As much as I've been critical of Halliday over the last few games -- control, awareness etc all been poor -- I don't see him being dropped. He is OK, just not brilliant in that DM role. I'm not sure who we would replace him with? Rossiter and Barton were both bought to play that role, but neither have worked so we'll need to make do with Halliday for now.
The whole squad needs improved and upgraded. It is average, but to be fair we've done well with an average squad. Unfortunately, it's going to take more than a window or two to upgrade it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but going into the season both Barton and Rossiter looked like very good upgrades. It just wasn't to be.
Halliday's problem now is that his confidence seems to have gone. He was ok in that role last season in the championship but up a level he's struggling and it's beginning to show big time

If MW & DW are bold & brave today in their team selection we can win comfortably. That means no Kiernan, Miller or Halliday following Wednesday. If Halliday is to play put him in his proper position which isn't defensive MF
I would play Forrester because he is a goal threat along with Hyndman. & probably Toral and Dodoo up front in place of Miller.
Put waghorn on one flank & McKay on the other. And I'd genuinely be tempted to put Senderos in at CB alongside Hill to see what he's like.

Strange comment from our manager yesterday in the mail , we're second why should I feel the strain it cant be acceptable for a Rangers manager or board to accept second prizes .
Looking at our board member sitting in the stand on Wednesday they were far from happy .
Under normal circumstances second wouldn't be acceptable but these are not normal circumstances at the moment

Not good enough from hertz IMO.
People with invalid tickets shouldn't be able to enter the stadium.
Will RHegan's SFA or Dumbcaster's SPFL investigate this fiasco?

Reading some of these posts, where do some of us think we'd be just now if McCoist hadn't quit?
Sitting second top ? Doubt it somehow.
I've said before I think expectation levels were too high at the start of the season amongst some of our support but that doesn't excuse some of the poor signings made in the summer. We cannot again sign so many players in one transfer window with so many failures.
Quite frankly if we finish top three for a EL spot then I think that's the best we can hope for this season. Maybe the SC too. But until we can move out four or five from the first team squad & bring in better quality (maybe even loanees)little is going to change at the moment

Mark Warburtons answer to those asking about the Hyndman substitution.
The Rangers boss said: “He is 20 years old, hasn’t played many 90 minutes and on Saturday he played an outstanding 90 minutes. He is a young, precocious talent and Saturday took a lot out of him. “The pitch out there is so heavy. We’ve got a responsibility to his parent club. We have got to look after their asset.”

I would rather see us playing our own U20s, than have a Rangers Manager saying this.
our u20's are awful

I think you always need to remember the absolute train wreck MW and DW inherited from McCoist 18 months ago but his signings last summer simply haven't been good enough.
That and their blind faith in the likes of Kenny Miller(just 6 league goals) is something that will cost him sooner or later unless he changes.
Whether we like it or not we were never winning the title this season but I genuinely believe our progress has stalled and questions need to be asked how we get it going again.
I'm still utterly shocked at tonight's result. I don't think any of us ever saw that coming but we can only hope we get top three and a EL spot and maybe hope for the best in the SC.
But without wholesale changes in the summer we will not challenge for the title next season.

No I don't think he does
this Rangers side have been serving up garbage since the cup semi
the signing policy is woeful, injured teenage punts or over the hill duds - he's already talking about offering miller and hill MORE games.
the lowest goals to games ratio in our history
getting on for 2 goals a game away from home this season
can't win an away game against anyone in the top 5??
we pretty much have our aim of top 3/4 for EL Qualification for next season but keep playing like this and he'll be gone probably after the piggery.
At the start of the season we needed three top priority signings -a quality CB, a defensive MF player to replace Halliday in that role and a goal scorer with a proven record & a physical presence to play the system we play.
We got none of them

Trust me,he aint the answer to anything. He will make things worse,if thats possible.
Without seeing him play I cannot say. He was another last minute panic signing before the transfer window shut
0 -
He should not have signed senderos either. His lack of ability proves that.
To be fair he hasn't been given a chance has he? Watching Kiernan at the first goal tonight he must wonder why
Senderos was always going to need a run of games. He never got that

Fair play to MW he apologised for that utter trash that was served up
Does he know how to resolve this ? I certainly hope so
Certain players have been making mistakes all season. What happened tonight was they didn't get away with it. Hearts first two goals were embarrassing

Should he have got himself into the position where a "panic" signing had to be made?He must have known the market we were operating in,it isnt good enough.
He shouldn't have signed Garner. His lack of goals prove that

I've never been so frustrated as a Rangers supporter. The reason I say this is because when we play football we really can play some fantastic stuff (some of the best since Advocaat) yet we can be on the receiving end of results like tonight and have no real complaints.
But we make too many basic mistakes as was shown at their first two goals tonight

The money we spent was huge given our current state. 3 goals in 19 games and he's a striker. He's almost 29 and has only ever had a couple of good goal returns, playing in the lower leagues. Nothing about this transfer made sense.
It was a panic signing as the transfer window was about to shut.

We simply collapsed after their second goal tonight. That's what's most worrying of all

Some of those players haven't had a team since September though.... so you would like to think that the chance of playing in front of 50k every other week, even at, say, 10k per week wages - would be something of interest.
Absolutely not. These are players who are well past their best. We've been there this season with Barton & Senderos

How many big games have we bottled in the last two seasons. Warburton should have walked after the Cup Final. Lost twice to Hibs lost twice to Falkirk. Lost the Cup Final. Lost twice at Tynecastle - hammered at Parkhead. Not good enough. Nowhere near good enough
He has under estimated the top division IMO.

Never thought I would say this but I think Warburtons time is up.
He'll get to the end of the season. I'm sure of that.
I started to wonder about him when players were getting new contracts before we were even in the top division.
Did he under-rate Scottish football ? Like PLG did

Nothing against Halliday but I'm genuinely shocked to still see him playing in defensive MF.

I don't think we can make long term decisions about a manager on a single game while we're still sitting second in the league and still looking good for a Euro spot.
That said 3 out of the 4 hearts goals were appalling errors. No team wins games if you don't do the basics right.
And I'm sorry to disappoint the Kenny Miller fan club but we need someone with a strong physical presence up front. He was non existent tonight.

Until we cut out stupid mistakes & get better players up front we will continue to struggle.

Al in all I'm reasonably pleased with our transfer business this month. We needed reinforcements in MF due to injuries & Barton leaving. Both look decent & should play their part for the rest of the season.
We got in a GK because presumably Gilks wanted first team football
We're in reasonably good shape to get a EL spot but we really must look at up front for the future. We need more goals. We've only once scored more than 2 in a league game this season.Kenny Miller is now 37 and has 6 league goals & 2 SC goals to his name this season. Nothing much to get excited about I wouldn't have thought which is why we must move players out in the summer & bring a striker above all else who can get 20-25 goals. Do that & we'll be challenging for the title

Our biggest headache will be our coefficient points , it's very likely we will get a stinker of a draw somewhere along the way
We were something 267th in the UEFA seedings last I looked

Yes welcome to Rangers Jak.
Presumably 'the source' was misinformed who advised the Daily Rhecord that the transfer payment terms were unacceptable to Port Vale

3-0 down at HT ? We made plenty first half chances too. More than them. As per usual didn't take them
