will HMRC claim any monies from these players ?

  3. The investigations don't have anything to do with Rangers not disclosing the EBT side letters to the SFA.

I was thinking more of the other punishments we got.

As for the EBT's they were in the annual accounts every year although I do think we mayend up having to pay this fine

  4. I can't see any of the lads who are out of contract given a new one.

As much as Bell, Law, Shiels, Templeton and Clark have contributed in patches, none have made a first team slot their own and the wages they earn means it would be much more agreeable to move them on. Obviously Ball and Zelalem will return to their parent clubs so that means seven players will effectively leave in the summer.

We've already signed Windass and Crooks so that leaves five positions to fill if the manager wants to keep the same squad numbers. You'd think Forrester may be another to get a new deal whilst re-signing Ball may be a sensible move as well. That takes us down to three players and certainly allows us a bit of financial flexibility if we're able to move the high earners above on.

I don't think Bell is out of contract.

  5. As a team we seem to play, mostly, as a better unit than the qualities of each player. However I think there is not one player that would get into our side that last won the top title, so therein tells you that our quality is not good enough. Thankfully our rivals have also weakened so the gap is not as big as it could have been.

I'm giving Wes, Tav, Waghorn, the benefit of the doubt, and I'm definitely keeping Wallace, Holt & McKay, so that leaves 5 new first team players that we need to bring in. I agree we don't need a clear out of epic proportions simply because our squad is so thin, but those who are never going to be good enough for next season are fairly easily identifiable- Wilson Miller Clark Shiels law bell Temps should all be moved on, but I don't think they all will leave.

    Would you not keep Forrester?

  6. Warburton was very successful with Brentford in the English Championship on a shoestring budget. They made the play-offs but were unsuccessful.

Remind me again, how did Yellow Teeth get on at Bolton ? A bigger club than Brentford presumably with more resources.

However as regards the SC semi we are playing against a team who have been in decline over the past four seasons. We have nothing to lose in this game and I sense they know this. If they lose what will they do ? Ditch Deila? Who will want their job then ? Keane didn't want it and many more too I suspect

  7. I'll get slaughtered for saying this but I think we've little alternative other than to pay this fine if rules were broken despite what LNS says.

The club continued when we went from oldco to newco and so the newco should accept its responsibility here.

  8. Today wasn't great but the job is almost done. We now have effectively one foot over the finishing line. Not getting promotion this season would have been unthinkable after last season.

We now have a group of players who know the job is almost done & I think it's beginning to show. We are still well short in 2 or 3 positions & the squad is still very light. I wouldn't expect any of the 3 players who came on as subs today(Law, Clark & Shiels) to be here next season. They will need replaced & we must hope their replacements are capable of making the step up which will be required for next season.

I hope we can get this finished as soon as possible so we can go into the Petrofac final & the SC semi against the yahoos without any unnecessary pressure. Then, whatever happens, rebuilding can begin for next season. We should be looking forward to it even if we're a season behind schedule

  9. Who makes him out to be a wonder manager? He isn't a great manager by any means but do you really think the squad we had was good enough to qualify for Euro 2016? Who would you rather have in charge? Until Scottish football is improved at a grassroots level, it seems rather irrelevant who the manager is. Whilst I've never been much of a fan, performances have improved considerably under Strachan and he does have EPL and some CL experience too. I would rather have him in charge than McLeish or some SPL dross.

Failing to get third in the Euro2016 qualifying group was a failure IMO.

  10. hmmmm, I don't know. McKay also played a part in his situation I think.

    Maybe he did.

But IMO McKay was fortunate to have survived ' project McCoist' whereas others weren't so lucky. Getting away from Rangers to less than glamarous surroundings such as Morton & Raith might not have seemed ideal at the time but I bet young Barrie looks back on this as a blessing now.

Season 2014-15 must go down as the worst ever in Rangers history and Barrie McKay should be grateful he had no part to play in it.

His progress since MW & DW came in has been there for all to see. His career is now back on track. He is now a vital player in Rangers first team squad who at 21 will only get better.

So much so that iif he keeps progressing that in a couple of years or so he'll probably be gone to the EPL or the likes. We should all sit back and appreciate his talent while we can

  11. McKay for both for this Bear

Every time you see McKay this season you can see why McCoist failed so miserably as Rangers manager.

FWIW I think we'll miss him on Saturday against against QOS if he's away with the Scotland U21 squad and we'll need to dig that bit deeper to get a result against a side we've often toiled against these past two seasons

  12. Meaningless result. The games that mattered were the Euro 2016 qualifiers where we couldnt even finish third.

I still want to see Scotland do well but have resigned myself to the fact that wont happen until the excessive yahoo influence at the SFA is curtailed in some way. Wee Chesney is not the wonder manager many make him out to be either.
