  1. I honestly couldn't even try to wind up any Dhims I know with talk of a 'treble'. The league one championship and the wee cup sponsored by a 'chippie' is not wind up material I'm afraid. If the shoe was on the other foot I would love one of them to try to wind me up with the same boast. I would have so much material to bring them down I would have a field day. However the Scottish Cup is an entirely different story. This story will have world wide interest. 'The Team That Refused To Die' rising from the ashes after only two years to possibly win the cup at the home of their most hated enemy. The stuff of fantasy. Fate likes that kind of stuff and maybe fate is in control here. One can but dream.
  2. I think you will find that most internet users don't. You obviously think that your points get across better when finished off with your 'side splitters' so as I'm no match I will leave you to it. "Scotland' Real Madrid" - this 'exaggeration for comedic effect' thing - don't give up the day job mate.
  3. I don't see anyone saying Aberdeen are the invincibles. The truth of the matter is they are the most improved side in Scotland - by far. They have adopted a style of play that can hurt the best teams when they are up for it. We showed last season against ICT (0-3) that we didn't know how to handle those tactics, and I'm not sure we have improved sufficiently since in defence. They ripped the best defence in the country to shreds yesterday. That's all people are saying - the "invincibles" bit is a bit of poetic license you have chosen to indulge in.
  4. Yes I can imagine - "Welcome to the biggest and best lads. Enjoy your stay. Oh and remember to wipe your feet on the way out".
  5. Sorry but I thought the thread was about whether we should or shouldn't be second favourites for the cup. It then moved on a stage because of yesterday's results. It became a constructive discussion on why we possibly will\won't win the cup. It is generally agreed amongst a huge element of the support that our manager is not the best. So I don't see why you expect the thread not to discuss his short comings when the subject is key to answering the question in the OP.
  6. I think the reason we probably wont is that we haven't really progressed too much over the last two years, especially defensively. Our lack of defensive resources will get exposed in a big way I think, and Ally doesn't have the tactical savvy to protect the defence against better teams. I have to say (although I hate to) McInnes has improved Aberdeen beyond belief. His team have the ability to rip us to shreds due to their speed going forward, the number of bodies that get forward, and their overall tactics this season. They really enjoy hitting on the break with numbers so Ibrox would not phase them in the slightest. I think we need them and Dundee Utd to draw each other. What I will say is that if we got them in the final, the euphoria and global interest it would create could lead to an atmosphere that would possibly carry us to levels we can't even forecast at this stage. So who knows.
  7. Can you imagine how this film could turn out if we reach the Cup Final at Breezeblock Boulevard (with some luck in the draw)? What a scene it would be!!! I would love to see Peter Liewell's face. Oh the irony!
  8. I still think we need the SPL sides to cancel each other out in the next round e.g. Aberdeen to draw Dun Utd etc. We still need the luck of the draw. I'm still thrilled to bits today watching Lawell's corrupt plan crumble before his eyes. Two cup finals 'rigged' for Breezeblock Boulevard and his green and grey 'foot soldiers' couldn't bring it home on either occasion. Fucking fantastic! Can you imagine the supreme irony (and Karma) if we get to the final and their midden is bouncing under the feet of the red, white and blue?
  9. For anyone interested - the production company will be releasing a trailer for this very soon so it should give a bit of an insight into the flavour of it. Also the guys I have spoken to who have met the crew and been interviewed etc have had nothing but positive things to say about the film crew\producer\researchers etc. Apparently the company have approached it whole heartedly to put the support in a very favourable light. No sign of 'trip wire' questions etc. All positive. Maybe we will have a screening to be proud of after all.
  10. Durham loves winding them up. After they got humped big style by Barcelona reserves - the topic of his phone in the next day included "What is the point of Celtic? Are they a waste of time in the Champions League?" A complete wind up (he dislikes Lennon big style).
  11. It's like one of those ads on TV that runs for about 5 mins and you have no idea what they are advertising. Although at least the ads tell you in the end
  12. For all I think these different factions and all that shit is a bit petty, the statement made by TBO in the OP is very well represented and diplomatic IMHO. Rangers board - take note.
  13. If they do co-ordinate in their singing it has got to be infectious for those in between. It has the potential for quite a raucous Broomloan Front.
  14. OK so he didn't actually leave any earlier than he intended to at all. That bit is complete fabrication. Why let the truth get in the way? Quote - “Neil left with about 20 minutes to go which most managers tend to do when they are on scouting missions. But the attacks on him meant he was not hanging about longer than he had to.” No police report. No arrests. He did not leave early. No story.
  15. Hilarious - only the BBC (well maybe not only). Poor Neil must have been traumatised while sitting in the main stand remembering that he once was attacked (and was so terrified that he sunk a boot into his assailant while he was on the deck!) in that same technical area. Nobody does victim like the vicTIMS.
  16. He is right on one count - he has signed.
  17. The old man wasn't any shrinking violet when it came to showing his colours round Uddingston way. http://jadynyates.wordpress.com/2009/12/27/bill-mcmurdo-was-born-in-edinburghs-niddrie/
  18. You can't compare the times though mate. Who knows what Greig would have received had we had the digital age\internet\progress?\the age where you can destroy someones life from a grotty little room and a laptop?
  19. In Greig's final season a few hundred wandered round to the front of the main entrance to hurl dog's abuse about Greig. I remember looking at their ages and thinking "none of you would ever have seen what this man gave in a blue jersey" and it made me so angry (not angry enough to throw a puffy crisp right enough). John Greig's domestic results weren't great but his European nights were among the very best this Club has ever had. Being the first team to beat PSV in the Phillips Arena (courtesy of a majestic display from that man under Andy Steel's name - Mr Bobby Russell - if footballers were musical instruments Bobby would be a finely tuned harp), beating Juventus (with most of the Italy team in their side, and they were not amused). I hated seeing John Greig get abuse and was very pleased that common sense saw him take his pride of place back at the Club as the Greatest Ranger Ever. He should be back there.
  20. Read my comment again for clarity The comment about 'sheep' is one I stick by, purely because of what I've experienced on other forums, whether it's Mark Dingwall or Chris Graham. There is a clear 'sheep' mentality among many that once someone becomes an easy target the 'sheep' join in and want a 'kick'. A bit like what happened to our Club, which is why I despise that mentality. You were not being called a sheep, but you chose to selectively take that bit out of my response. You could easily fall into the category of 'having a valid reason' as stated above. However the reason you have given for disliking CG comes nowhere near justifying what you called him, so your feelings seem to run deeper than that, but you are welcome to them, as long as we are not subjected to them on here. Oh and by the way, I'm not a fan of Ally at all as a manager, and there are sections of Chris' article that I don't wholly agree with.
  21. It's not so much the word mate 'cos I think Spiers is a wanker. It's more that fact that it is a fellow bluenose who happens to be well respected by a number of people on here. You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't happen to share the opinion above.
