Tuesday, 18 September 2012 10:03 Club Statement Written by Rangers Football Club FOLLOWING the announcement that The Rangers Football Club has appointed Cenkos to advise the club in relation to its plans to raise further capital, The Rangers Football Club announces today that it has appointed Capita Registrars to provide share registration services. Charles Green, Chief Executive of Rangers, said: “From the outset, the consortium which purchased the Club has stated its commitment to giving supporters and the wider public the opportunity to buy shares in Rangers. "The appointment of Cenkos Securities plc and Capita Registrars are important steps in the process and we are looking to continue making good progress on these matters.” The Rangers Football Club will make further details available shortly and expects that fans will have an opportunity to register their interest in purchasing shares in The Rangers Football Club in October.

What to do with Alan Hutton? #avfc Quite what we did we do to deserve Alan Hutton remains a mystery. Further, who in their right mind paid a fee (£4m) and agreed a four year contract for his services? Alex McLeish must take a fair portion of the blame for wanting to link up with an old Rangers chum; but whoever released the funds without so much as a glancing on Youtube or the face of Spursâ?? chairman Levy, needs a stern talking to. Tonight there are a number of news outlets reporting that the Villa full back is available for loan. Shock, horror. Loan, transfer, rocket into outer space; the fact is itâ??s no secret that Alan Hutton has absolutely no future at Villa Park. The truth is that Hutton is most certainly one of the worst fullback in the clubs history. Easily the worst in living memory. And this is a club that romanced with Ulises De La Cruz in the role. We know poor fullbacks when we see one; but who to offload him to is going to be a stumbling block in itself. Where to, Alan? It is with some certainty that this blog can state Alan Hutton is not a Premier League defender. And thatâ??s stating the obvious. Poor positioning, desperate lunging challenges and lacking in any sort of key attributes you would mark as a prerequisite of a modern defender. Simply awful defending coupled with frequent dangerous tackles against opponents; skills not featuring on most managers shopping list. Another hindrance is Huttonâ??s £30,000 a week wages. For this we only have ourselves to blame. A package agreed under supposed austerity at the club. The reality is that Villa will likely have to accept that subsidising a deal will be the only means of moving him to pastures new. Wherever that may be? Suitors appear very limited for the 27 year old Scottish international. Aside from brief interest from Stoke, nothing has materialised. For the reasons above, this is by no means surprising. Stoke, after-all, have enough leg breakers in their team already. Hutton himself may need to drop down to at least an average Championship side or even lower. The fact that talent such as Matthew Lowton, whom Villa snapped up from Sheffield United, is available from League 1 would give me cause for concern if in his shoes. Thereâ??s also little or no prospect of a return to former club Rangers (transfer embargo?) and its also unlikely a player cross the Glasgow city divide to bitter rivals Celtic, assuming they would want Alan Hutton. So slim pickings indeed, assuming Cowdenbeath arenâ??t looking for someone to chop the half time oranges. Sarcasm aside, Hutton is a baffling player from an utterly bizarre period in the clubs recent history. Looking back, the club systematically put the wheels in motion for self destruction with such decisions to outlay on players of this calibre. In time Villa will move on and with the inevitable departure of Hutton, will close a painful wound from last season. Under Lambert, judging by his signings so far, we donâ??t look likely to reopen it. http://vilr.tumblr.com/post/31740410126/what-to-do-with-alan-hutton-avfc one comment stood out even on an Aston Villa page there's Celtic fans having a pop at Rangers. Annan Athletic 0-0 Rangers Written by Andrew Dickson RANGERS’ away jinx struck yet again as they failed to breach Annan’s goal and dropped points on the road for the third consecutive game. The Light Blues had enough possession and chances to win a couple of matches and should really have returned north with a victory under their belts. But staunch resistance from their plucky opponents denied them such a result and once again a place at the top of the Third Division table has evaded Gers. While many including many of Athletic’s own players and staff will feel this was a positive result for them, it was one they richly deserved. They were solid in defence and reaped the rewards for their terrific organisation, with a huge cheers going up from locals as the final whistle blew. While there wasn’t much hospitality shown towards the visitors on the park, the same certainly couldn’t be said off it. If the rest of the Third Division could have been described as happy to have Rangers in tow this season, it would be fair to suggest Annan were positively ecstatic to host them. The proverbial welcome mat wasn’t just rolled out for the 54-time Scottish champions, it was given the equivalent of a really good shampoo first as well. Regardless of whether Gers or Stranraer were to be Athletic’s opponents this afternoon, this was always going to be the first SFL match at the redeveloped Galabank ground. As such, the Dumfries and Galloway side’s officials have spent much of their week applying finishing touches to their small but intimate stadium. And with the car park tarmacked, their new 3G pitch looking terrific and a safety certificate for their enhanced terracing secured, thoughts turned to making the Light Blues feel at home. The pre-match playlist certainly warmed the cockles as Ibrox favourites such as Wolverhampton Town and Penny Arcade blared out. That said, the PA announcer’s selection did little to endear him to Harry Cairney’s players and it was no great surprise their frustrations ensured they made a determined start. They were visibly riled and they’ll feel a point was proven once the 90 minutes had passed without their goal being breached. Athletic made things awkward for away keeper Neil Alexander in the opening stages as he had to be alert to punch clear on more than one occasion. Annan - like many of their bottom tier rivals – weren’t afraid to put a tackle in either and one strong challenge saw David Templeton carried off on a stretcher less than 10 minutes in. His ankle injury meant Fran Sandaza was pitched in to play alongside Lee McCulloch and Dean Shiels in attack, with Barrie McKay providing support behind them. Away fans had flocked to Galabank in great numbers, with some even staying in tents at the campsite next door overnight in order to get a good spot next to the pitch. They won’t have been too encouraged by the slow start Ally McCoist’s men made and they almost fell behind when Lee Wallace had to react sharply to block Michael Daly. From the resulting corner, the home striker headed over while McCulloch did the same at the other end as Gers finally mustered a response. The visitors came forward again and it took some heroic defending from Jonny Blake to keep them out. In an act of sheers guts and grit, he made a succession of tackles to deny McKay, Sandaza then McCulloch before the Spaniard saw his effort saved by keeper Alex Mitchell. Rangers were gradually settling and some determined running by Sandaza set up McCulloch, who wasn’t far away from a low right-footed volley. McCoist’s men came forward again and once more Sandaza was inventive, showing good footwork to set up Shiels. Annan’s defence was resolute though and got in the way, just as it did when McCulloch had a go again moments later ahead of a rasper from Sebastien Faure which lifted over. While the Light Blues appeared to be getting closer, the hosts had the best chance prior to half-time when Jack Steele got away from Wallace to drill across goal and just past. They had a cracking opportunity after the restart too when advantage was played after Ross Perry might have fouled Graeme Ramage and Steele found himself in on Alexander. With a rush of blood to the head, however, Gers were off the hook as the striker pulled his shot wide of the target and he should have done so much better. The Light Blues needed a spark and the busy Sandaza looked as likely to give them it but Annan’s defending was getting more and more stubborn as time went on. On the rare occasions they were carved open, the away side’s finishing was poor and Shiels should have done so much better than lift straight into Mitchell’s hands. Nevertheless, Rangers kept getting forward when they could and Faure drilled across the face of goal and wide from a corner then Sandaza forced a good save from Mitchell. Time was beginning to run out and although Rangers were enjoying the bulk of possession, they weren’t nearly as ruthless as they are capable of. McCulloch hammered into the ground and wide and Sandaza curled a free kick past the post as the Ibrox outfit laid siege to the home goal in the closing stages. McCulloch was then blocked again and Wallace screwed away from goal and it seemed the deadlock might just be broken after all. But when the captain was denied for a third time in quick succession by a fantastic Mitchell save, it summed up the kind of day Rangers had had. A third consecutive league draw wasn’t what McCoist had wanted at all and an improvement on the road is undoubtedly required. Andrew Dickson@rfc_dickson I'll be honest - it sounds like the pre-match music for the PA system has been chosen by a Rangers fan rather than an Annan one...

Journeys merge from Manchester to Galabank and Whitehill Welfare to Rangers « backall articles » Friday 14th September 2012 It is often said that a week is a long time in politics however, four years and four months in football is an eon when you consider the cases of Annan Athletic and Rangers. This Saturday the clubs will meet in their first ever competitive encounter but if you go back to 14th May, 2008, the paths of the Chairman of the Galabankies, Henry McClelland, and the Ibrox club crossed and if anyone had said then they would cross again in a League match just four years later, they would have been looked at with some bewilderment. Rangers were in Manchester to play Zenit St. Petersburg in the UEFA Cup Final and McClelland was there having used his connections from his Chairmanship of a then East of Scotland League side to get a ticket for the game. McClelland said: â??I went to the game as I like to see Scottish clubs do well in Europe and there was a chance Rangers would win a European trophy. However, I was not the only Annan person there that night.â? The Galabank chief explained: â??Chris Jardine, who actually started his career at Rangers and is still with us as our longest serving player, was also there. It was part of the deal for him to re-sign for what we thought would be another season in the East of Scotland League that we got him a ticket for the UEFA Cup Final.â? McClelland added: â??The following season he wanted tickets for T in the Park so whilst we donâ??t haggle over money at Annan, we do have some interesting discussions when it comes to re-signing players.â? Rangersâ?? summer of change happened in very well documented circumstances however, the route for Annan to this weekendâ??s historic game took place in their own summer of change just after Rangers lost out on European success as the Russian side, ironically managed by the Ibrox club's former Manager, Dick Advocaat, won 2-0. After that Manchester defeat, Rangers returned to action and played Motherwell, St. Mirren and Aberdeen in the SPL before facing Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup Final to round off a hectic ten day spell. Annan Thletic and McClelland were just about to embark on their own hectic spell with the Galabank Chairman saying: â??I went to the Scottish Cup Final on 24th May and then the following week, Annan played what was to become their final match in the East of Scotland League when we drew 1-1 with Whitehill Welfare. I missed it because I had gone to the Czech Republic to see Scotland play in a friendly international.â? In between his football journeys to Manchester, Glasgow and Prague, McClelland had started the ball rolling towards his side eventually meeting Rangers this weekend. The Annan Chairman started letting it be known that his club would be interested in replacing Gretna should the then financially troubled club drop out of League football. McClelland said: â??We are only seven miles from Gretna and we had a strong sense that the situation there was a bad one. The expectation, based on what was being said locally, was that they would fold and we started making people aware that we would be keen to seek membership of The Scottish Football League if a vacancy arose. We knew there would be a fit and proper application process but we started brushing up our previous applications for admittance to the SFL at the end of May, 2008.â? Gretna did fall and Annan entered into a race that they won by seeing off Cove Rangers, Spartans, Preston Athletic and Edinburgh City with McClelland saying: â??Summer 2008 was a crazy time for us as we had to put the application together and then get ourselves ready for the SFL. We were admitted on 3rd July and our first game was on 26th July when we were away to Clyde in The ALBA Challenge Cup.â? To make matters more complicated at that time, Manager Harry Cairney was on holiday in Florida with McClelland saying: â??Harry is a school teacher and therefore, cannot go on holiday until late June or early July and with our East of Scotland League season due to start in mid-August, it was only right that he was away at that time.â? Cairneyâ??s absence led to McClelland making a decision that he has regretted for four years but can finally recover from this weekend as he explained: â??With Harry thousands of miles away, I was doing bits and pieces to help out fom pre-season. I got a phone call from Ally McCoistâ??s PA offering us a game at Murray Park against a Rangers side that would be made up of first team fringe players and youngsters. â??It was to be played on the Thursday before the Clyde game, ironically the night Harry was due back, and I did not have the bottle to take the game on without getting the Managerâ??s permission. He would maybe have wanted to do something different that night so I let the chance pass. â??There have been a few times I that have felt that I let the opportunity of a game against a strong Rangers XI pass us by.â? Rangers did send a young side down to Galabank the day after the Black and Goldâ??s lost their ALBA Challenge Cup tie to the Bully Wee 2-0 with McClelland saying: â??That game was due to be played against our first team to mark the opening of the new stand at Galabank but obviously that changed as they had played the day before. We played with a few fringe players and guys that had been on the bench but of course, we were in a real state of transition then. It was a well attended game with over 1,000 fans at it.â? The relationship between the Chairman and the Manager would no doubt have stood the test of an unexpected game against the Rangers side with McClelland saying: â??Harry is now the second longest serving Manager in Scotland with only Hamiltonâ??s Billy Reid having been in his job longer. I am sure like me he has thought about how good an opportunity that would have been but we now have four League games to look forward to.â? Whilst Cairney has stayed in post along with Jardine and central defender Peter Watson, not a lot else has remained static at Galabank with McClelland saying: â??During our four years in the SFL, there has been more than £1million of investment made on and off the pitch and there is more to come. We will continue to develop our ground when we can afford to do it and we are grateful for the support we have received from various bodies to help us do what we have done so far. â??We put down a 3g artificial surface during the summer through support from the Scottish Government and their Cashback for Communities programme as well as backing from the local council and sportscotland. As a result, Galabank will be the first artificial surface Rangers play on this season so that is another piece of history for us. â??They had a reserve side down on Tuesday night for the SFL Reserve League match and won 1-0 so it will not be a total shock to them.â? There are changes off the pitch as well with McClelland advising: â??There is a new terracing in place at the Clubhouse end of the ground and we have plans to have a cover over it by the end of October. There are proper crash barriers in place and that allowed us to increase the capacity by another 500 to 2,500. â??There are projects kicking off all the time to take that capacity higher however, there are still a lot of groundworks to be done with jobs like tarring and improving the entrance to the ground still getting worked on as we speak. It is pretty constant here.â? There will be a capacity crowd at the game with McClelland saying: â??All the tickets were sold out to season ticket holders and social club members and we never even made it to a public sale. There will be 1,500 Annan supporters at the game although I am sure one or two of them will have dual allegiances judging by the number of supporters who have been asking how they can get their picture taken with Ally McCoist!â? McClelland is disappointed however, that with such a limited capacity. the game was not chosen for live TV as he said: â??I am glad that we have the traditional Saturday 3.00 p.m. kick off as I think that adds to the occasion but I am disappointed that we are not on TV. We have the smallest capacity in the Third Division and I find it a bit hard to believe that there would not be a demand as there will only be 1,000 Rangers fans at the game. Going by the TV figures their games have been attracting, there is probably 200 times that amount of Rangers fans who would want to watch this game. â??We also have to find space to fit in all the media that are coming along and the interest from there has been immense with media from Scotland, England and the continent all attending.â? McClelland joked: â??Hopefully, they are saving us for TV for an end of season title decider or a Play-Off game,â? before he added, â??Despite that, it will still be a proud day for our club and the biggest game Annan as well as Galabank has seen. To be going from non-league football to playing Rangers in a SFL game is a pretty wild dream and it is now a reality. You could only hope of meeting either of the Old Firm in a cup tie and that would probably have been in the Fourth Round which is not always easy for Third Division sides to get to.â? McClelland reckons that tomorrow will be a very special reward for a dedicated band at the club as he explained: â??As Chairman of the club, I am in the privileged position of welcoming Rangers to the game in an official capacity however, we have a really dedicated group at our club who have helped make it happen. â??We have a number of volunteers here and this game is a great one for them to see as a thank you for years and years of hard work for the club. They are a great bunch and I am sure like me, they will have a tear in their eye when they look round a packed ground on Saturday and wonder at how far we have come.â? The Galabank Chairman concluded by saying: â??The 'Gamesmakers' as they were called at the Olympics got a lot of praise and the volunteers at Annan deserve the same. We will soon be even more of a community club when we get the go ahead to allow the artificial pitch to be used every day of the week. At the moment, we cannot do that due to the building work but we will grow again once we start doing that.â? http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/news/article/journeys-merge-form-manchester-to-galabank-and-whitehill-welfare-to-rangers/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SFL+Newsletter+201213+-+140912&utm_content=SFL+Newsletter+201213+-+140912+CID_0aee153b663a118087c540e693f012f0&utm_source=Red+Paint+Send+Email+marketing+software&utm_term=READ+FULL+STORY

2012-09-12 GIOVANNI DI STEFANO 'THE DEVILS ADVOKAT' SET TO INTERVENE IN EBT HEARING IN NOVEMBER Giovanni Di Stefano 'The Devils Advokat' and a shareholder in Rangers Football Club PLC (in administration) is set to intervene in the hearing set out by the Scottish SPL investigating the EBT matter at Rangers Football Club. In a strongly worded letter Di Stefano made clear that the whole matter was "wholly misconceived" and he supported the stance taken by Charles Green in refusing to recognise the SPL Commission. The letter faxed to the SPL and the SFA states as follows: "I refer to my previous correspondence with regard to the above and related matters. I note with some concern that the SPL has set a date for a ‘hearing’ on of Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) transactions to Rangers players from 2000 to 2011 and potential violations of SPL Rules. I note also that your ‘commission’ has issued directions including “both Oldco and Newco” to file documents they intend to rely upon by 1st November 2012. Leaving quite aside that the Statute Limitations permits only 6 years in any civil matter it seems to me that the whole question of the SPL establishing a ‘Commission’ whilst RFC PLC is in administration is wholly misconceived. I am a shareholder of RFC PLC and as such herein serve you my intention to be heard in pro per and make the necessary submissions without prejudice to any other rights. I require from you the specific allegations and a full set of documents that the SPL rely upon in this matter. In the event I do not receive such or am precluded please accept this letter as a formal protocol letter for Judicial Review. I cannot but emphasize that the establishment of a Commission in the manner prescribed is wholly misconceived. I fully support the view adopted by Charles Green Esq. on behalf of the ‘Newco’ in that his company is not, cannot, be effected in anyway by any action taken by the SPL. The misconception and complete waste of time, resources and public image of Scottish football in my view raises the question of the SPL per se bringing the game into disrepute. It is one matter if the SPL sought a commission to investigate all clubs during the past six years but it is wholly discriminatory and prejudicial to target simply RFC PLC." Speaking from London Di Stefano said "This is wholly absurd and clearly targeting individually one club RFC PLC. As a shareholder I will attend solely on a without prejudice basis. You really need a search party to find anything remotely contrary to the SPL rules that a whole heap of others have not done including the SPL themselves. I will ask the payments made to certain individuals at the SPL. Its best they let sleeping dogs die their own natural death rather than try and compound matters for RFC PLC. One thing though it is certain that RFC PLC cannot be liquidated whilst these kind of proceedings are ongoing. The SPL should simply let the clubs now get on with football. All this is affecting the game and the Scottish National team." The SPL made no comment.

Charles Green Must Be Made Aware Of Police Intimidation At Ibrox 12 September 2012 14:27 Written by DarcheVinny © Willie Vass In case you haven't read it yet, earlier this afternoon the Union Bears released a statement and were disappointed and 'must inform the 500+ fans on our BF1 transfer waiting list that Rangers have decided to block our proposed move and expansion into the central sections of the Broomloan Front'. You can read the full statement here, also on RangersMedia. As well as stern criticisms of Ibrox security chief, David Martin, the statement also goes on to confirm that Rangers supporters are regularly and unecessarily being intimidated by Strathclyde Police on match day, both at Ibrox and away from home. 'Every week supporters in section BF1 are subjected to full body searches at turnstyles, every flag and banner being filmed before being allowed entry, intimidation inside and outside the stadium from stewards and Police as well as being filmed for 90 minutes by the anti-football unit of the police whilst individuals inside the club give details of our members to Police to add to their intelligence database. All this for daring to turn up and support our team. Recently, supporters in section BF1 have also been told by Police to hold their season ticket up to a camera and state their name and address. Mr Martin didn't see any issue with this and assumes it's all in the interest of pursuing criminal investigations. This is of course is absolute nonsense. As David Martin interestingly informed us this week, there is more arrests and evictions in other areas of the stadium on a match day than in Section BF1. It's blatant intimidation of football supporters.' This is a subject which has been bothering me for quite a few months now. This police intimidation is not confined to the BF1 section and I have been on the receiving end of - and witness to - unecessary intimidation from Strathclyde Police - as have hundreds of other supporters - at Ibrox in particular. So what do we do? Who do we complain to? How do we stop this unecessary and unfair treatment of innocent and decent football supporters? Supporting out team is not a crime, so why must we all be treated as criminals? As I understand it, for a typical 3pm kick-off at Ibrox, the stadium is handed over to police from 1pm. From this point onwards Strathclyde Police are in full control of everything inside and outside of Ibrox, for the duration of the match. Both SFA and SFL legislation states: 'A club shall take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to ensure the safety, good conduct and behaviour of its supporters on any ground. A club playing at its own ground or allowing its ground to be used for a match in which it is not participating shall also take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to ensure the safety, good conduct and behaviour of all spectators at that ground. A recognised football body which is directly responsible for organising a match under its jurisdiction shall likewise take all such steps as are reasonably practicable to ensure the safety, good conduct and behaviour of spectators at such match.' So in short, football clubs and football bodies have to ensure that supporters within the stadium behave themselves. What happens if supporters do misbehave? 'Misbehaviour by spectators before, during or at the close of a match resulting from the failure of a club or recognised football body to take all reasonably practicable steps as aforesaid shall render that club or recognised football body liable to a fine or closure of ground or suspension or all of these penalties.' The above explains why police are used by football clubs to control football supporters, before, during and immediately after a match. So I think it is fair to say that by paying for the police service, football clubs are taking all 'reasonably practicable steps' to control football supporters on match day. From my reading of the legislation, it doesn't appear that the SFA or SFL demand that football clubs use the police specifically to control football supporters on match day - but I would be happily corrected if someone can tell me better? This also probably explains why at 1pm - for a typical 3pm kick-off - Rangers hand over full control to Strathclyde Police. The police are probably the only option, when complying to the legislation quoted above. So again, who do we complain to? It would seem that Rangers' hands are tied. They have no option but to use the police. There are no other security firms that could deal with a football riot, if one were to happen at Ibrox? You could complain to Strathclyde Police, but let's face it, that would be a waste of time. You would probably be better of contacting your local MP? Or Glasgow South West MP, Ian Davidson. You can find contact details for Ian Davidson, here. Charles Green and Ally McCoist have both been extremely complimentary, supportive and grateful to the atmosphere created by the Union Bears and The Blue Order in recent weeks, yet how would they feel if these supporters groups continue to be intimidated by Strathclyde Police in this way and the atmosphere suffers, going back to the morgue-like silence we used to hear a few season's ago? Not only that, how would Charles Green feel if supporters felt so intimidated by police on match day, that they choose not to buy tickets? That isn't going to help him achieve his goals as set out by the owners of the club. Charles Green should be informed of this intimidation when it happens, be it to you personally, or something you are witness to. Charles Green needs to understand that his paying customers are being unecessarily hassled and intimidated by Strathclyde Police as part of their service to the club, to control supporters - a service Rangers are paying handsomely for? I am not saying that Charles Green can directly influence the tactics used by police to control football supporters, but surely he could investigate these genuine and long overdue accusations that Strathclyde Police are intimidating and hassling innocent Rangers supporters, like you and I? I know full well that freedom of speech no longer exists in Salmond's Scotland, but why should I have my clothing and scarf inspected, everytime I enter the stadium? Why should I be filmed by police officers, when I have given them no reason to do so? Why should police officers demand I tell them my name and address? Why should I be treated like a criminal, even though I have not committed a crime? We need your help, Mr Green. Supporting our team, is not a crime.
