  2. Message Of Support Written by Rangers Football Club FOLLOWING todayâ??s Independent Panel Report Rangers Football Club would like to send its support to the families who lost loved ones and everyone affected by the Hillsborough Disaster on April 15, 1989. Rangers Chief Executive Charles Green said: â??On this significant day our thoughts are with the families of the 96 people who lost their lives, the survivors and the Liverpool supporters. â??It is completely unimaginable that 96 people could attend a football match and never return home and I know the Rangers family feel the same following the loss of 66 Rangers supporters who lost their lives in the 1971 Ibrox Disaster. â??Rangers and Liverpool fans have a strong bond as they have united to commemorate the tragedies that have sadly marked the history of both clubs. "We hope the independent report released today will help to bring some level of comfort now the truth about what happened that terrible day 23 years ago is known.â?

  4. posted 2 yrs ago on RM HOSG=Mr Martin Time: Approx 5.45pm - 6.00pm or thereabouts. Location: My 'pitch' opposite the JG statue. In attendance: Yours truly, two Bears of my acquaintance from Norn'Iron, one of whom was holding aloft two match tickets he was trying to move on. Oh.............and a Rangers programme seller not more than 10-feet from me. The place was quite deserted save a few groups of hospitality bods wandering hither and yonder waiting for friends to arrive before they headed for the pre-match swally, when I noticed this tall figure approach - club tie, smart jacket and a 'UEFA' plastic badge visible on his person. Thinking this might be one of the hob-knobs looking for a zine I turned to offer same when he spoke. HOSG (Head of Security guy): "Eh......we'd like you to move!" Me: Pardon? HOSG: We'd like you to move away from the statue. Me: Why? HOSG: Just because we would. People congregate here and so on. Me: Excuse me......but who are you? HOSG: I'm the Club's Head Of Security. Me: Is that right? And why, pray tell, would I want to move when I've been stood here for at least 16-years or more on the same spot. When your predecessor didn't ask me to move, nor the guy before him....in fact, I've been here long before the statue (memorial) was put in place? I'm breaking no Law, creating no disturbance. I'm not on Rangers' property and I notice there's a programme seller (with a metal box) who is even closer to the statue you're speaking about. HOSG: I don't know about that, but you could move down a bit. Me: Could I? And how far down are we talking? HOSG: Look..........I'm politely asking you to move. Me: Thanks for the offer, but I'm POLITELY declining your offer. HOSG: (Now looking for some reason to 'get' somebody) Right! We'll see about that. You'll be hearing more about this. Me: Is that a threat? HOSG: He doesn't answer this last one and, looking flustered he steps two paces to my right and harasses the Norn'Iron Bear trying to move on match tickets. He ended up taking the guy's name, etc. The Norn'Iron Bear stood his ground and after the HOSG (he never did utter his name) left the scene we all three decided this guy is a useless jobsworth fud. A Champions League night in Glasgow when visiting Turkish fans are in town. With the reputation 'some' Turkish clubs' fans have you would think the Rangers HOSG (Mr No-Name) would have more things to be concerning himself with. My letter to Ibrox will reflect that
  5. Independent Commission Preliminary Hearing The Commission has considered all the preliminary issues raised in the list submitted by Newco and points raised in letters from solicitors acting for Newco and for Oldco. It has decided: 1. The Commission will proceed with its inquiry in the terms of the Notice of Commission and will now set a date for a hearing and give directions. 2. Oldco and Rangers FC, who are named in the Issues contained in the Notice of Commission and alleged to have been in breach of SPL rules, will continue to have the right to appear and be represented at all hearings of the Commission and to make such submissions as they think fit. 3. Newco, as the current owner and operator of Rangers FC, although not alleged by the SPL to have committed any breach of SPL Rules, will also have the right to appear and be represented at all hearings of the Commission and to make such submissions as it thinks fit. 4. Written reasons for this decision will be made available in due course. Further to the decision made today the Commission make the following procedural orders: 1. We set a date for a hearing to commence on Tuesday 13 November 2012 with continuations from day to day as may be required until Friday 16 November 2012. 7. from FF Union Bears Statement It is with great disappointment that we must inform the 500+ fans on our BF1 transfer waiting list that Rangers have decided to block our proposed move and expansion into the central sections of the Broomloan Front. Despite positive discussions at the start of the season with the Ticket Office in which they said it wouldn't be a problem for them to accommodate this, it has now become clear that the Head of Security, David Martin, is not going to allow the move to happen. This was confirmed this week in a meeting in which he outlined his reasoning behind this decision. Put simply, he believes that the behaviour of supporters in BF1 is not in the best interests of Rangers Football Club and often breaks numerous ground regulations. He believes that an expanded section will see an increase in this "behaviour" and will become uncontrollable. We, of course, pressed him on what he believed these instances of bad behaviour were, but apart from the crowd surfing (something which is enjoyed by the majority of fans) he refused to name any others. It seems that supporting the team for 90 minutes at Ibrox is against the rules. Mr Martin and Strathclyde Police have also decided to pin sectarian singing at away games firmly on the Union Bears and Blue Order, despite no sectarian songs ever being sung in BF1. It seems that investigation has gone out the window, and the powers at be have decided to pick on the most vocal sections of the support and are hoping for the best. This was another reason given for not allowing us our section move and expansion. Every week supporters in section BF1 are subjected to full body searches at turntyles, every flag and banner being filmed before being allowed entry, intimidation inside and outside the stadium from stewards and Police as well as being filmed for 90 minutes by the anti-football unit of the police whilst individuals inside the club give details of our members to Police to add to their intelligence database. All this for daring to turn up and support our team. Recently, supporters in section BF1 have also been told by Police to hold their season ticket up to a camera and state their name and address. Mr Martin didn't see any issue with this and assumes it's all in the interest of pursuing criminal investigations. This is of course is absolute nonsense. As David Martin interestingly informed us this week, there is more arrests and evictions in other areas of the stadium on a match day than in Section BF1. It's blatant intimidation of football supporters. Despite all of this, our aim of expanding the section remains the same. The vocal fan scene at Rangers is growing bigger with every game. More and more supporters want to stand up, sing, bounce and enjoy themselves at football matches all the while providing unstinting backing to the Rangers team on the pitch. Over the coming weeks we hope to have meetings with the various supporter groups, and hopefully plans can be formed for those on our waiting list to get involved next season. Once again, we apologise to all those on the waiting list but this is outwith our control. We need the support of the Rangers fans as we fight against intimidation and prejudice from inside our own club and beyond. Rest assured we're going nowhere, we'll be back louder and more vociferous in our support than ever before. Union Bears No Surrender.
  8. Annan Res 0-1 Rangers Res Written by Andrew Dickson RANGERS got their Reserve League campaign underway with a win as Callum Gallagher’s strike gave them a single-goal win at Annan. The away team was in control for much of the match and had a host of chances before the break in particular to succeed by a greater margin. In the end coach Tommy Wilson had to settle for the narrow victory and his team did at least give him something to build upon. The visitors lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Kyle Hutton deployed in a deep midfield role and new signing Francesco Stella on the left flank. There were other first-teamers involved too including Kamil Wiktorski, Kal Naismith and Robbie Crawford, who signed a new long-term deal with Gers earlier in the day. Stella had the first opportunity in the first few minutes when he made space for himself in the area to shoot from an unlikely angle and his effort whistle just past the far post. At the other end, home forward Ally Barnes took advantage of a mistake in the Light Blues defence to home in on Scott Gallacher but he drove wide. Back came Gers and Hutton tried his luck from distance but he never caught his effort well enough and it was always running well off target. The game was swinging from end to end and once more Athletic responded well but again the shooting was wayward as Ally Love shot over the crossbar. Determined to make up for his earlier discrepancy, Hutton was eager to try his luck again and did so from a similar range. But once the 21-year-old he couldn’t put the direction he wanted to on his attempt and it remained 0-0. Rangers were enjoying plenty of possession and seemed to settle fairly well on the artificial surface the first team will play on this weekend. And their perseverance was rewarded midway through the first half when they took a deserved lead with a really well-worked goal. Having failed to score himself, Hutton turned provider instead with an excellent pass between two players for Crawford to race on to. He could have taken the chance on himself but with keeper Craig Summersgill closing him out, he passed instead for Gallagher to tap in. Crawford nearly made it two seconds later when he was set up in a similar area by Fraser Aird but this time he was blocked. The more the first period wore on, the more chances the Ibrox men had to add to their lead which they failed to take. Stella was twice guilty of finding himself in on goal only to hold up and try to supply for someone else when he should have had a go. Jordan Wilson was denied on the line, Luca Gasparotto drilled into the side netting and Naismith drove straight at Summersgill then headed wide. The away side made a couple of changes to their line-up after the restart as Wiktorski and Stella were replaced by youngsters Gregor Fotheringham and Jamie Mills. Nevertheless, they continued to dominate much of the game and although Annan tried to get back into the game, most of their attempts were from outside the area and harmless. Chances were much less frequent in general as a combination of Athletic showing up better and Gers taking their foot off the gas led to a more even contest. Substitute Mills had a really good opportunity to double the advantage as time began to run out but his shot lacked power and was smothered. Gallagher could also have grabbed his second but he bent too far beyond the post then Mills missed again moments from the end, meaning it finished 1-0. RANGERS: Gallacher; Aird, Gasparotto, McAusland, Wilson; Wiktorski (Fotheringham 51), Hutton; Naismith, Crawford, Stella (Mills 58); Gallagher.
  9. Rab Boyle‏@RFC_Rab Wonder if we should be referring to the Rangers reserve side as the 'Swifts'? Thoughts? Rab Boyle‏@RFC_Rab Positive response. For those of you asking, the Rangers 'Swifts' was the common name of our reserve side - Scotland's most successful too! 14. WITH the demand for Forres Mechanics versus Rangers tickets building up to boiling point, the "Gazette" exclusively reveals purchasing details in todays issue. Gazette backing the Cans all through the seasonMechanics chairman, Dr James Anderson, is to further raise the profile of the club tomorrow, first by filming part of an episode of Sky 1â??s Saturday morning television show â??Soccer AMâ??, then, by attempting to increase Mosset Parkâ??s capacity during a crunch-meeting with Moray Council. "I got a call asking if weâ??d like the forthcoming tie to feature in Soccer AM and if Sky could film myself and some of the players," said Dr Anderson. "Of course I said "yes" so the Forres boys in the team - Ross (Chucky) Macpherson, Matty Davidson, Simon Allan, Mathew Fraser, Steven Fraser - and myself are meeting with them tomorrow. Iâ??m not of the age group that watches the programme so Iâ??ll just have to see what transpires. Iâ??ve to wear a kilt anyway and Chucky and Matty are all grins." After the fun and games to be televised in the near future, Dr Anderson will get down to the serious business of increasing the availability of tickets for the forthcoming Scottish Cup tie with Rangers to supply the massive demand. "After the filming with Soccer AM I have a meeting with Moray Council and Iâ??m looking to get the capacity increased by 1000," he said. "Even 2500 would be a modest request. We will have a look at the ground together rather than via email and discussion over the phone." Forres Mechanics have had ongoing discussions with Moray Council and Grampian Police about the impact of such a high profile match in the town and, in particular, the expected influx of Rangers fans on the day. "The police will also be present on Wednesday," confirmed Dr Anderson. "I have had several discussions with them so far - they have been very accommodating and are happy with the general plan we are putting in place. I believe that safety would be enhanced if the supporters are inside the ground rather than large numbers of disappointed and frustrated individuals looking over the wall at empty spaces inside." He confirmed that the police are aware of the potential difficulties that may arise as a result of the expected away support on arrival, in particular the dangers of the bypass. "There may be further speed restrictions placed on the day. The last thing anyone wants is rows of people at the roadside. Any further alterations are dependent on ongoing discussions." Dr Anderson said that there are no significant alterations planned for Mosset Park itself but that the supporters will be cordoned off. Rangers fans will be designated the east end of the ground, entering from Bogton Road. He was adamant that the match would be played in Forres after calls from some supporters to move the game to a larger venue to maximise the potential revenue for the club. "Itâ??s going to be very much a Forres day. To play the game elsewhere would mean losing the romantic impact and its an opportunity for the club to create a piece of history. It also improves our chances by playing on home ground. An ideal result would be a draw on the 29th, a win at Ibrox then bring on the Celtic ... but we are playing for a win." Having recently returned from a Mediterranean cruise, Dr Anderson has been thrilled by the attention the tie has been bringing to Forres throughout the UK. "The most impressive aspect is the interest that the local community is expressing, supporters or not but I have had a registered delivery from Glasgow with a fiver and three lottery tickets enclosed requesting a programme, club badge and match ticket. While I was away a lady on the cruise overheard me say I was from Forres and asked if I knew anything about Mechanics. She said her father was chairman of Liverpool FC during the Shankly era. She was from the Isle of Man but knew of Forres because of the match and the townâ??s performances in Britain in Bloom."
  15. Nine Scottish Premier League clubs, and Rangers, have received a slice of a 100m payout by UEFA for their contributions to Euro 2012. Celtic will receive the most, 568,226 (£453,325), after having both Mikael Lustig and Georgios Samaras involved in the final tournament. Rangers meanwhile will receive the second highest payment, netting 339,623 (£270,948). Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts, Inverness CT, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Ross County and St Johnstone have also profited, as UEFA rewards clubs for releasing players to feature in both the qualifying and final stages of the European Championships. The solidarity payments were made to 575 European clubs, in conjunction with European Club Association. For the qualifying rounds, if a club had a player who was involved in a country's match day squad for eight matches, they will receive 5,241. For national teams which played ten qualifiers, 4,192 is paid out per player and 3,494 is being given if a nation played up to 12 qualifying matches. For the final tournament, played in Poland and Ukraine in the summer, clubs were rewarded on a per player, per day basis. Scottish clubs received 4,530 on that basis for players who were in a Euro 2012 squad. Michel Platini, President of UEFA, said: "I am delighted that we are able to provide clubs with financial benefits from UEFA EURO 2012 to reward their contribution to the competition. "We witnessed a truly fantastic UEFA European Football Championship final round this summer, and I am pleased that the clubs can now also be associated with the event." 16. Wednesday, 29 February 2012 11:45 Andrew Dickson Written by Rangers Football Club AS Rangers' head of football administration, Andrew Dickson is a key member of the executive team on the business side of the club. He first joined the Light Blues in 1991 as a qualified chartered accountant and became financial controller in 2001. It wasn't long before he was promoted again though and Dickson has occupied his current position since 2003. His day-to-day role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including football finance at first-team and academy levels and player contracts. Dickson is also the main point of contact concerning football rules and regulations governing the administration of the game. A director of Rangers Youth Development, he acts both on behalf of the club and the SPL on a number of external committees too. Dickson is the SPL member club representative on the SFA General Purpose Committee and the association's Professional Football Committee. He is also the club's representative for the Glasgow FA and is a former member of the SFA's Disciplinary Committee. In addition, Dickson is Rangers' liaison with UEFA for organisational aspects of European fixtures such as Champions League matches. http://www.rangers.co.uk/teams/backroom-staff/item/462-andrew-dickson

  18. PAUL CLARK, of Duff and Phelps, joint administrators of RFC 2012 PLC (formerly The Rangers Football Club plc), issued the following statement today: “I can confirm that the business and certain assets of RFC 2012 PLC – including the honours won by the Club - were acquired by Mr Charles Green’s consortium as part of the sale and purchase agreement. “The SPL have been in contact with RFC 2012 PLC with regard to the SPL’s Commission which is examining Rangers’ historic use of EBTs. However, having taken legal advice, it is the Joint Administrators’ opinion that the SPL is not able to pursue RFC 2012 PLC in this matter. “The SPL have stated that the Commission is empowered to review the use of EBTs under the contract between the SPL and its member club. RFC 2012 PLC no longer has a contract with the SPL and therefore the SPL has no jurisdiction over it. “This has been communicated to the SPL and considering that further involvement in this matter is not in the interests of its creditors, RFC 2012 PLC will have no further involvement with the Commission. “Our primary role as Administrators was to rescue the business which has been achieved by Charles Green and his consortium and whilst any sanctions the Commission may levy will not affect RFC 2012 PLC this process would not appear to us to be helpful to the ongoing revival of Rangers.”
  19. Monday, 10 September 2012 15:23 A Chance To Shine Written by Lindsay Herron YOUNG guns Kyle Hutton and Kal Naismith will be hoping to shoot their way into top team contention when the Reserve League kicks-off tomorrow night. Hutton and Naismith have been on the periphery of the first team in the opening phase of the campaign. Midfielder Hutton started the Ramsdens Cup tie at Brechin back in July but has not featured since then while striker Naismith has had three substitute appearances. Both should start the Reserve League opener at Annan’s Galabank Stadium. Coach Tommy Wilson said: “It’s the ideal chance for players like Kyle Hutton and Kal Naismith – boys that I know well – to get some game time and maybe show the first team coaching staff how they can perform on the surface that the first team will play on this weekend.” Rangers will play 13 Reserve League matches this season – seven away at six at home with most of the home game taking place at the Training Centre. There is no age restriction so Ally McCoist may choose to give first team stars match action from time to time. Wilson added: “We are hoping to play our home games at Murray Park on Pitch One but one of the issues is the lighting. “We are taking steps to sort that out and I’m sure that teams that come here will really enjoy it. “We might play the odd game at Ibrox – and I hope we do and maybe get a bit of a crowd.”

  24. Charles Green knows how to push fans buttons.. and it's making him money CHARLES GREEN either has immunity to the world outside his four walls to the point of being off the spectrum ... or heâ??s a marketing genius. Charles Green THERE is clearly money to be made in defiance. Finance to be had from other peopleâ??s froth. How else do you explain Charles Greenâ??s apparently limitless capacity to come up with statements and schemes designed specifically to have everyone outside of Ibrox pebble-dashing their kitchen tables with semi-consumed cornflakes? Say what you like about the man. But he either has immunity to the world outside his four walls to the point of being off the spectrum ... or heâ??s a marketing genius. Last week? Two absolute belters, straight from the â??Heâ??s at it, right? Please tell me heâ??s at itâ?? school of noise-ups. First he gives an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel in which he brazenly states: â??Today we are the strongest club in Scotland. We have the biggest fanbase, no debts, no loans, no overdraft and money in the bank.â? Start setting watch now... tick tick tick. Next he launches a Crossbar Challenge for their fans, bragging theyâ??ll give away a MILLION pounds to anyone who does it at their last home game of the season against Berwick. Tick tick tick ... KABOOM! You can just see him sitting there, staring at the clock on the wall, waiting for the exact moment he simultaneously makes the head of every right-thinking football fan in the country explode. The collective seethe at the immorality, the complete and utter lack of contrition, will have him giggling like Muttley. Because the more he has everyone else obsessing about them and their arrogance, the more he knows his own support will circle the wagons. And the more they do that, the more money he makes. Simple, yet brilliant. Look at the TV viewing figures if youâ??re not convinced. Rangersâ?? two domestic matches shown live so far â?? two supposedly run-of-the-mill Division Three draws away at Peterhead and Berwick â?? have the two biggest audiences of any games shown from Scotland this season. Apparently 166,000 and 96,000 respectively tuned in â?? the latter on ESPN with a third of the subscribers of Sky â?? compared to a high of 91,000 for Celtic v Aberdeen on day one and 70,000 and 67,000 respectively for their trips to the Highlands. The Edinburgh derby barely mustered a third of those figures. Say what you like, but Rangers are big box office. Doesnâ??t matter if youâ??re hoping to see them fall flat on their face or not â?? and most people are, clearly, because itâ??s not for the dazzling standard or the technical prowess on show. Youâ??re still tuning in and that's all Green cares about. Because the more you rage, the more he engages. Theyâ??re loving the fact Celtic websites are spending more time fixating on a team most of them claim to be dead and history-less than they do over their own sideâ??s Champions League chances. Loving the fact that fans of other clubs are getting in a lather over the preposterous â??You spend 50 quid a week, weâ??ll spend seven grand a weekâ?? culture thatâ??s under-pinning their signing policy. Rangers are like the skin on a drum. The harder you try to hit them, the louder they get. Fans are turning up in giant numbers â?? not because they love the Third Division but to prove that they are, in fact, The Peepil. Their two league home gates have been 49,000 and 46,000 respectively. Throw in their two cup games at home and their average is STILL just a few dozen under 40,000. Theyâ??ll be desperate to keep their league average attendance above Celticâ??s for yet more infantile one-upmanship. And every fleck of phlegm generated against them sees a few more on the gate and a few more quid in the pot for Green. It will go in to overdrive again this week. Thatâ??s when the independent commission looking at the EBT debacle convenes to talk about HOW the hell theyâ??re going to deal with the issues, not the actual issues themselves. The worst thing that can happen for the owner will be when he has nothing left to rail against. When they have no-one to defy â?? to stick two fingers up at. When they become plain old Rangers, playing home and away through the winter, same as every other club. So brace yourself for more of the Green machine. The more you nibble, the more he dribbles.
