  1. Re: The Sun front page Cash-strapped Rangers handed their chairman a £20,000 contract - for around FOUR DAYS' work. David Somers netted the lucrative deal when he took up the post despite the club desperately needing to cut costs. The Scottish Sun understands he trousered a whopping £10,000 a month from November 8 to December 31 laste year n- before expenses. And yesterday it emerged the terms of the job were for him to work just ONE or TWO days a month, plus preparation ahead of meetings. It's not known how much work Somers, 65, did in his first two months, though Ibrox chiefs insist he's ended up with "daily" duties. The period covered the club's stormy pre-Christmas AGM when the entire board were booed by supporters. In January, Somers' wages dropped to £5,000 a month - still a cool£60,000 a year. Last night protest group the Union of Fans said they were "astounded". A spokesman added: "It's another example of fans' cash being paid out to benefit the present regime." It comes days after it emerged chief exec Graham Wallace is in line for a bonus that would double his £315,000 salary. A spokesman said: "The contract may have anticipated that level of commitment when Mr Somers joined but he's been working on a daily basis ever since."

  3. [h=2]Andy Little @AndyLittle_7[/h]6th May 2014 from TwitLonger I'll be leaving Rangers at the end of the month, to consider other clubs in the UK and abroad and move on in my football career. I've loved being a Ranger - my time at the club was very special for me - and I want to thank people for that. My gratitude to all the staff at Murray Park who have been so supportive and kind to me every single day at training. Leaving them behind and driving out of the gates today was difficult but I know I have made some true friends for life. Thank you also to all the coaches and the back room staff, especially Ian Durrant for bringing me to the club in the first place. I want to thank the manager and Walter Smith for bringing me into the 1st team as a young lad - the game time I had while Rangers were still in the top flight was invaluable to me starting out. In particular, the sensation of scoring against Celtic in a packed Ibrox is a feeling that will live with me forever. Staying with Rangers in 2012 is a decision I certainly don't regret - playing 89 times and scoring 38 goals for a club as big as Rangers is a dream come true no matter what the circumstances. I was delighted to be the Club's top scorer in division 3 last season and be part of an unbeaten team in league 1 this season. Writing our names into the history books is something all of us are very proud of. I wish the boys all the best as they no doubt go on to win promotion again next season. Most importantly, I want to thank the fans. You make the club what it is. From Sydney to San Francisco to Hong Kong - I've met fans everywhere and it's always humbled me how much love there is for our club and what it means to so many around the world. Thank you.

  8. THE Rangers supporters trust fund goes ‘live’ tomorrow. When it does Gers fans will be handed the choice they have been longing for. And, more importantly, Dave King will have delivered on his first promise to the supporters. Wrestling control of a Scottish institution was never going to be a pushover. It was never going to happen overnight. And it was never going to be done by just one man. But when King spelled out his vision and his plans to me, he didn’t need to ask twice if I was on board. That’s why I immediately agreed to become a director. Tomorrow lunchtime, at a press conference in Glasgow, there will be confirmation the trust fund is up and running. And that Gers fans can now pledge their cash if they wish. No one is holding a gun to their heads. If they are happy with how the current regime is running Rangers, then they can snap up their season tickets tomorrow. If not, they can log on to the fund’s website and start changing things for the better. The business review delivered by Graham Wallace last week hammered home to me the importance of getting behind King and supporting him where and when I could. I just wish more former Rangers players would stand up and do the same. How can anyone with Gers’ best interests at heart be happy with how things are at present? The chief executive laid bare the figures in black and white last Friday. Rangers’ shamed directors have squandered £67MILLION — in just 18 months. Quite frankly, I think that is downright disgusting. King is the only man offering investment. He is the only person prepared to give fans a say in the running of Rangers. Now those same fans have the chance to show their support — and I believe they will. I am on Facebook and, since I announced I was becoming a director alongside King, 99 per cent of the comments I’ve received have been positive. Some fans are still unsure, which is fine. If they don’t want to pledge their cash to us either, then they are entitled to sit back and see what happens next. They are entitled to keep their hard-earned money in their pockets. But many — if not the majority — I’ve spoken to are not prepared to sit back any longer. Right at the outset, King told me this fight would not be won by the fans alone. It would be won with the backing of key institutional investors. But he recognises the need to get the fans onside. And I believe they see King and myself as people they can trust. Rangers fans have been continuously lied to for the best part of three years now. Many, if not the majority, are sick, tired and fed-up. But the fight we are entrenched in still has to be won. We need everyone pulling together in one final push. People have asked me why King doesn’t just fork out £5 million or £6 m and buy out the board. But it’s not as simple and straightforward as that. For a start — and this is key — Dave doesn’t want to reward the current regime. He has no intention of lining their pockets any further. King is a man with a plan. In fact, he is a man with a plan A, B, and C. I had to laugh this week when I saw some fans claiming his takeover drive had lost some momentum. Are they for real? The trust fund is about to go live, the current Rangers board have been exposed once again and the share price has fallen off the edge of the cliff. I would say the momentum is ALL with us. Just cast your mind back to last week, when Wallace confirmed Gers had been forced to scrap the debit and credit card facility because they couldn’t give the company that ran it the guarantees they were looking for. It’s like wheeling and dealing in The Barras. Embarrassing. And that, fundamentally, is why I am now involved. I’m fed-up with Rangers being a laughing stock. This is not the club I knew. King has made his stand and I am 100 per cent behind him. I’m doing it for the right reasons and I’m doing it because I believe I can make a difference. If we don’t act right now, then where might Rangers be in 12 months’ time? I dare not think. For too long, people have been allowed to get away with doing what they like. No one at Rangers has been held to account. By asking the questions they didn’t want to face, in many respects King has already held this lot to account. But the battle isn’t over yet and it is no use fans burying their heads in the sand. It is up to us all to make sure we get our Rangers back. It is up to us all to make sure we get Rangers back to the top where it belongs

  10. [h=1]Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace on £320,000 salary[/h]By Alasdair LamontSenior football reporter, BBC Scotland Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace is on a salary of £320,000 a year with a 100% bonus, BBC Scotland has learned. Wallace has come under pressure to reveal his salary structure in recent weeks but declined to answer questions on the matter last Friday. However, shareholders have since requested sight of board contracts. Wallace is also due an increase of £25,000 per year as Rangers move up the leagues, plus additional bonuses for European qualification. A Rangers spokesman said pay and bonuses were in line with the requirements of AIM, the London Stock Exchange's international market for smaller growing companies. "Employing key executives of the appropriate calibre are vital to the board's strategy to both reposition Rangers at the top of Scottish football and to compete regularly in Europe," he said. “Bonuses are decided by a remuneration committee chaired by director James Easdale, who this year waived his entitlement to receive fees and repaid to the company £12,640.34” Rangers spokesman "We are delighted to have a board made of up of such experienced professionals. All pay and bonuses are structured to meet AIM requirements and institutional investor guidelines (ABI and NAPF). "Bonuses are decided by a remuneration committee chaired by director James Easdale, who this year waived his entitlement to receive fees and repaid to the company £12,640.34 in fees he received in the last half of 2013 when was appointed a director. Mr Sandy Easdale has never received any fees. "The remuneration committee is responsible for setting and reviewing executive remuneration within the context of the company's overall corporate performance. "The remuneration committee reviews base salary with reference to a relevant market-competitive level and actual total rewards at a level to reflect the performance of an individual and the company as a whole." The Union of Fans, an umbrella body of supporters groups, had asked Wallace to publicly declare whether he was on a 100% bonus. On hearing the news confirmed, Craig Houston, of the Sons of Struth - part of the UoF body - told BBC Scotland: "The circa £300,000 basic wage in itself is not unexpected nor maybe excessive for the position he occupies. "However, the amount of bonus does appear high, especially at a time that the board has announced possible redundancies and recently asked the playing staff to take a substantial wage cut. "I am sure that, unless Mr Wallace requires a £600,000+ salary to remain in such a privileged position, which many would consider an honour, I would fully expect that he would not have achieved the pre-set targets to attract this bonus and would find it sensible to publicly decline this bonus for this financial year."
