I've got a video machine if its any help.

Ah well. That explains it.

Done. But difficult to get back on to Gersnet. Using Phone now.

Always terrible to see bad injuries. Best of luck to the lad.

Please DJ What bozo wrote this?

Gilmour sums it up then. It's all about self interest. Thanks for clearing that up. Also looks to me like the SPL intend to have a built in 5-3 majority vote - 3 from the SPL clubs and 2 executives of their choosing. I hope the SFL are going into this with their eyes open.

Hot on our heels ? What a delicious irony that would be. Would love to see where their whining gets them down there - let alone their repertoire.

The ba' is well and truly burst in Scotland. I defy anyone to tell me things will get better. There is such a bitter atmosphere of hate and spite that it's soul destroying, and it will never recover. The press are killing the game off and they can't see it. It's not just the usual suspects in the SFA and SPL. If the press had been doing their job, we wouldn't be drowning in this sea of bile.

I know we can't vote, but I'd love to know what the TV deal means for us. Correct me if I'm wrong, but early kick offs, most televised club, largest viewing figures, paltry share of revenue. Would this sum it up?

This is Coisty's second season in charge. We're all too aware of what we've been through in the past 13-14 months. I'm still not sure how to put last season's European results into context. We had the squad, and we should have easily got into the group stages of the CL. That we didn't even make the EL was shocking. It doesn't sit right with me to put Ally down. However it doesn't sit right with me to see Rangers going nowhere.

Rangers set to remain bottom tier in 12-12-18 plan
bluebear54 replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
I might be wrong, but I think there's a few smoke screens here, not least if it's 12-12-18 or 12-12-10-10. More importantly, what's the governance? Is it going to be Peter Lawell and whoever he sees fit to be on any boards? What kind of voting structures will there be? Why are the first placed in the SPL being slightly disadvantaged financially, while the second placed are are taking a huge hit? What does the present Sky deal look like? What will the future one look like? How will that be distributed? How will the SPL's present debts be incorporated into the new structure? So many other questions to consider. 12-12-18 or 12-12-10-10 is one of the lesser issues in my book. -
BBC Scotland report NO titles to be stripped but are fined £250K

Totally agree that over recent years, Celtic have stealthily made themselves the oracle and spokesman for Scottish football. Their statement and their manager's statement defies belief, but clarifies a lot. I'm in total agreement that we now get to the bottom of few things. The five way agreement, who were actually driving the decisions at the SPL and the SFA, who made the decisions about the transfer fees and the withheld prize money. Because, if the shoe was on the other foot, by God, we'd never hear the end of it. This is an opportunity to highlight a few pertinent facts to the world. What has been attempted has been one of the most disgraceful episodes in sporting history. i personally want to see all those responsible hung out to dry. -
Actually that lot could. They have constantly won prizes over the years for the most trampy away strips.

Can we rename this forum? How about Kuznetsovnet?

Perspective. if we're not in a league there's no TV deal and no income from us. This is a two way street. Or a better analogy is a 4 man poker game - SFA, SPL, SFL and us. We've got two aces in the hole with another two on the table.
-
Somewhere warm with no obsessed morons would be nice ....
-
It might very well affect us. I haven't heard anything yet about voting rights in the revamped SFL. Nor have I heard anything about what kind of financial redistribution they are talking about. If you take that other lot out of the equation, rest assured, with regards to finances, we have a lot more to bring to the table than the rest of the clubs combined. So I fail to see this being a good deal for us. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see a monumental stitch up, which will allow Celtic to rule the roost for the next ten to fifteen years. All in the name of sporting integrity.

The idea of this midway split into 3 leagues of 8 is very ill- thought out. How can teams budget for this? The 4 who come up from Div 2 will be at a distinct disadvantage. Or is this the plan? On another tack, the 4 who go down will be toiling financially. What Scottish football really needs IMO is a bottom tier of under-18 football, the. Under 21 for the next level. Radical, but would bring on youngsters which is what we need.

This has nothing to do with handwringing. It's about the hardheadedness shown by some of us. The writing was on the wall, and it seemed like there was a digging in of heels. TBB ended up being banned and still some dug in their heels. I don't think that "get it up you" mindset will ever go away. There is no way we could sing it without the offending line being sung. Recent examples prove the point Mind you the suggestion that "We'll give anything to see our team, at Ibrox or away" replaces it just sucks.

Happy New Year to all Gersnetters. Hope you all have a good one.
-
Thanks Frankie - great post. That would also be my New Year wish. I suspect however that it will also be my New Year wish in one year's time again. Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and wish each and every one who contributes to this - the best wee forum on the planet - a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Let's have a guid yin. It's no less than we're due.

At the time, that £4m was easily manageable. The small HMRC thing of £20m - if you are correct - was a farce. I can't remember what the original PAYE/VAT bill was, but I'm almost sure that more than 50% of that £20m was in notional levies. That's all a murky area where we would love to enlightened. Some stories say that CW offered repayment terms but was knocked back. I don't necessarily believe that. If CW was using PAYE/VAT to run the business, it's a criminal offence. I really find this part of the saga confusing, and would love some clarity. I don't see it being forthcoming from HMRC, it certainly wasn't from CW, and it certainly wasn't from D&P.

I don't see anything wrong in pursuing all possible income streams. Some will work, and some won't. As long as the Club benefits, I'm happy. From a business perspective, I fail to see why the prime money making objective shouldn't be using Scotland's number one facility in Auchenhowie, and scouting, nurturing and developing the cream of Scottish (and other national) talent, playing them for a few years, then selling them on for mega bucks. But there again, I'm a purist.

We've got a fan on board. Charles Green. Admittedly, he's a fan of making dosh, but that may not necessarily be a bad thing for us
