I wish people would let go of that notion. I think if you were to go through the archives of this forum you would get a surprise as to how long we have been saying it and how frequently we have had to. On the back of one performance? Oh how I wish to God it was!
-
Do you? I will go away and try....give me a minute.........................nope, sorry I tried and you know what I still believe Ally is spouting porkies. The league is already won - yes? He vehemently denied (he protesteth too much) afterwards that the record meant anything to him - yes? His main concern was the "lack of fluency in the play" - yes? Oh Ally - will you zip me up the back please and tuck in the foam while you are at it? Why did you deploy that tactic (much to the obvious dismay of your players)? I don't remember many examples of 'fluency' when 3 men have been playing ring-a-roses round the ball at a corner flag. Do you know the only times I've seen that tactic deployed? When there were pretty high stakes at play, and the fans will take a win at all costs. What about the poor fans who stayed until the bitter end hoping for one final bit of entertainment? Do you think they stayed to watch you run down the clock? Give me a break.

Are you serious? Stranraer at Ibrox when the league is already won? This is Rangers we are talking about here. You and I must have different standards and expectations. Unless of course he was so desperate to protect the record he so vehemently denied caring about. He said he was mostly concerned with the manner of the play - "No fluency to the play". Fuck me Ally - what fluency comes with sending 3 men into a corner flag to protect a ball? Methinks you are telling porkies Ally. Save me the 'Ally' blasphemy crap - please!!! 'This is Super Ally and his name shall never be taken in vain'. If you find those comments extremely offensive to the point I need to "have a look at myself" then I think it's you who has been hanging around too long with those "Valley girls from the wealthiest LA suburbs" that you brought into the discussion in post #32.

Ally - much to the dismay of your players you ordered them into the corner flag in the last minute of the game to try to run down time. We lost possession almost instantly (which that tactic deserves. I've always detested it!) - they ran up the park and scored. I can appreciate it was the semi final of the cup and so much was at stake...no wait a minute.....it was Rangers at home to Stranraer in a league match (a league already won by a mile) and the brave fans who stayed on did so in the hope of one more bit of entertainment. Hang your head in shame Ally for that embarrassing tactic. I believe you are also a liar. You used that tactic because the record meant so much to you that you would use any tactic to get there. Shame on you!

What about McCoist's teams 'not showing up' so frequently over the years despite constantly changing personnel? One of the key things you look for in troubleshooting anything that is broken - look for a common denominator.
-
That worries me. No disrespect mate as you are entitled to your opinion. But my whole life as a Rangers supporter has always been about what the 11 men in the famous royal blue were doing on the park. In all those barren years with the lowest crowds we ever had, I went and could choose to park my arse anywhere in the old Centenery Stand because hardly a soul was there. But we still celebrated the odd win like it was a cup final. I don't remember anybody ever talking about the 'board' back then or talking 'commercial' stuff. It was all about the 11 men in blue (and sometimes the manager). Changed days indeed.

I can remember a time when people were able to work out the common denominator after years of the same excuses aimed at completely different sets of players each time. I can remember a time when our fans weren't as blinded and gullible.

This isn't a recent trend. We are often crap and infrequently good. The underlying issue is the 3 amigos don't cut the mustard and have outlived their sell by date. No other club would have stood for it and I mean none!

He certainly doesn't bring promise for the future. We get one 'acceptable' performance in every 5 or 6, and that is spanning years. It's consistent dross with the odd good day thrown in rather than the other way round. How can any manager last so long on a salary so high yet deliver acceptability so infrequently? I think the answer lies in the fact that since Murray no man has been at the helm long enough to take the bold step. They come in fearing that they will suffer a backlash if they threaten Ally too quickly, and then they are gone. I think Wallace will be different.

Let me ask those still standing up for the manager. Did you ever think you would see the day that a Rangers manager would ask his team to try to see the game out at the corner flag in the last minute at home to Stranraer (and then lose possession in the process which lead to the goal FFS)? Did you see Little's face looking at the dugout as the instruction came across? "Are you fucking serious?????". That was the last straw for me. An utterly embarrassing move. If a boxer beats 22 'amateurs' in row but is obviously not fit to take on a decent pro, does that make him a good fighter (with a good manager)? Does it feck!! Save us the silly statistic that he has won 22 games in Div 1 or whatever it is. Stats are all relative. That stat is complete Jack Shit! Oh and don't forget, with all the talk of trimming the bill, this tactical genius has just agreed to 'get by' (bless him) on just under half a million quid a year rather than the 800K previously pocketed. Can anyone tell me what Ally brings that no other manager would or could?

Sorry that is the last straw for me with McCoist. He ordered 3 players into the corner to try to keep the ball in the corner flag. Rangers at Ibrox against Stranraer FFS Did you see Little's face - "are we seriously so desperate gaffer that we need to revert to that?". We lose the ball instantly when his master plan breaks down. They run up the park and score. Sorry Ally - I've had it with you as a manager mate. No more!!

Jon Daly’s Ibrox regret fuels appetite for goals
Anchorman replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I will be very sad to see him leave if the cuts lead to that. I was delighted when he signed and he hasn't disappointed. Even when he wasn't scoring his contribution in holding up the ball to bring other into play etc was excellent. Big intelligent centre forwards with clever feet don't come by too often, and the big man fits into that category. He has already proved that he can destroy any defence in the SPL, and will do so again given the chance. -
Could you not have said that in the first place and avoided me going off on one?
-
OK, maybe I was suggesting a united stance rather than a solution, but I feel you are splitting hairs a bit there. "If Wallace is remotely like the person he has been portrayed to us then it would take nowhere near 120 days to lay out his version of the road ahead" Unless, he has been placed as a stooge, which was the point of my original post. We have the choice to stand back and watch that being proved right, or let it be known that we suspect that might be the case, and are willing as a support to 'unite' and do something about it if it proves to be true.
-
Well let me put it another way - we all recognise the potential for that scenario, but what if each and every one of us took the same approach? It gets frustrating when someone takes the time to offer up a solution and all he gets back are negative one liners that offer nothing constructive.
-
“He'll be gone in a year. Don't get sucked in. The only people involved at the club are here to bleed it dry” Post #10 – you agreed with that “119 days and counting!” – Post #12 - your post “Wallace isn't here to unify the fans he's here to buy time - 118 days and counting.” - Post #38 - your post It's hardly positive mate is it?
-
We all have the same realism as you. Nobody is in denial about the situation. But thankfully we won't all throw in the towel and start counting down the days until 'doomsday'. If that is what you choose to do then feel free (but don't expect as all to give up that easily)....119. 118...(you can take over from there. I believe you know the words).
-
Sorry, but what a shower of defeatist negative bar stewards we have in our support these days!! Makes me fucking despair.
-
As helpful as an ashtray on a fucking motorbike! It says that on which post of this thread?
-
Fair enough. Although I disagree with you, you are the only one to directly respond to the points made in my original post in a constructive manner, and I respect your opinion. I thought the support for Wallace was across the board. Your post proves I was wrong. I thought he would be given time to prove himself - I was wrong again. I don't know what can unite this support and I will leave it to others with better ideas.
