Is that the one who looked like he'd been tango'd? Saw him and rolled my eyes, lol.
-
Best news ive heard today if it all happens.
-
Well he wasnt allowed to buy any players for the Scotland squad and seems to have brought the national team forward. Hopefully, if he is the next manager, that will carry on.
-
Im going to have to go for a not sure. I think it would be ok to have him until the end of the season rather than appoint someone on a whim. Mind you, the long pursuit of PLG didnt exactly give us anything to smile about in the end.
-
Im not saying that i think Smith should definatley be taken back to Ibrox, cause there is no saying that he would be able to get us back to the top. But i agree that we need to be a dominant force in the SPL again before Europe. SPL teams arent afraid of us anymore, they all know they can take points off us whether it be at their ground or ours and that needs to be rectified first and foremost. A dominant force in the SPL and Europe wouldnt be a bad thing though. But i doubt that will ever happen as long as DM is our Chairman.
-
That a good point Craig. As i said in another thread i think if we were sitting top of the league and the ill feeling between the two had come about then it would be Barry leaving. But i feel that at the moment that PLG leaving and Barry's (apparent) influence in that has over-shadowed the fact that we were having bad result after bad result this season.
-
Completely agree there mate. I think most foreign managers coming in off the cuff wouldnt have given a young scottish player like Smith or Adam (and eventually McGregor) as much of an opportunity as he did.
-
I agree Gav that he was most definately an influence in PLG leaving, but he wasnt the only influence. Poor results and a poor realationship with some fans were also a factor. The poor realationship with the fans only started very recently, but of course alot are saying now that he never really cared for the club, which i disagree with. DM seems to be taking the back seat on this one so far. I think that if things were different and we were top of the league and playing great, if PLG and Barry got into a spat then, it would be Barry leaving the club. I said about 5 mins before it was announced this afternoon that i didnt want player or manager to leave and had hoped that things would work out. But now that the manager has, booing a player (the best for us this season i think) will only damage the team further.
-
I see what you're say Craig, but eck and plg got it wrong tactically... so even if some of our favourite ex-players did, we'd be used to it. Seriously though, i think we need to have an ex-player like the ones being mentioned in this thread involved in the first team set up as i think it would help a great deal in getting more out of the players. Just my opinion.

Was thinking the same thing, i think he'll be gone by next season.

With all the stories flying around right now, too many to name, this is going to be a very difficult time at the club. Its very bad timing with the transfer window just opening and Durrant has a job and a half on his hands, unless a more experienced man is brought in right after the Dunfirmline game. But as one of the stories is, Barry was seemingly a strong influence in PLG leaving. Is he going to get the harsh treatment from the fans as soon as he is back on the pitch or will the back him? I think giving him the captaincy back right away would be a very bad move, as i thought the same thing when he came back from Blackburn and got it. But as i said this will be a very difficult time for the club and anything other than full support of the team is just going to make things worse than they already are. Although at times it looks like it cant get any worse, we are still in Europe and cant afford to fall any further behind in the league that we already have done.
-
Durrant and McCoist in the dugout would be good to see. Do they have the appropriate badges? They know what its like to play for Rangers and have the club at heart, some of the players in the squad need to have that drilled into them.
-
Get the same feeling re: BF influencing this decision. I wonder if he gets to decide on the new manager too.... I think the fans' protest played a big part too though. I saw last night that they were outside the bus at Motherwell chanting for Barry's return, that must have been a very uncomfortable situation for PLG who was only trying to get the message across that he was in charge and not Barry.
-
I think it would be that at the very most. If whatever is being said over the next few days is that he is for sale then clubs will know what the reason is and that Rangers will be desperate to move him on and bring in new players before the window closes.
-
I hope thats not true, i dont want player or manager to leave.
-
I dont think Barry will ever be able to change the way he is on the pitch, he always wants to be involved whether it be at free kicks, corners or controlling the game. But his attitude towards PLG will definately have to change if they are both to stay at the club, same goes for Boyd. Its plain to see that PLG is a much stricter man than eck ever was and some players arent realising that what the manager says, goes. Barry wasnt one of the ones i was meaning about playing for the jersey though, he knows what it means to play for Rangers and is desperate to stay. Its others who need to take a look at themselves and what they are giving to the cause as they pick up their thousands upon thousands of pounds every week.
-
That is the true and worrying fact at Ibrox right now. You could count the number of players on one hand who fall under that category.... some of the ones who are falling short need a history lesson...
-
Cant see Rae or Adam leaving yet. Rae has just been made captain and Adam has been a regular this season, also he is still young and IMO has done a decent job considering the circumstances. The rest i wouldnt be surprised if they left. Buffel has been the real disappointment for me, a while back we could have probably got about 5m for him with the form he was in. Two centre backs and a midfielder would be on my list. I dont see us bringing in another striker unless one of the ones we have leaves at the same time.
-
All ive seen of it is the adverts... and you only have to watch them to notice how bad it still is, lol.
-
I think i signed up to gersforum around that time to find out what the hell was going on here, lol.
-
Yes he is, and it pains me to say.... doing quite well with them. Well he was doing well a month or two ago, i havent seen anything of them since, but looks like they're still doing alright beating a premiership side.
-
Why couldnt the just play it tonight if they wanted to? It would be alot less hassle than having to rearrange it for another day. Fog does look pretty bad though, imagine being a goalie in THAT!!
-
They dominated the game?.... i must have been watching a different game then. Glad i still dont watch that pish program.
-
Both i think. I missed about 6 months on here one season cause i didnt know where the site had gone. Made a bigger effort to find it again.... on helicopter Sunday.
