He's certainly pressing all the right buttons. Scots have a reputation for canniness and for having a love of money (and being careful with it) In my experience, Yorkshiremen are streets ahead in both areas. Green may yet turn out to be a good thing for us. I'm still very much on the fence, but it may be that we might have some mutuality with Green that will benefit us both.

I'm sure we'll drop points at some stage. I'm also sure we'll win the league at a canter. However, I don't want a canter. I want a gallop.
-
Be nice for a wee Div 3 team to take a few scalps this season.

This will be an interesting journey. Only a fool would expect a catalogue of 7-0 drubbings. Have a look at recent Scottish and League Cup results. All of the 29 teams we will face in the next few years will be well up for it, and I dare say that some will see the advantage of catenaccio and would see a draw as a brilliant result. I honestly don't think it will be easy. We will need a galvanised support and a galvanised team. On the subject of support, I would hope that we will all be on a friendly mission to endear ourselves to our newly found fellow fans. Capiche, anyone?

Let's go for it. I'm happy for the letter to be used. How do we go about that? It would also have to be done promptly. No time to lose. There's a battle in the air, and the enemy are at the gates. Happy to help, but I don't post on any other forums.

I've got no issue with BBC Alba. As far as I'm aware they haven't been infiltrated yet. I did say yet.

Email sent to both SKY and ESPN. Sir/Madam You will be aware that I have been a SKY customer for some 15 years, latterly via BT Vision. You will also be aware that in February, I cancelled my subscription because I was extremely unhappy at what Rangers supporters view as a corporate vendetta which has targeted the football team I support, namely Rangers. If the media in Scotland is to be believed, SKY has now agreed terms with the SFL and the SPL to broadcast Rangers games for the next 3 years. This certainly makes me happy, and in a perfect world I would have been more than happy to immediately renew my subscription. However, recent prevarications by the SPL and SFA have not filled me with optimism with regards to future sanctions and vindictive actions against Rangers. Yesterday, Rangers were granted a “conditional” SFA license, and notice was given of an intention to initiate further proceedings against them on 12 August 2012. I note that this date is 2 days after the date that SKY should reportedly make payment on their contract to the SPL. As such, I am unwilling to renew my subscription for SKY until such times that I am satisfied that there will be no more unwarranted repercussions against Rangers, and that this vindictive self-interest and greed within Scottish football ceases. Furthermore, while not encouraging action, I am actively informing as many fellow supporters as possible of my decision and the reasons behind it. Please be aware that I have neither issue with SKY nor the SFL whom I believe to have behaved impeccably throughout this saga. My issue is with the corrupt actions of the SPL and the SFA. I will look forward to renewing my subscription when this sorry mess has been put behind us and we can return to concentrating on the game I love and to the furtherment of Scottish football. I would be extremely grateful if you would pass this email along to the appropriate corporate contact and confirm that you have done so. Lastly I ask that you treat this correspondence and my identity as confidential under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 and other relevant legislation. Yours sincerely

Just remembered. Is Black not recovering from a hernia operation and therefore out anyway?
-
That's certainly one option. I'm sure there are others.

I may get pelters for this. I don't see much as having changed over the past day. I note that our membership is "conditional." On what, I remain to be enlightened. I also note the the SPL Kangacourt will be directly after they presumably get their fix from SKY/ESPN. I am writing to both SKY and ESPN today to inform them that that I won't be renewing until such times as this bloody mess has been sorted out, and everything written in stone. I will also make them aware that Rangers are not - as yet - full members of the SFA, and that we may be open to further, as yet unknown, sanctions down the line which may affect our ability to fulfill the fixture list. This is my personal course of action. Naturally everyone else is entitled to do as they see fit.
-
Agreed. However, it may be a good idea to agree on a common spokesman in the meantime. and a common message. At times there have been contradictory messages going out there, and at times there have been cringeworthy statements.
-
Totally agree. Add to that the SFA being in contempt of Court. It's irrelevant iwhether Green accepted to embargo or not. Until the SFA follow the determination of the Court, they are in contempt.

Thought for a minute STB was suggesting we played 9 men, until I saw Mitchell and Black typed there too, then the penny dropped. Yeps - great lineup, although I would put Hutton in there instead of Bedoya who still hasn't impressed me. I truly hope Ally's getting his team talk for the next 4 seasons sorted out/ I want to see us galvanised. I want to see us play great football. I want to see us demolish teams. And I want to see the fallout and bitterness when a lower division side is consistently on the back page.
-
Maybe, but I think we'll be better prepared for the next battle. Yes - but it's high time we choose where to fight the battle, instead of being consistently ambushed.
-
See the point about Black and I'll never forget the "tackle" on Jelavic. However, he was on the other side then. To be fair, he ran the show for Hertz in the Cup final. Div 3 and 2 will be a bit of a rough and tumble, and I think Ally's being pretty canny getting players like Black on board. He can dish it out, but he has also got a fair bit of talent and experience. No brainer for me. Jeez - it's great to talk about football.
-
Well said Mr Z. To that list you can add en ever more polarised and vehemently anti-Rangers media.
-
We - and the SFA/SFL - are obliged to act within Scots and European law. That also includes any coercion by the SFA/SFL to go against Scots or European law. I'm pretty convinced that the transfer embargo is already in breach of European legislation. Given that the initial transfer embargo sanction was found to be ultra vires, I'm bloody sure that the present sanction - as a condition of membership - is equally ultra vires (although I haven't looked through their articles for confirmation.) Anyway, I'm pretty convinced that its also in breach of European legislation. These people need a serious reality check. If they want to act within the law, fair enough, but they seem to think they are above the law, and that the highest Courts in the land are UEFA and FIFA. Until they follow the determination of Lord Glennie, they are technically in contempt of Court. Factum.

Jeez - be nice for all to step back and take a rational view on this. It's been a hard journey and we're all affected. -

I promise you, it's not just the titles - that's just a precursor to financial recompense. This is intended to be a slow death by many cuts. -

Despite their gerrymandered TV deal, this is not going to be an easy ride for most SPL clubs. They still haven't seen it, and I agree with AM's comments about lack of leadership. Hell mend them. They'll pay the ferryman. -

With TV rights at stake - Nah! -

Then let's reserve our right to take it to Court. We are not the ones who are out of order. They've been told once, and are still apparently in contempt of court. Shall we try again? They do need to understand where they sit in the food chain. -
If we don't get a license, the TV deal is gone. That would mean 4 or 5 SPL teams going to the wall. That in turn would mean the SPL going to the wall. Also, the SFL would be livid, and I wouldn't like to predict what actions they would take. Doncaster and Regan would find themselves out of a job. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few court cases as various bodies are sued. In short, total meltdown. Why should we agree to the SPL imposing conditions on releasing our registration. I can't even see such an action being cited in their articles. I think it's not even within their remit. I say, let's not give in. It's a game of poker. They WILL fold.
