Bet they weren't on the same wages as our guys, Zappa. Or anywhere near it. The point is that for the money we're shelling out for facilities, players and coaching staff, we should be creaming it. That we struggle should be a huge burden of embarrassment to everyone involved at the Club

PM David Cameron backs Rangers and Celtic move to Premier League
bluebear54 replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
This is all despite the fact that our invention, intellectual capacity, humanism, industry, and general on-the-forefrontism has been a cut above the rest of Europe consistently for the past 300 years. Or at least until recently. The fact that someone tells me that we are betrothen to an English handout because of our inadequacy sticks in my craw. It couldn't be further from the truth. In all honesty people like IDS, Haig and Cameron would be quite happy to set us adrift if it saved a few bob. But it wouldn't. They need us much more that we need them. If the English have decided to use Rangers as a political pawn then shame on them. It's not the first time in their history that they have played the divide and rule card. -
Would he be any good for us? I quite fancy watching attacking football, winning games and arguing about how many games on the trot we've won.

Clubs must focus on current proposal - Neil Doncaster

Actually, if you don't look at the plus/minus figures, it's quite a good distribution model. -
It's pleasant to know that Smith and his ilk will not have a job in 5 years. Even more pleasant to know that they're being instrumental in their own destruction.

After scratching my head a bit, the only thing I can guess is that sponsorship/ media deal/solvency is a major issue for the SPL. If true, it follows that without us, the Rangers cash cow, everything is up shit creek. I hope that CG isn't negotiating a way back in, because he should know that if that happens, he might not have the backing that he seems to think he has. I for one do not want our name tarnished to save the SPL, and lets face it. That would be the outcome.

Almost makes you think that some people decided what they needed, sat down, did the maths, then came up with a voting solution that would give them what they needed. Maybe I'm just a cynic. Perhaps this is really about taking our game forward, and it's not about Celtic's self interest. Doncaster strikes me as unusually dim - so it can't be him.
-
No - you're spot on. Shocking to think he would be. But let's be brutal. He'd do a good job for a few years. Good for us. Good for him.

Quote: There is no 'undue haste', as has been termed by some people, to make this happen but there is a real urgency to do it." So - there's no undue haste but there is a real urgency. This should be in an Airplane movie script. Wish he'd bugger off back to whatever planet he came from. Am I allowed to say that about aliens? -

Gawn yersel PapaBear! Where you getting these figures? -
Here we go. Shoot me down in flames. I'm convinced that JC would do a much better job than Ally.

What I continue to find strange is the "If this moment is lost there may not be another opportunity..... this is the one chance for change" quotes. Now everyone is coming out with this pap. I ask myself why - at this moment in Scottish football's history is this such an opportunistic moment to create something of lasting benefit to the game? What's the reason for this window of opportunity? Because I'm buggered if I can see one good reason for pushing through ANY changes for next season. I'm not saying that discussions shouldn't continue with a view to change but there is no reason now for pushing something through in haste. So. Why the hurry? And where's the truth?

PM David Cameron backs Rangers and Celtic move to Premier League
bluebear54 replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
With all respect DB, it's not just the money. There is a feeling that it would bring an extra excitement to the game. And I believe that it would. It would bring back that Home International buzz to the game. But there are some strange political agendas as well. Particularly from them. Can't wait to see the IRAoke against Millwall. I still can't make out what's happening. But something is. -
PM David Cameron backs Rangers and Celtic move to Premier League
bluebear54 replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
Not really relevant. He doesn't decide all that much. He's just a Prime Minister. I've mentioned this perfect storm before - and it is a possibility. I have a feeling that this story is based on truth. -
Let's face it. After a good sesh on the sunbed, JC would wind that lot up just because of the colour of his skin. I can sense a few chants coming on. Calderwood is a good call, given where we are. Numan is a good idea too. But there are better people out there. What is it with this Club that you either have to have played for us, or be a bluenose, to be in the running? We end up losing out. Wish it was more like a business. No sympathies. You're good. You've got the job. You either achieve or we'll get somebody else.

What a truly obnoxious bitter bigoted tasteless comment to make. Like Zappa, Les Gray will be getting zero from me, unless I can't help it eg sponsorship/media rights. What is it with this bitter self interest?
-
Probably very true. Which is a stunning reason for being no part of it.

Advertising Standards Authority step into Scottish football

I can think of few laws that they got away with breaking. Football, tax and civil. So they're talking shite. -
Advertising Standards Authority step into Scottish football
bluebear54 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
You must admit. We've really pissed them off over the years for them to have this second best attitude. -
Did I not read somewhere that's against the regulations? Is it not this regulation - and perhaps others? 12. NOTICE TO RESIGN MEMBERSHIP No Member shall resign, retire or otherwise cease to be a member of the League unless it shall have given not less than two full seasons prior written notice so to do, unless with the approval of not less than two-thirds (66%) of the votes cast at a general meeting of the League.

This sounds like fun and games. Agreed with GA's previous post. Scottish football has become a cesspit of threat and innuendo. As has the Scottish football media. So, threats through the media - or innuendo/incentive passed on by word of mouth? Both is my bet. Think we're all convinced that the powers that be need this go through for this year. As I said - fun and games.
-
Agreed and totally spot on, BM. The real story SHOULD be about the effect that this prat Tommy has had on a family and a career. Rangers didn't instigate this, Sandaza didn't. It was Tommy. And he has previous. This chappie in my book is about as low as you can go as a human being. Totally despicable specimen. Unfortunately there isn't a journalist in Scotland who has the moral fibre, the integrity or the gumption to even think about reporting this story from the angle of seeing Tommy as the culprit.
-
I wouldn't have signed him. I wouldn't have signed quite a few of the current squad. I wouldn't have a lot of people in their present position at our Club. But I'm just a punter. Sandaza is just a silly pawn. I think Tommy is an out and out prat of the highest order. I just can't conceive what eejits like him want to achieve. Is it the destruction of Scottish football. Because without us there will be nothing. It will die. How narrow minded and petty can these arseholes be? The press are understandable. They're going to the wall and they know it. Their part in this is pure desperation. However, if this newly found cyber freedom continues, there will be nothing left of what we know. What will remain is our fan base. Interesting to wonder where we will end up.

Great stuff. So right. Thanks
