It's time Charles Green named his backers
bluebear54 replied to the gunslinger's topic in Rangers Chat
Due diligence of Charles Green and Co anyone? -
As far as I understand, the SFA have as little control over history as they do over the Scottish legal system. History is history. It's already been written. INDELIBLY.
-
A Dunfermline would want to remain in the SPL. It's a recipe for bitterness and unworkable. If SKY/ESPN renogotiate/withdraw, there will be a couple of SPL clubs going to the wall in the first year, I would imagine. SFA/SPL will have to be careful. Scottish football's on the precipice.

Quote: "There's been a lack of remorse shown. Views have hardened." Lack of remorse by whom? Craig Whyte? The Adminstrators? Or does he mean us? Because I'm filled with remorse. I wish we'd never let Whyte over the doorstep. I hope we have long memories regarding Dundee Hibs and Hibs. And the others. Can't these prats see that Scottish football is falling apart at the seams? And they just continue making it worse.
-
So, let's get this right. The SFA (and if we are to believe, FIFA and EUFA) are categorically against footballing adminstrative matters being taken to courts. I see a paradox. I also see the SFA needing to find some dosh. They must have spunked a fortune on lawyers this season past. Wouldn't it be sweet if they went down the tubes.
-
Firstly, I don't think a lesser sanction would be acceptable by those who are actively trying to destroy us. Secondly, a registration ban, whether 6 or 12 months, is not within the SFA's powers. Fact.

Thanks Craig. You're obviously very passionate about coaching, and make some great points. UCF and Darthter also make equally valid comment I personally have always made an effort to inspire my kids to get involved in whatever sport they feel for. Your comments, Craig, about the lack of facilities is all too true. However, back to Auchenhowie, the facilities are there already. We just need the nous and the right people. And the right strategy. And as you say - think long term.
-
Thanks for that Craig. Your points are well recieved. I've never coached - but from a layman's point of view, I'm not so sure about this Nintendo reason/excuse. They have Nintendo/TVs/Computers all over the world. However, Spain are producing fabulous talent, as are Holland and as are Germany now. Denmark and Norway continue to throw up pretty good journeymen who are streets ahead of ours. If we look at the national team, we are failing abysmally. Teams like Norway and Denmark were teams that we gubbed consistently if we go back to the 60s. So what happened? The kids in Scandanavian countries have much more access to hitech stuff than our kids, but they still produce more intelligent and rounded players than we do. We can have a discussion about different stages of development, agreed, and I don't think the clubbing culture has helped the talent we produced who were in their late teens. I don't think that particular thing would be appreciated in the aforementioned countries. I may be wrong. But yes, you're right, we should be starting earlier, and young kids should learn the fun of football. What it is to have the ball. So four a side, five a side and upwards etc. But, with all due respect the Nintendo thing, I don't buy in to. With the right staff, the right strategy, Auchehnowie could be producing a decent profit. Otherwise, what's the point?
-
Auchenhowie's done alright, to be fair, and some good players have come through. But what we should be striving for is some GREAT players to come through. I think a priority should be to learn from the German, Dutch and Spanish methods. I think we've got some great Bears and servants of the Club there, but now more than ever, we need bang for our bucks. Auchenhowie should become one of the best nurseries in Europe - nay the world. To achieve that, we need the best staff, and the best scouts. Do it right, and it will pay for itself fivefold.
-
Don't see them doing it openly. They would then be directly challenging a determination of the Court of Session. See, the thing is, the horse has now bolted. FIFA won't make any sanction. It'll be up to the SFA - I think.
-
Such a well behaved bunch we are. Nobody's even mentioned wummin. I'll get a couple of tickets tomorrow. When I win, I'll buy the Rangers, and install Frankie as CEO. Then I'll buy Sellik and the rest of you are all on the board. First one to renege on tax payments gets a Ferrari. First one to change Lennon's job description gets two. Then, with my added clout, I'll have fun sorting out the SFA and the SPL. After that I'm offski to somewhere with palm trees and wummin.

"Remaining" sanctions? The registration ban was never an available sanction, so why be childish and mention "remaining?"
-
Interesting quote: Asked if that would be taken into account by FIFA, Boyce added: “I’m not a legal expert but it would have to be. I don’t know the legal powers the SFA had to do what they did.” Why do the press insist on asking opinions from people who have no knowledge of what they're talking about. Does it make them feel comfortable in their own ignorance?

Duff and Phelps must explain why they put trust in Charles Green

I seem to remember the supporters groups asking CW questions. But they all came away smiling and gave him a clean bill of health. -
£5.5m? Christ - we could buy a Bert Konterman for that and have a lot of change in our pocket. Sorry - second thoughts, totally agree with simplythebest.

Spot on Zappa. Aluko is priority number one. Great to talk about football.

Heigh-ho and all that. But have you not got that in reverse? -
I think that almost all of today's media coverage is either ill thought out spin (whether SFA or otherwise) or a collective journalistic incompetence in totally misunderstanding the implications of the ruling. A harsher view would be that is an ever more grotesquely driven anti-Rangers agenda. It appears to me that the SFA – and the media - have treated the Rangers almost as if they were sex offenders, and I haven't seen any evidence to contradict what I feel. May I mention in despatches that Traynor bucked the trend, so good on him. This FIFA/UEFA nonsense is way off the mark. The comparison with the Sion case(coincidental why Sion comes up by the way) is also way off the mark. The ruling yesterday was about the legality of the sanctions imposed. The grounds for those sanctions were not opposed. Today, the waters have been muddied, and it’s once again all about Rangers. Yesterday's ruling was not about Rangers - it was about the SFA, and let's not forget that. The situation that Rangers find themselves in is one matter, but we need to return to the crucial issue. The ruling yesterday was against the SFA. Regarding that ruling, Rangers are irrelevant. In a universal context, it could have been any club in Scotland. The fact is that the procedures and the application of the rules of the SFA have been called to account by the Court of Session, and they have found to be not supportable. Personally,I feel that the SFA is a shambles. It's patently obvious that it isn't fit for purpose, and a priority should be assessing what Scottish football replaces it with. Yesterday's court ruling was a damning determination of their incompetency. As a challenge, perhaps the SFA would like to highlight where they have benefited the Scottish game in the past few years. Even simpler than that, just tell us -without the bullshit - what they got right, as opposed to what they got totally wrong. Scotland’s game is in this place today because of the SFA. They have had the remit to alleviate many problems - to advance our national game, to sort out the referee crisis or to put in place a balanced approach to disciplinary action – amongst other matters. However, they have arguably made things worse, and arguably failed to address the key issues. I have never known such a period of vitriolic animosity amongst fans. The national team is deep-diving through the rankings, and I feel that we have many years ahead to repair the damage done. Perhaps Regan would like to highlight all of this on his CV? Any other football association in the world would have made efforts to support its referees, ensure a balanced approach to help a member club in crisis, and work out a strategy to develop and advance the game – especially at a youth level. Yesterday’s ruling is not a further call to castigate Rangers. It was a call to open the debate on the inadequacy of the people who run our game and to put in motion a debate that will sort Scottish football out. Will it happen? I’m not holding my breath. Meanwhile the Scottish media will spin the issue and collectively miss the point for the sake of a few paper sales or ratings. Perhaps I’m being too kind, and I should just wait for the next anti-Rangers diatribe.

All the more reason for them coming to Ibrox for a friendly. They need the money. Euro's looking good from our perspective. We don't have too may dates lined up with Euro models. It's about time we could get some decent kebabs at Ibrox. Win/win all round. Just not over there. -
Regan and Lawwell: Resign Now - NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
bluebear54 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I wish it had been better thought out. Bringing Liewell into it just makes it sound like a cheap anti-them shot. Just my opinion - there's a very valid agenda here but it's not been fully scoped out. All the best to those who raised the issue. That aside, I've signed. -

I was thinking at Ibrox. You couldn't drag me to a match in Turkey. There would be fingernail trenches all the way! -
Since the onset of the implications of Bosman, I've persistently pointed out that football players are the only mortals who get their salaries quoted on a weekly basis. Is the football world scared to tell us what this equates to? 3-6k sounds fine. Not very much. It is however, 150k to 300k per annum. In my wee worls, that's nice work if you can get it. I know how many "k" I make a year. Why can't we just have a level playing field and quote their annual salary?

Well now, life these days is nothing if not eventful. No doubt we will just have to wait for the Daly Llama's revelations. I don't really rate him alongside the the most incisive of investigative journalists, and that's being brutally honest. However, I also don't think that, unlike some others, he has a wider agenda (other than his own furtherment) but I'm open to proven wrong. I do however find it staggering to think that Chick Young and Daly are the crown jewels in the BBC's box. Really - where are we going? Supporting the Rangers used to be about football. Supporting football used to be about football. Mind you, older Bears will recall that sports media coverage used to be about football too. I remember waiting outside the paper shop for the pink or the green. I think that we're all going to hell in a basket, and that includes the SFA/SPL, the sports media, Rangers, Celtic, the rest of the upper tier of Scottish football and not least, the national team. We are going to end up as a backwater where the best teams in the land may aspire to a semi-professional base at best. Where any decent talent will shoot the craw at 15 or 16 - and for a pittance. Hell mend them all. There will be no winners out of this.
